I just picked up a new bracelet, vintage. Sized for my wrist, it's 28 grams without lugs. The watch it's going on is 38 grams, a heavy diver.

That makes for about a 70 gram watch. My current daily driver is 73 grams, and the heaviest watch I own is an 88 gram full titanium G-shock.

I can't imagine wearing a 100+ gram shitter day in, day out. Metal bracelets don't have to weigh a lot.

I just had to pull apart a cheap folded link bracelet with pliers because it didn't have enough adjustment.

Believe me, you're getting degloved before a cheap bracelet gives up on you. You don't need 3mm thick links, and fixing bracelet stretch takes about an hour if it's really bad. Milled clasps are alright, but solid links are just terrible.

If we had sensibly made solid lugs, I'd agree with you. I'd throw out my vintage stuff, happy in the knowledge that I can pick up a 2mm thick strap with decent quality and reinforcement in the right places.

Instead, modern straps are all 3mm thick minimum abominations that weigh twice what they should. Stamping parts might well be cheap, which makes it all the more pathetic that modern bracelets can't beat budget shit from 60 years ago.

In the Swiss situation, for sure. But as a simple complication, I've always wanted one. In other words, the mechanical design of creating a rotating cage containing the escapement is something I think is cool, like how a date complication is cool or a chronograph complication is cool. This just happens to be almost the cheapest way of getting it with the 'best' design in the price range. I'm buying it for me, not to show off to others.

The only other place i can think of is sea-gullmall.com (website will only load on a desktop pc) that's the actual official store of the seagull factory and they will ship overseas with a few e-mails to get things figured out, supposedly with warranty coverage, but i think most of seagull's tourbillion models are more expensive.
