Chances are he started getting bored at home and unconsciously either snacks more or loads his plate up more for a quick dopamine fix from mundane life. If getting an office job and gaining 45lbs doesn't get you in your 30s, getting bored and eating for a quick rush can get you when you turn 50+yrs.

The trick is to always have SOMETHING you genuinely enjoy or can mindlessly do that trumps food fixes. Instead of looking for food for fun a lot of skinny people will unconsciously turn on the tv, take a bath, clean, browse their phones, go to sleep, play with their cat/dog, make tea/coffee, fidget, list goes on. It doesn't have to be something with a lot of commitment like taking a walk every time you get bored (who wants to get dressed on a lazy Sunday shiiii) but literally anything that gives you a little bit of dopamine other than food. Getting older doesn't have to mean getting overweight, although getting squishier seems inevitable lol.

Nah, my dad ate 3000+ cal a day but he was a regular runner (he told me he just ran a 10k home from work every day) and I think he gained weight immediately once he stopped.

its been 2 weeks since the last time I checked in, now I lost an additional 2,5 kilos, and currently have 66,8 kg

I'm still eating around 1000 cal a day (my height is 158cm or 5'2)
and I do long walks 10,000 steps for exercise (smoke a cigarette or two a day, drink 2 cups of green tea and chew gum)

honestly this. if you dont have a physically demanding job/workout schedule then you just dont need as much food as literally everything in america tells you to eat. the portions are all to big, at any restaurant or fast food place unless you are an adult man. honestly kids meals are an appropriate size for short women without a lot of physical activity.

I also make sure to eat lots of protein, but sadly for me dairy fucks my shit up so I can't take protein shakes or eat high protein dairy, so I get an average of 50 grams of protein a day and from ALL sources I read, they say with my weight I'd need 2,5-3x as much to build any muscle, which is very worrying.

I'm not against drinking entirely, but beer is literally the worst thing if you're trying to slim down. Switch to hard liquor instead.

Strong cocktails like manhattans or martinis are some of my favorite low-cal drinks. If you want something sweeter then gin + sugar free tonic or vodka + diet coke are really good too. Basically try to avoid cocktails with juice in them, that's how they get you.

My friend is coming down this weekend and still thinks getting plastered is cool even when everyone else is not down to take it to 100%. He's pressured me before to drink a shit ton but yesterday I told him that won't be peer pressured into drinking more than I want to. Seemed kind of upset. But he's also 5'7" 207lbs, never stops complaining about his weight, and ONLY goes for alcoholic drinks that taste good and look pretty. Grenadine, juices, fish bowls, all that unnecessary crap that makes it taste like candy rather than alcohol. Glad I put my foot down but pissed I had to in the first place -and- he was upset about it.

I looked it up before and pretty much all hard alcohol is around the same calorie range (97-ish cals per shot). Really the only thing you have to worry about it what you're mixing it with. And staying hydrated, of course.

I've been sober around friends who are blasted and vice versa, I never pressured them to drink at those times and vice versa, if he is actually upset you don't drink with him then he may have a serious problem with his relationship to alcohol, and probably his relationships with his friends and boyfriend. If he keeps ever being pushy about drinking, confront him earnestly, and don't take excuses for his behavior. He's probably hurting somehow.
