i'm thinking of buying platinum stud earrings. why? primarily "platinum is cool" and while it is an expensive material, it isn't THAT insane to buy earrings made completely out of it. I'd go with "ear cuffs" à la Masaomi Kida - silver, custom-made, and no piercing required. Poorfags alternative: stainless steel (but good luck with putting them on and off easily), non-custom made (even worse, might not fit at all). On the bright side the poorfag alternatives are like 5 bucks on amazon/eBay and a tad more on etsy or dedicated cosplay stores so it's not like it'd be a huge loss.

The next time I shoved a needle through my ear lobe and rammed an earring into the hole without any preparation and it was over in a couple minutes. Op here. I got it professionally done at a tattoo/piercing place. It wasn't so bad. There was pain, but I didn't even flinch. Each ear was done in a quick smooth motion. I didn't see what the lady used, but it felt like I got skewered with a fish hook. The only thing that sucks about getting your ears pierced is that you can't lay on your side for 2-3 days. It's tender to lay your ear against a pillow. But after that I don't feel it at all.

I got small bar earrings, came with the piercings, that I was told to wear for three months. I got a reminder set on my phone.
