I picked up a decant of pic related this morning from a local fragrance qt3.14. I'm surprised how soft this scent is. It opens with gorgeous powdery iris butter scent with some addition of popcorn. Then the popcorn becomes more prominent as the time goes and at the same time it seems like it's getting more and more burnt as some smoky notes are coming out. It's completely wearable and snice despite the name and the brand.

Hello Sirs, incest of the morning is:
>DELHI In the disorder of New Delhi, its many narrow streets, the heaps of houses, this atmosphere overheated with a thousand scents goes up to the nostrils: vanilla, musk, benzoin, smoked wood, eucalyptus, an explosion of perfumes.
I also found notes listed on nose.fr.
>head notes : anise, eucalyptus
>heart notes : woody notes, grass
>base notes : benzoin, musk, myrrh, vanilla
What the hell is this bullshit? How a literal incense stick may develop anyhow if it is linearly burned?

I'd rec JCE's, it's probably 75% things you already know if you frequent fragrantica or you're at the point you can name who did this and that perfume but there's some really interesting bits, he not only talks about perfume but the industry and gives context. His writing is also rather witty, not out there like the Turin duo but certainly not dry science book.

The third guide is from 1994 originally. TS translated it to English and it was published last year. It is his first book.
The little book of perfumes contains reviews from all three books. My version has the updated reviews as of 2011. I find it handy.
The secret of scent is about his theory how the scent works. About 30 percent of the book are his stories though, like how he worked in Moscow or smelled Fougere Royal in Osmotheque.
He’s writing a forth book of reviews btw.

Interesting. Isn't there an overlap between the 2008 guide? He already reviews even very old scents in the 2008 guide so I am not sure what would be the new content for 1994 version.

Interesting. But desu now that his videos are online posted on vimeo for like $3 I don't know how much sense would it make to buy it. Additional stories would be nice though.

I’ve had an idea for a while now that I’d like to see. Something sort of inspired by Szechuan food. It’d be an oriental, something spicy and fiery but not too sweet. Dry citrus peel, Sichuan peppercorns, black and pink peppercorns, red pepper, smoke, sandalwood, coriander, cardamom, star anise, ginger, maybe a touch of vanilla, but that dry vanilla like in Straight to Heaven. Maybe throw in a little rum or cognac to round it out.

Actually, something like that might be kinda cool for like a Zootopian Dragon frag.

Different fragrances really. Used to own and like both. L'Homme (I understand that we're talking about the OG not LNDLH - that I simply dislike) was a gift from one of my ex-gfs when I was in early 20's. It was nice, fresh but with enough substance provided by spices. She literally told me that 'she's giving me it as she wants her man to smell like that'. Now I'm 28, learned way more about myself on the way, Eau Sauvage was my own choice not a gift and I wouldn't change it for L'Homme. It just vibes way better with me and how I want to present myself. The similarities are that both are clean, citrus-aromatic-fresh spicy scents that both would work very well in professional setting. Eau Sauvage is a bit more mature because of mossy-earthy undertones (but not dated). Both are available literally everywhere so simply go out, smell them and decide yourself which one is a better choice for you.

A Russian guy from basenotes have reviewed it already. He says it is an ambroxan fougere.

“First, the bottle seems very simple like something from mid 2000s from a Montblanc type of a brand. Hermes could do much better!
The advertising presents a guy in a megapolis. Also the theme from 2000s. No connection to sport cars!
The scent itself is surprising to me. This is not the thing I expected from Hermes and Nagel in 2021. A fruity fougere with a modern twist. The first comparison that comes to mind is Diptyque Eau de Minthe. The same combination of a typical fougere structure (imagine TF Beau de Jour) with synthetic woods and an overdose of ambroxan in the base. I get something friity (melony) in the dry down that makes the scent a bit sweeter than I prefer and a bit similar to Bleu de Chanel.
The fragrance is very powerful. I did 3 sprays and feel myself uncomfortable like everyone around me smells it. I face the same effect with Bleu de Chanel, maybe the fans of Bleu could love H24, who knows.”

An interesting choice of clothes for the ad btw.

Jesus, what a disappointment. I hoped that perhaps Hermes is going to be the first one to end the entire ambroxanmania we’ve had for last 10 years and then Chanel, Dior, Versace will follow the suit and think of something new too. Nope, they’re just trying to monetise it very late. So we’re about to see another few years of reign of Sauvage,BdC and alikes. Isn’t Sauvage a ‘dads perfume’ already for young zoomers?

I think it's important to consider that fragrances are a common gift around the holidays and Father's Day, and those gift sets/what sales associates push are going to naturally be in line with general sales trends. Even if an older guy goes in himself to buy a scent, the sales rep might not try to sell him Eros/Ultra Male but I can't imagine they're suddenly going to pull out Eau Sauvage/Chanel Pour Monsieur just based on his age either.

