That's his promo material. Looks like an AI-generated "photo" for me too.
Can't speak for the smell but I'm not convinced with the presentation. It seems like a no-name fragrance you can find on a random flea market. The way he speaks about it and stresses the Chinese origin of all ingredients seems to me that it's a cynically calculated cash grab to expand his clientele to China. That's the fastest growing consumer group of luxurious products and many "heritage" brands have been doing the same thing for the last decade. But perhaps it's my disappointment with his Agar de Noir and my prejudices against him as a business-savvy guy who just tries to monetize on the success of his two first lines speaking through me.

Tried Histoires de Parfums 1828 and 1740 today. Former wasn't too bad, the eucalyptus setting it a little apart, slightly sweet dry down but couldn't really detect it at that point. Latter had a very thick interesting opening, but quickly just became the scent of honey for hours. Struggling to find things that I enjoy all the way through.

I kinda agree. It seems to me that he's more of a distiller not a perfumer and the way he operates as of his last 4 or so lines is as follows
>finds some rare ingredient, let it be a brick of ambergris, dated oud oil or ancient fermented ingredients rebought from perfume companies for pennies
>thinks of a concept for this ingredients without actually testing if it works
>orders/distils more expensive materials and add to mix according to the idea he has in his head
>shit's probably complex but not necessarily smelling good together
>sprinkles some cheap ingredients like bergamot or aldehydes to make it more "perfumey"
Obviously complex and rich materials will speak for themselves anyways but his role to it is merely reduced to a logistician/business person of sorts. I have tried his stuff and can compare it to Anna Zworykina. She also works with naturals, although not as glamorous as Rusian Adam, but unlike to him her stuff smells like perfumes not a one-man-show. The compositions can often be conceptual but you can't say a bad thing about her blends and how she makes all notes compliment each other.

Last night I was sitting in my underwear in the dark, drinking cheap whisky, chatting to women on Onlyfans, trying to buy happiness if even for a moment. Their laughter at my jokes as hollow as my existence. The taste of the whisky was irrelevant. I don’t know how it tastes, I just know it makes the days bearable. The only sound was the creaking of my chair, the music has long since stopped. I consider going to sleep but the sooner I do that the sooner the next day comes. I stay awake knowing that the happiness I felt at the moment wasn’t permanent, it was just a loan from tomorrow, and today I’m paying the interest.

But I was wearing Ambre Sultan and it was divine.

You forgot the step where you supply the "expert" known as Kafkaesque, where they provide their totally unbiased opinion.

The deep irony is how she compared the latest release to her uber rare vintage Shalimar at some point. And she might be completely right! Of course a perfume with materials past their prime is going to smell like a badly preserved vintage perfume! Congrats K, you are a bloodhound nose after all, gold star. Can't wait for the circle jerk of all the usual cultists and business partners.

Sometimes niche perfumery is an absolute joke. So called experts sometimes mention their ill-preserved vintages as "evaporated to the heft of an attar".
At the end of the day ones like Kafka are just essentially like the type of fragranticans that cry about reformulations and vintages without bothering to look into the history of perfume and why things like reformulation happen, they just want to be part of the ignorant rallying cry and want to look intelligent by throwing around the odd chemical name or perfumery factoid they haphazardly absorbed. But hey they can spam out paragraphs about their superior nose.

I need a drink.

Neither. Dior Homme Cologne's trick is that it doesn't last long enough to discover that it's actually quite boring.
Givenchy Gentleman Cologne was shilled hard by Max Forti but it's just Lalique White with a better label.

Eau de Givenchy is better, but it smells like Neroli Portofino and Mugler Cologne mixed.

For something more interesting, try Caron Yuzu Man, which I think is a lot more crisp for summer.

Not necessarily. While they're both classic 80's powerscents, Kouros is really just a classic aromatic fougere with big honey, incense and civet notes, while Antaeus is a much more complex leather chypre. The two are often mentioned side-by-side, but in my opinion, they are not at all in the same league.

