Not really, but you have to admit there are very clear price brackets in every watch category, and that they reflect things about you that you're clearly not very comfortable with since you're denying it.

Soon you'll have smartphone apps (or apps for augmented reality glasses) that will just pick up your entire wardrobe and give the entire information to everyone around you, just like your social media history, and other relevant stuff with facial and gait recognition. So your place in society will be immediately visible to everyone around you. Then what?

Just buy what youf ucking enjoy. Wear it and smile when you lookdown at your wrist. Anything else is playing to an imaginary crowd. The watchmaerket is so shit and soft right now that you can get good bargains if you look hard enough. Stop using watches as status symbols and just buy the fuck what make syou smile...that's what i did. The 300 chronograph is on the way..fucking stuck in shipping righ nw. Who the fuck cares. Youc anget a shitty Rolex Cellini for less than a Turdor todayon Chrono24...that should tell you that a) the secondary market is has prices determiend by who wants what and how many of them there are and b) who is retiring and who is looking to sell off their 'valuable' collction. Fuck these boomeers...they think they can sell their collections and retire on that alone. No. The market is saturated with so much bullshit (two-tone datejustsand other Rolex degernerates, Longines that no one wants, Paneria, etc.) that you can get a good deal if you want somethign no one wants. If you want something everyone is TOLD to want (stainless-steele ROWLEX sportsmodelgecschichte) then the prices are high right now but everything else is dropping like hotcakes. Save, search, and buy ...now is the time as the boomers want to retire. They can be forced into prices that YOU want..YOU HAVE THE PAOWER!

Budget was a big reason and the 39mm case size was another, was going to get the black dialed quartz model, but this felt good on the wrist and had a big more going for it on account of the spring drive movement. This comes is a fair bit cheaper than the hi beat, they are like $9k aud and a lot of the cool dialed ones are 41mm and potentially only available at the boutique in my country, which means no discount so paying full RRP. I was going to go for the fixed bezel black GMT as well, but I liked this the best.

Any thoughts here on the OP36 vs the DJ36?

Love the fluted bezel and jubilee on the stainless steel/white gold DJ, but OP36 has AR coating and a time-only watch diversifies my long-term collection a bit, I think, since I'm planning to get a washi Chronomaster soon too and long-term I'd love to go for the Overseas, assuming I don't get fired over the next few years.

Either way, dial recommendations would be appreciated. Currently leaning towards black dial if I go DJ36, but torn between black and silver/gold for the OP.

I wouldn't buy an OP because rolex is not a good buy right now and it has a smooth polished bezel.

That kind of bezel accumulates scratches easily and doesn't look good after regular wear.

Appreciate the thought on the polished bezel, it's definitely one of the things I prefer about the DJ (though at the same time i can't help but wonder if the fluted bezel cuts down the versatility a bit compared to a smooth one). I like mine, the two tone bracelet is pretty cool as well. The ticking i will say, is louder than I thought possible from a quartz. But it’s grown on me. Normally quartzes have so little sound and presence compared to a mechanical... this one you definitely notice. I think if you lived in a perpetually quiet room it could be like water torture lol. But yeah, I love the case ship, mix of polished and brushed finishing, chunky oyster bracelet, it’s a 10/10 for me. Really glad I made the trade too, because I’ve got an ultra grail coming to replace the traded watch.

Looking exclusively at watches themselves, A. Lange & Söhne should replace AP in the big 3. However people take the heritage meme very seriously, and Lange has an extremely shaky history (along with being German). JLC would probably be a better fit overall since at least they’re Swiss and have been making parts and movements for Vacheron, Patek, and AP for years anyhow. Hell, JLC provided the ultra thin movements for the first Royal Oak, Overseas, AND Nautilus, then sold the rights to the design to AP in the 2000s. This is the movement that still goes into the AP15202, the jumbo extra thin, the most desirable watch they make.