>The agarwood mentioned in the bible (Ps 45:8; Pr 7:17; Ca 4:14 ) was popularly attributed to the Hindi Agallocha species of agarwood plant that exists primarily in the northern state of Assam, India and its neighbouring regions. The tree is large and can grow to a height of 100 feet. The inner core of the trunk and some branches are impregnated with resin and an odoriferous oil from which comes the highly prized perfume. Apparently attaining its most aromatic state when in decay, the wood is sometimes buried in the ground to hasten the decaying process. The wood is then to be used for incense burning in order to utilise its fragrant scent and plentiful odoriferous oil.
>It was mentioned in the bible that Nicodemus brought “a roll of myrrh and aloes” weighing about 100 Roman pounds (33 kg), to be used in preparing for Jesus' departure. Nicodemus’ contribution must have required a considerable outlay of money on his part. While some apply the term “aloes” in this text to the plant of the lily family that now bears the botanical name of Aloe vera, the product of this plant (a thick juice from the leaves) is employed not for its aroma but as a purgative and for other health-related purposes. The aloes brought by Nicodemus was highly likely the same aloeswood or agarwood product as that referred to in the Hebrew Scriptures and Muslim Hadiths.

Bortnikoff is good, I own Musk Cologne and Musk Khabib and I'm very happy with them. I actually really like Ensar but like I said he's a big time FOMO pusher. I don't think Areej le Dore is worth a shit, I've never smelled the real hyped stuff like Siberian Musk though. If it's as good as Prin's Mriga (which is said to smell very similar) then he's at least sometimes a good perfumer.

Wearing another of my newest sample order, today Interlude.
I ordered jubilation/interlude/reflection just to re-smell some of the amouages, and I can say that I still don't think they're at all interesting enough for their price point. They also have one that is a polite nod towards Americans.
>No one, before they changed the world, had imagined a New Civilization born solely of audacity. 10 000 men had, one morning, like millions of others, left their homelands for Freedom. They had no hope of return. But unlike their fellow travelers, the dreams they carried were larger than life. Dreading no obstacle, they would celebrate every moment of their lives. Within 100 years, they built a country where nothing is set forever: the United States of America. They became: The “Upper Ten”.

Moth and Rabbit are inspired all by movies and all created by Mark Buxton (the guy who did the silver CdG 2). Their Parasite and La Haine are fucking great experimental fragrances on their own but the fact how the notes development progresses together with the movie plot is a spark of genius. You can't get way more plot-driven though.
>MOTH AN RABBIT IS AN EXPERIMENTAL PERFUME BRAND FOUNDED IN BERLIN IN 2016 BY ELKE FILPES AND CHRISTIAN CHOI, WITH AN AMBITION TO TRANSLATE STORIES AND EMOTIONS INTO OLFACTIVE PRODUCTS AND EXPERIENCES.
>ALL THE WORK OF MOTH AND RABBIT IS ABOUT CREATING PRODUCTS WITH A DEEPER SENSE OF MEANING AND VALUE THAT AID IN HUMAN EXPANSION AND PROVIDE ACCESS TO A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR SOCIETY AND SMELL IN GENERAL. WE BELIEVE THAT IN ORDER TO CREATE A NEW AWARENESS FOR FRAGRANCES IN THE MINDS AND HEARTS OF THE MODERN CONSUMER, THE CREATION OF FRAGRANCE MUST BEGIN BY LOOKING TOWARDS NEW OLFACTIVE INSPIRATIONS THAT EXPAND THE MEANING AND THE ROLE THAT FRAGRANCES PLAY IN OUR LIVES. THE PRINCIPLES OF TRANSFORMATION AND REPRODUCTION, SYMBOLS OF MOTH AND RABBIT, DEFINE THE WAY WE PRODUCE AND COMMUNICATE THE FRAGRANCES. EXCEPTIONAL FILMMAKERS, ARTISTS, INDIVIDUALS, WHO TELL UNIQUE STORIES THROUGH THEIR BODY OF WORK SERVE AS AN INSPIRATIONAL BRIEF TO THE PERFUMER, WHO TRANSLATES EXCEPTIONAL STORIES INTO EXCEPTIONAL PERFUMES.
>MOTH AND RABBIT CONCEIVES PERFUMES USING THE HIGHEST QUALITY MATERIALS AVAILABLE, AND A MINIMALISTIC DESIGN APPROACH WITH A BLANK OF LUXURY AND IRONY, TO FUEL A RENEWED APPROACH TO MODERN LUXURY. THE FRAGRANCES ARE SOLD IN 10 COUNTRIES IN A VERY HIGH-END EXCLUSIVE NETWORK WORLDWIDE.
