I have possessed this watch for almost an year, and had been wearing it after a shower for 15 minutes before starting this review.
This watch smells like a *band-aid* that someone traded with *a hippie they'd spilled chai on*, so they apologetically donated their own band-aid, cleaned their own wound with *Bactine*, then dried out as well as they could and slapped on the dirty hippie's band-aid. Allow me to explain. [establishing shot] Coffee shop exterior, literally everything is *wood* to an inappropriate level, there is a filthy hippie, slouched, surveying around table-height, wearing a band-aid and a dark and handsome princely prince also with a band-aid, but fresh as he's just groomed, leaving the shop with his chai. The prince doesn't see the hippie, hunched over, scrambling for an ashtray that isn't there, bumps into him, spills his chai directly on the hippie's band-aid, apologizes, takes the hippie's band-aid, sprays him with Bactine [pocket Bactine!], swaps his dry, almost-clean, princely band-aid onto the hippie's "cigarette" burn or whatever, wrings the chai out of the hippie's band-aid as well as he can, sprays his own princely wound with Bactine, applies the hippie's band-aid. The hippie smelled like *patchouli*, obviously. Also, *there are flowers but like the corporate Plan-o-Gram kind and they always smell nice*.

It may be my absolute favorite watch, but I've only just received it and worn it. It's intoxicating, almost literally. One person's documented experience of this watch cannot really inform you, but I do insist that you smell this yourself. The comparison is valid and I recommend this over other Seikos, not that it's better, but you should likely get this one and possibly not another, so don't risk the capital.

Abso fucking lutely no! A limited release $10k watch will appreciate no more than 2-5% after many years, at best it will keep up with inflation. If a wristwatch is that important to you, you wouldn't ask 4chan. Me? I feel weird and act differently with a watch worth a couple racks on my wrist. Expensive watches get scratched, dinged, dented just like chinkshit. Yeah the sapphire crystal is harder, but they're not impervious. And the steel isn't fucking high carbon tempered knife blade steel. They all scratch, and so you have to act like a bitch princess wearing them.

I HAVE however, taken several loans out last year - strictly to put into crypto currencies. The best pump, I gained >400% on AAVE. The worst, was a 20% gain on some other shit coin. BTC is my savings account.

3.65% interest on $18k. I'll screenshot of you want.

Hell, I would honestly say you're better off taking loans out to reload .223 and build custom AR15s. Parts are dirt cheap still if you know where to look.

buying serious =/= buying soulless
where is your personal character in this collection? theres no YOU

?? of course it exists when buying specific watches are a conscious decison

a watch collection should be an extension of the person, not an investment portfolio

a guy who only buys gshocks obviously has a different personality from someone who only collects vintage dress pieces

the person cannot actually enjoy watch collecting and worries too much about making the "right" decision. And thus ends up with a weak spread of watches. Like damn, not even a nomos tetra or something very mildly interesting?

this is obviously not true
what clothes you wear everyday reflects your character

what watches you choose to like also reflects your character

you buy the watch to become a certain type of person, you're an extension of the watch, not the other way around.

Dragging this post back up because I have just stumbled across a dial with all four elements: outside minutes, inner 12/24hr, and a seconds subdial.
Obviously not as classy as the vintage Longines posted in the thread, but probably more attainable.

Seems to be a Raketa sub-brand, Pobedo, and is usually listed as a "Pobeda laco" for some reason. Don't know anything else tho.

Yeah, especially since before the quartz crisis Seiko had a number of 4hz movements in their mid-range watches. Lord Matic Specials were, and they had a similar spot in the line-up as Presage now. The same movement, revived (4S line), is now used only in Credor I think. Going even cheaper, most of their basic women's watches were 4hz.

The power reserve on those SNKs is pretty damn low. Their accuracy is mediocre at best even when operating on full reserve. That being said they are the quintessential next-to-no-budget entry level babby's first mechanical watch for the masses. They take a surprising amount of abuse and keep ticking. I've had mine for a long time and even had the rotor disconnect from the shaft. Opened it up, torqued it back on and was up and running again. Don't sweat the scratches, those watches look better after being well abused. Don't sweat the lack of power reserve, your experience is perfectly normal. I feel like it's not great I'm just grasping at straws now. Thanks for stopping me doing anything stupid. I've bought watches I wasn't totally in love with before and regretted it.

I saw the seals in the other thread. I'm into the skin diver look. I feel they are super versatile and understated. I don't know that the seals brings enough to the table over other 62mas inspired divers ( unless I am missing something.)

I've been really feeling the proxima, it's less than £200 looks like it has a sandwich dial, inoffensive name for a china bring ( no unicorn logo)

Ideally I want to keep it compact. I've got 7.5inch wrists, don't want to go over 40mm unless wears smaller. I like the look of the SPB143J1 but don't want to spend a grand on it at this point.

I think you've taken the wristlet shit to heart too much.

The golden rule is 80-90% of your wrist width for lug to lug. I'm a wristlet with 50mm wrist width (6 inch circumference), which means 40-45mm lug to lug, and a watch case of 34-39mm (assuming 3mm lugs). You can probably wear a bigger watch, you've got average wrists.

Just ordered pic related, please roast me and also recommend additional straps. I already have the black shell cordovan it comes with and a spare brown calf leather.

Was thinking a perlon for summer but not sure on color and it's hard to find a 2 piece. I don't want to hide the exhibition caseback with a NATO or similar.

This is so incorrect it's almost funny. The crystal on one Omega Speedmaster on the Apollo 15 mission was damaged so the astronaut used his personal backup Bulova watch. The Speedmaster was standard issue for almost a decade at that point and, among other things, timed the engine burn necessary to save the Apollo 13 astronauts when their electronic equipment was fried.

The crystal straight up popped out, it wasn't "damaged". Bulova did all the real time keeping for Apollo, one mission where they needed to time a whole 14 second burn after an exploding oxygen tank took out half the instruments could've been managed by any fucking watch in the world.

But hey, keep on sucking off that speedy.

Right, and it failed. The Bulova managed to survive at a higher temperature during EVA 3.

Plenty of watches made it to the moon. Hell, a fucking Rolex made it and sold at auction, although it wasn't on a wrist. Who knows how many watches actually made it, NASA were pretty fucking strict about only having one official "moon watch" despite plenty of astronauts taking personal watches.

Apollo 15 used a Bulova stopwatch over the speedy because the dial was too dark and they had to time something to within 0.3 of a second. But all any retard ever talks about is the speedy. The magical miracle watch that paid its way through government trials and made it to the moon. Who did the government go with for MISSION CRITICAL functions? What movements powered the bombs that could've killed a few astronauts, or timed the rovers? Hmm, really makes you think.

one of my most worn and loved watches is an old seiko diver I got in my first year of high school from my parents. It's not worth 20k but it's rare now and priceless to me

It doesn't have a night mode so it just hangs idle on the wall. Generally not a very good clock.
