>Megamare and Tom Ford Costa Azzurra.
Ehh idk man. I've tested both recently as I'm on a constant look out for dark, aquatic fragrances. Didn't like neither. Megamare smelt like an aquatic toilet refresher with chamomile undertones and I wrote this tl;dr sniffing-note about Costa Azzurra:
>I was expecting something unique given that I bought it due to interesting looking notes like driftwood, seaweed, celery seeds, myrtle, juniper but the opening is straight-up a blue mens shower-gels smell all around. Clean, citric, fresh but eventually just a routine designer DNA. After the first hour when all citric notes already died out it becomes darker and woodier but it still smells synthetic. After a darker, synthetic middle the drydown about 5h in turned out to be a feeble woody-smoky smell (quite a good performance for a blue Private Bland nevertheless). Overall I can't shake the thought that it is a fragrance for the shanty lads type of guys going on a 'posh' vacations to French Riviera. Calling their mates back in Leeds all excited when they figure out that they have an all-inclusive bar in their hotel and posting blurry photos on Instagram from nights out chasing birds in random nightclubs they were let in but to be frank that's the audience I always imagine in my head as the target for TF Private Blend. To sum up it's a safe, synthetic (not necessary in a bad way) shower-gely designer fragrance that would work if you are looking for some aquatic with minimal edge. But to be completely honest with you I recently tested quite a few solid niche aquatics and I don't really remember well other aquatic designer staple fragrances like Bulgaris to make a fair comparison here. For Private Blend prices it's absolutely not worth it though, but might make sense to get a Signature bottle if you end up liking
However, testing these scents in Winter might not do them justice. I'll revisit them when it gets hot again.

That was my parents' signature scents in 90s so I may not be objective but when I revisited it some time ago after finding a bottle gathering dust in their bathroom it smelled really dated. Thanks, I haven't tested them all and don't want to rush it as all of her stuff is quite complex and needs some time to understand. I have tested so far: Cuir de Russie, Shiny Amber, Honey & Tar, 150 Days to Summer, Emerald Green, Silver Lavender and was really impressed with the quality of them all. I don't want to spam these threads with reviews of something as niche as work of a Russian artisanal all natural perfumer that can be purchased only from Etsy and Bloom (apart from my absolute favorites that I'm going to talk about relentlessly lol) if there's no interest in hearing about them but let me know if you would like to hear my thoughts on any of them. I ordered samples of most of her work and I'm aware that there are not many resources on the internet to read about Anna Zworykina, so I'm happy to provide you my point of view. This is an embarrassingly stupid argument to start. You act like people buy a fragrance that they don't like just to impress people. Frankly, longevity and sillage are major concerns when buying perfume. If you don't care about performance that's cool, but to get angry about its discussion is cringe.

People do. I’ve had so many conversations with people who get shocked when I say I buy a fragrance because I like the smell, not because I expect others to enjoy it.

You're projecting. No one here is getting angry at it. Look at this and last thread and see who was stirring the shit up. You had some sillage shitposters vs. others (including me) who were calmly arguing that there are cases and people for whom it's not the most important aspect. If someone gets angry here then these would be the people who can't stand a thought of someone using EdC just to refresh oneself in the morning and to be gone after 30m-1h mark before applying some other, more substantial fragrance. Last post from me.

1 ml of perfume is the equivalent to 12 sprays on average.
You got 2400 sprays in your 200ml bottle.
With a moderate spraying routine of five sprays you got 480 wears in this bottle.
The vile opening lasts for about 1h. So you're in for 480h of putting through this smell.
That's equivalent of 20 days of your life taken smelling "pretty bad, of a rotten lemon" as you describe.
I really don't get why people do that. All of that just to eventually wait till the drydown of a mediocre clone of a mediocre fragrance. There are thousands of fragrances out there for any budget that you would end up loving from the first spray to the very last minutes. Life's too short for fragrances you don't absolutely love.

For a start it’s not even a summer fragrance. I’d recommend it any time of year other than summer.

Look it is a boomer tier fragrance along the same lines as Tommy and Cool Water but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

It’s what I’d probably wear on a casual cold night at somewhere like a funfair.

That's the funniest part. It's enough to scroll a bit through her feed to understand that she's merely aspiring not living this kind of life. It's all a big lie (like most of Instagram to be fair here) that probably only her simp followers buy. There's nothing wrong with upper social mobility, as that's what every healthy society should be built upon, but I'm curious if she knows that's from the moment she opens her mouth everyone from the spheres she aspires to belong can actually figure out that she's an impostor.

Can some Australian anon tell what is her accent like for you? Is it typical for some region/group? Does she try to hide it? I've learned a lot about different notes, smelled for the first in my life what does it mean for a fragrance to have three, distinct top-heart-basis phases, honed my personal taste in fragrances. Also didn't end up buying any full bottle.I absolutely don't regret spending money on this sample set though. I would not neglect their animalics to be fair. I don't really think so. Ambers are one of the most popular cold weather men's fragrances (see D&G The One). Just don't overspray and remember that people at distance will rather perceive a pleasant, warm oriental bubble around you not what you get by sniffing your own wrist.

That's correct. I've dated fashion models who were told explicitly by their agencies that they must not post anywhere photos of their boyfriends unless they are engaged as it limits the audience. This is the same farming that is being done on coomers on OnlyFans. They want to have some illusion of personal contact and standing a chance with these girls. Weird to see that society got to the point where many young guys treat this as some substitute for real contact.

Sampled today:
Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache
Rather disappointed as I liked the impressions spoken about it but considering the simplicity it's probably not too much of a surprise. The opening is some dank moist soil, but soon reveals the strawberry and a little bit of pine which together is nice. That doesn't last too long so it basically just becomes strawberry for hours, which is tolerable but boring and rather feminine.

Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser
The opening is quite bizarre because there's plenty of creamy vanilla, but with black pepper underneath. It's not in the notes but others have mentioned it too. It slowly gets better as it turns to the ambers but there's still just enough of that pepper or smokey note up close to know that it's still there. Can't say I enjoy it, the spices alongside vanilla I've sampled in a few others were much more enjoyable. I also don't get much woodiness from either of these to add much balance which likely contributes to their downfall.

Pointless as this is already done on Fragrantica. Look up any fragrance (in pic related it's GIT) and scroll down to "This perfume reminds me of". You'll see bunch of frags voted by their similarity to the original. That's better and more objective than any fixed in the stone list.

Only real gripe with him is, I think its disingenuous when he talks about how long a fragrance lasts and what it becomes, when the majority of the reviews are really just, a first impression. So thats lame, other wise hes fine to me.
