Good job anon. My advice would be to take it easy and give a proper full-day wear for every of these scents. I know that it might be tempting to spray every limb with a different fragrance when you got so many samples but don't do it. These scents really need a full day to appreciate all nuances and developmen. Zootopians where the first frags where I actually could tell a stark difference between different phases of development in some of them. Until I tested them I thought that the entire concept is mostly made up as 95% fragrances smell linear.

I don’t really smell the amber or vanilla yet but that might appear later; right now it mainly smells like damp wood and what I assume musk smells like(never tried a perfume with musk.)

I'm trying out a sample of Ormonde Jayne Tolu right now and it's very good like most of their perfumes but I'm getting this weird feeling of second-hand embarrassment for the house/Geza Schon. It's sort of a "Really, you're just gonna take this absolutely spectacular base and tweak it 20% for every different perfume in the house?" feeling. I mean I'm a big fan of Ormonde Jayne but it just seems kind of low-effort, and it makes it hard for me to justify buying any more than just the OJ Man that I own.

There is an interview of Christine Nagel about new Hermes H24 in German.

“I imagined the wearer of this new fragrance differently, younger, more modern. His style is pure, but has a lot of character. This meant, translated into a perfume: the classic wooden note on which most men's fragrances today are based was out of the question. Instead, I rushed for green and botanical notes.
At the same time, I also wanted a fragrance with a new structure.
Most fragrances have a vertical structure, a note that supports in the background – like a spine. And for men, this is usually a woody one. For my new fragrance, I chose muscatel sage as the spine. The note is composed of different essences and absolues. It is very green, but also very sensual.”

“The volatility of a fragrance is related to the weight of the molecules. That's why you automatically have top, heart and base notes. What makes my fragrance special is that the green and botanical notes are present all the time and not just, as in the traditional sense, in the top notes at the beginning.
What is the botanical touch? The narcissus. A very masculine flower – of course also because of the legend about the self-loving young man. I tamed this note by means of biochemical processes. Add to that rosewood – don't be fooled by the name, it's not woody, but fresh and green. [The idea] is to create freshness without resorting to a note such as bergamot or orange.”

“One ingredient is still missing – Sclarene. A very powerful metallic note. Warm, sensual, refined, but delicate. It symbolizes for me a typical fragrance that I smell every day at work: my studio is above that of Véronique Nichianian, who is responsible for men's fashion at Hermés. Sclarene has the metallic touch that I combine with the scent of freshly ironed fabrics that blows up to me.”

I know both and not really. Tolu is way more resinous floral and oily if it makes sense. I know where it's coming from as their juniper-clary sage-cedar-peppery signature base accord is prevalent in all of Schoen's stuff done for OJ but all of these frags are substantially different for me

not quite, notice the big chunk of glass on the bottom of the bottle. cheap fragrances don't have that and also a lot of niche have cheaper looking bottles. also i don't think that rhombus bottle shape is too common. probably they conveyed a bottled that best suit the fragrance, don't think they have a reason to cheap out on a few more cents/1 euro per bottle. it's not like terre d'hermes bottles look much more expensive, they are also simplistic. but I agree, the bottle is very discrete, maybe it will make more sense when smelling the fragrance.

It's unironically what I imagine a horror game where you get trapped in a cave with giant honey bee's would smell like.
The initial dark burnt honey smell is so harsh and overwhelming that it almost felt apocalyptic at first; It's kind of what I imagine when I hear people talk about Tyrannosaurus Rex.

It calmed down to a nice flowery honey(and also burnt marshmallow?) scent now, but I'm still unsure if I like it. Interesting experience though.

Been there, done that.
The clones are never, let me repeat, never as good as originals.
You will always feel tacky like wearing a fake Rolex (not that I want to defend prices of some stuff like Creed - it's ridiculous).
At the end of the day you could just get a decant of the original stuff instead of a strictly inferior clone. Life's too short to make these kind of compromises - just get what you really want.
If you got around 5 bottles in your rotation - then a 5-10ml decant will last you months.
Some of these clones cost ridiculous money themselves. I can kind of understand some cheap skate buying a clone for $20 but to buy one for $100 you must be a retard.
Fuck clones, fuck arab frags, fuck youtuber scamming whores shilling shit just to be paid some pennies or get some free bottles.

Is there anything worthwhile to try in line with Silver. I got it as a random cheapie but really like it. It's rough and synthetic but something longer lasting and and more upscale in line with this scent would be really nice. I see no need to support Creed, though I'm tempted to sample the original. I'm however treating this as a sample of it. Are the listed similar fragrances on fragrantica like Mefisto etc. similar enough in feel/good enough to sample?

In line with discussion on clones I agree they're a waste of time and definitely not worth the price but for 5 bucks it was a lot more justifiable as a kind of sample than a clone. Generally though don't waste your time and even for 5 bucks I should have probably just sampled the original or some of the fragrantica similar listed ones like Mefisto. Clones rarely deliver imo. Sample, get a tight and nice collection for use then sample/decant for more. If a scent catches you, buy a proper bottle and it'll having meaning and be more special than some half assed cobbled together arab clone. I personally have no use for more than 10 frags in my rotation so bar that just sample and decant.

i wouldnt call it large, and ive smelled designers when i was in the mall, but thats about it. Everything smelled similar, I dont like blue, sweets, or aquatics, so I never really bought anything for years because I thought thats what all perfumes were like. I wasnt aware of the snobbery, or niche, I just started looking for something interesting and different and discovered all these companies that made scents. I dont have niche taste for weird shit, which is why i wouldnt call myself a nichetard. I just want something high quality that I enjoy every facet of, something I didnt find with most mall scents. Theres probably a few I wouldnt mind at all, I have some chanels, maybe a prada or two would be ok, that new hermes I want to smell, but its all the same old tropes right now. It just feels like fast food to me, yeah its ok every now and again, but how could you eat that all the time? I wish I got into it in the late 90s or 2ks when designers were better, or just performed better, its pretty shit right now with ifra, etc. I autistically research everything I buy, its part of the fun, I dont want to be disappointed later. Once I buy it, I'm done thinking about it, and move on to enjoying it. Last year I bought a hegel h95 integrated amp and some zu speakers. Took 3+ months to come to that decision, but im super happy, and dont look at audio shit anymore, same with perfume. Ye bro, that's what clones are in the fragrance world. Don't undrestinate the current technology, i think there are machines that spit out the dose of actual ingredients so it's not like they are guessing. Possibly the difference in smell comes from lower quality ingredients or maybe they don't go for exactly the same smell. There's plenty reason they exist, don't tell me if your current favorite gets discountinued and there's a clone, you won't be tenpted to at least try it

Of those I've smelled I only disliked moss cologne (unlike Dan from wafts who loves this) -- way too much oakmoss for me.
Of those I've tried I like amber cologne and musk cologne the best, both for their amazing citrus opening and musk cologne for the really clean musky depth.
I also enjoyed musk khabib quite a bit, this is much more musky and deep, but still not dirty and offensive in any way.
Vesna cologne is a fun one with a really strange tea note that I can't quite love, but I do put on a spray from my sample sometimes just to remember how it is.
