So I’ve started buying a few higher end frags to augment my pleasant but cheap tier. Love Fireplace but Spicebomb Extreme’s sillage is garbage on me for some reason - really disappointed. Eau Sauvage was a blind buy and by god am I delighted with it. Drakkar Noir although poorly regarded has insane longevity on me and by no means is complete trash!

It’s difficult because I genuinely haven’t found any clone that is nearly as light and transparent as my 2016 bottle of Aventus.

Club De Nuit Man intense captures the scent but in a clumsy, thicker, synthetic more cloying way.

Zara Vibrant Leather is much lighter and fruitier, but also comes across as synthetic, cheaper and has pretty shit longevity.

There are a few others like Montblanc explorer and L’Aventure. Truth be told, I think your best bet is getting it directly from a small fragrance shop in France/Paris. Even for me in the UK I can save some decent money getting it through one of those retailers, no names, you need to find it for yourself

I love it. It's one of the few 80's Power Scents that works today. It's still very obviously from a different era, but it's so well blended that it's always recognizable as a masterpiece.

If you can find it, the Sport version is even better, but it's been discontinued for years. It's a bright, fresh...leather chypre.

i would not say it's very sweet. not vanilla sweet. cardamon to me is like spicy greeny-sweet type of aroma that resembles mango in a way but dustier, if that makes sense. basically la nuit, that's full cardamon. a lot of stuff had cardamon as a note but you don't really feel it like in la nuit. if the one and ombre leather did not had lit listed i'm sure no one would pick it up.

maybe try a stove-top pot still. basically a double boiler with a glass lid, only there should be a small stainless steel pot sitting on top of your underwear. there should be no water inside the underwear chamber, just the larger pot.
the juice from your underwear will turn to steam as the temperature inside the chamber rises, but then with nowhere else to go the steam will be forced to recondense on the glass lid and, hopefully, drip down into the smaller steel pot. you'll have to experiment with temperatures as i don't know off the top of my head what temperature ball sweat is most stable at.

Coronabro here, just unwrapped my blind buy of Azzaro Visit. I can't smell it very much but I get kind of a sweet peppery woody incense, or at least I think I do. I think I can tell I like it though. This will go along well with other perfumes I have of the same category (Wonderwood, CDG 2 Man, Bentley Absolute)

Pic related I could not make heads or tales of at first, found it kind of plastic and deafening at first. But then letting it just come to me and smelling it more it's so intoxicating and addictive. That gay little fragrance dwarf wasn't lying about it, I have been devouring the sample. After going through so many blue frag samples and freshies I have found saint barts and this red fruit cocktail from hell to be the absolute best picks by far come summer. Maybe some virign island clones or something involving coconut are good but whatever

I got a handful of frags I like but I feel like I'm missing one or two to round out the collection

My decant of Areej Le Doré Agar de Noir arrived. Sadly the atomizer is broken so I can't give it a proper test but from what I can tell from sniffing the decant's head: it's good. I detect from it medicinal oud, some powdery violet+iris and chocolaty coffee note that finally smells like real coffee note. The entire composition is very dark and dense. It's like a rich, evil, dark, twisted brother of By Killian Black Phantom. Not sure if it's worth the price - I can't detect striking difference in quality in comparison to e.g. natural ouds used in Rania J frags but sniffing it from the atomizer might not do it justice. Will report later.

I need to get a new bottle of eros, eros deodorant, and then a bottle milestone (I have flame btw, its solid but never should of blind bought it, normal eros kicks the shit out of it) . Also the transparent bottles are in boxes usually, only out of them for this pick

Everyone hypothetically has money for niche, this is not a high ceiling hobby unless you wear roja or expensive oud shit, expensive smells cheap and cheap smells expensive with some overly synthetic junk in between that gets weeded out. You cannot with a straight face tell me those are not superstar picks, I am sorry but you can't. Milestone gets recommended from most milesime people, creed's batches suck. Maybe barts could be virgin water or a clone of it but it smells fuckign delicious. That list is full of great shit, even with drakkar I know the high quality alternatives but it does not hit the same with the chill shaving cream vibe. I was willing to buy scents from olympic orchards or zoologist or whatever but it didn't pan out. I also was going to do ten but found that really there was not much more hitting the nail and 2 high heat frags would be enough, doubling down on enjoyment with 8.

my deodorant, native I probably won't buy again because it doesn't feel like it's really blocking much and it has a faint vanilla scent. I don't know if it's the aluminum but old spic does a good job and fiji smells fantastic, I will probably replace native with some other less specific smelling old spice. I will also get the eros deodorant to layer with that

The thing is that there are hordes of people who blind buy every cheapie that gets good reviews online just to eventually get bored with 90% of them while they could simply put this money towards sampling and buying fewer, better frags that they'll like more. I could always try more and more and have it never end. I haven't tried a fraction of a lot of people but from what I have these are the winners, decent base of what smells like ____ and preferences. It's a very weird game of burning money on samples that add up, and blind buys that sometimes pay off, and giving shit away. Nothing like watches though or a lot of other hobbies in comparison, and it's easier to cut off at a point since you only have 1 sprayed on you at a time and often want to return to certain ones. The last 2 years I only wore versace fragrances to kind of side step having to explore the wider field of shit

My gf just commented that it smells like horse stables and she's not wrong. It's probably Laotian oud dominating the scent. Which is surprising as everyone on the internet claims that Indian oud is the most noticeable note in Agar de Noir. However, I can't detect any blue-cheese qualities here without focusing too much and I always associated Indian oud with them (Rania J Oud Assam being one of the prominent examples of that). Interesting but not particularly wearable fragrance. If I smelled it blindly I wouldn't say that this ALD is better than other, cheaper and more accessible on the market ouds by miles. I reckon Russian Adam is just monetizing the hype he gathered for his first two lines with all that artificial scarcity and doing 'drops' that sell in minutes every time.

But take what I say with a grain of salt. I've been to niche stuff for quite a long time, including ouds that I know more or less scent profile of depending on the region a particular oud comes from, but I know that there are people who smelled 100x more pure ouds than me and have vastly bigger knowledge, picking up way more nuances than I could dream of. For me as a casual niche oud sniffer, his stuff is definitely interesting but nothing that would drop my jaw immediately upon first spray. I've smelled this kind of composition elsewhere in niche houses already. Perhaps, I've chosen a wrong ALD to start with but after what I smelled, I would not pay the prices he's asking (and for sure never the premium that resellers ask).

Alexandria's clone of Tom Ford's Ombre Leather, called Untethered is OK. It's close, but not a >99% can't tell the difference at all! clone.

The real thing has a sweeter and more cardamom top note, the clone is a little more ambery. The clone is creamier compared to the brightness of the real thing.
Longevity is better on the clone, projection better on the real thing. Probably owing to the difference in concentration.
Both last all day.