Personally, I love Antaeus, though. It's bitter and green but never sharp, so smooth. In classic Chanel style, it's so well-blended that picking out individual notes is challenging. Even the most recent formulations (while no longer the powerhouse it once was) are still fantastic.

Got a sample of H24. I think it’s very nice. It is light and herbal and fresh. It isn’t going to fill a room unless you spray heavy but that can be a good thing. I’m trying to think of what it’s similar to from what else I’ve worn. I think maybe if Acqua Di Gio had a baby with Prada L’homme it would be similar to this. This is definitely mass appealing

Not always a safe assumption. It's not discontinued, but it's also not a big seller so it doesn't get a lot of floor space.
Most places just have Bleu and flankers, Allure Homme and flankers, and Platinum Egoiste (but not the original) for men's Chanel. Maybe there will be a dusty Pour Monsieur on a high shelf.

Not saying that you're wrong but sillage preferences also fluctuate with time. You had large, obnoxiously loud powerhouses in 70s and 80s and then in 90s and 00s the likings took a turn and more personal, lighter, water-like scents such as Issey or CK Eternity became next blockbusters. I think it might still be too early for turning to soft scents again but this Hermes might be the first sign of it.

I want to buy one more Frédéric Malle and I’m still torn between the following:

Musc Ravageur - It’s so smooth, has good longevity and a nice development

Le Parfum de Therese - I’ve talked about this a lot here. It smells so good and it would almost feel like a privilege to own it.

En Passant - Perhaps a little too light and airy to suit me, but based purely on scent alone it’s divine. It’s delicate, crisp, clean, and does so much with so little.

There are others I like, but none that I truly love except these. Maybe Geranium Pour Monsieur is close, but not quite.

I recommended Musc Ravageur to my fuckbuddy yesterday as we randomly ended chatting about frags. She's the kind of girl that MR can be deadly on. I will always remember the night we met for the first time. We went to her apartment after a gala I got quite drunk at. There was a table in her living room with a bowl full of cherries. She was sitting across this table in a white loose shirt, and we were talking and drinking wine. At some point she said to look at her. Picked one of the cherries, put it slowly in her mouth together with a stem and started eating it. I was a bit confused about what she meant, but then she swallowed it and slowly showed her tongue with the stem knotted sitting on it. And I knew then that she will be a good fuck. Would be cool to see her again after corona. This time, with her smelling of MR. Funnily enough I remember my scent of the night as I sprayed Profumum Roma Acqua e Zucchero too much. There was this massive vanilla-berry cloud surrounding me that was so obnoxious that my Uber driver had to open his window swearing something in Ukrainian lol. I cringe a bit thinking about it now.

I don't get it, it's not like he wouldn't have still been making money. He just lost hundreds of dollars in sales. The number one rule to reselling is to turn the money, not hold on for what you think something is worth. Sell them to me and order replacements.

i was looking at a bottle of fou d´absinthe and found tons and tons of russian sellers on ebay selling it for around 60 euro dollars, saying the bottles are new and sealed. all of them basically write the same stuff and say delivery might take up to 60 days. whats the fuck is up with that? it heavily smells like scam but the product pictures are different and the accounts have good ratings.

>> No.15999374

Russia is notorious for selling fake fragrance(or anything designer really). Never buy anything that ships from Russian Federation. It's also super easy to remove negative ratings on ebay. As long as they refund you or compensate you in some way they can write it off as resolved and have the negative feed back removed. Trust me you didn't seemingly run into the best deal ever on one of the largest marketplaces.
That being said ebay has really good buyer protection, hell you can buy something authentic and say it was fake and probably win the case, which is also a reason sellers dislike selling on ebay. The market is just huge so they can't ignore it.

Anyone give me the skinny on Royal Oud? I got a decant of it and really liked it; only problem is it's a decant from a 2016 bottle.
I've read Creed's Aventus batches can really vary and I'm afraid the same might apply to Royal Oud. RO doesn't seem to be nearly as well documented as Aventus especially when it comes to batch variation to find out which might be a batch I'd like.
How are Creed's more modern 2019-2020(21?) batches, a safe blindish buy for Royal Oud? I don't think I'd be willing to pony of the extra people ask for on more vintage bottles.

I've tested Hermes H24 in my local Sephora. It's a prime example why you should never believe notes as they are mostly picked by marketing departments. At least I haven't seen anyone addressing the elephant in the room here - namely the unlisted big, sweet grapefruit note that dominates the opening and stays there for at least the first 15 minutes. I can clearly tell why it's not listed there - almost candy-sweet aspects of grapefruit didn't fit the concept of a "futuristic", minimalist fragrance that Hermes came up with for H24. It's the same sweet grapefruit facet that made me give away my decant of Guerlain Pamplelune and that is present for example in ELDO Remarkable People. It's quite nice though and becomes subdued quickly (but I find it still lingering around now at 30minutes mark). After the opening it becomes much more aromatic. They list clary sage as the note that should be responsible for that but to my nose there are some other herbal-aromatic undertones - clary sage is one of my favorite notes and I smelled it through and through in fragrances ranging from Eternity 25 Anniversary to Ormonde Jayne Black Gold. This is the part I'm perfectly fine with. It's accompanied by a bit of florals (quite a bold choice for Hermes to pick narcissus - respect for that) and some very dry woody note. The entire thing has indeed a futuristic, mineral-metallic vibe that is accomplished using some synthetic that I cannot pin down (it's not ambroxan) and that sadly irritates my nose and makes sinuses itchy. The entire thing gives off a high-quality shaving cream vibe, a high-tech fougere if you will. Quite a solid, unusual release from Hermes. If it becomes mainstream then I think things might get interesting again after the too long reign of blue-ambroxan fragrances.

>You can detect a molecule you have never smelled before?
I can detect some synthetic aromachemical irritating my nose that I'm not familiar with profile of. That's it.
> you smell citruses in H24?
In the opening? Almost only grapefruit.
>The sweet note is narcissus, come on.
Do you actually know how narcissus smells like? Try Masque Milano Romanza
or PdE Tabac Tabou for prominent narcissus note.
>How’s performance for you?
Not bad. I sprayed my wrist 3 times. It was projecting a lot for the first 30m-1h, now about 2h down the road it is more tamed but definitely still noticeable. I feel like this fragrance is rather supposed to stay close and enhance your natural smell and not male all people around sure that you sprayed something. That's more patrician option if you ask me.

Heads up for you faggots: Micallef is discontinuing bunch of their frags and you can get them for -60% from their website. Free shipping over 50EUR, too. Sweet deal if you ask me.

Mugler Cologne just smells like a nice soap bar. Aqua Allegorias are all fresh fruity-like but very feminine, trust me on this I love unisex fragrances and they all seem too girly for me.
Hermes with their Un Jardin goes to the same direction but less sweet, more sophisticated, they fit your bill.
Get some samples from the Un Jardin line or try them in a store I would say.

Ordered. I loved their Gaiac sample. One of the best warm spicy-woody scents I've tried that comes close to MDCI Fetes Persanes, so it was a no-brainer. Picked Emir because it looked most interesting out of other available frags there and wanted to get free shipping. It's really nice that you can get 30ml bottles on the sale, too.

If you're not afraid of some other florals Don't Cry For Me ALTAIA is your best bet.
For citric white tea try: Between Two Trees Floraïku (it has listed matcha as a note but it's more of a white tea scent imo). Another option for white tea that is close to jasmine tea, this time accompanied by ginger, is I Am Coming Home from Floraiku.
Damn, I just realized that over last two years I smelled 30-40 tea-centric frags. Perhaps I should do some infographic.

perhaps you should. i havent smelled a tea centric fragrance yet but i love drinking green tea and the smell of fresh jasmine tea is something to behold.
unfortunately i dont exactly like citrusy scents, be it lemon, orange, vetiver, not for me unless the other ingredients make it worth it
