Hi all

So I'm very new to the watch thing. I've been wanting to get a decent one for months and I finally did so a couple of weeks back (Victorinox Fieldforce) and I absolutely love it. It makes me feel amazing cutting about town with it on. Thing is, i'm hooked now, I want to get a couple more entry level watches (Seiko 5 and another Victorinox and a dresser) so that I have the basis of a collection, and am able to change my watch to my outfit beofre I start to sit down and seriously consider something more serious.

So being brand new and all I would like your advice on what website/s forums are good for used legit luxury watch sales. There's so many sites out there you just have no idea how dodgy they are.

I am UK based so a UK website would be ideal but so be it if not.

Thanks all.

People rage-posting about somebody "supporting" their "terrible business practices" of having wait-lists and preferred members who get first dibs on more rare watches?

There is also the other side on here though, where you'll be called a retard for buying anything remotely expensive that isn't a Rolex because "nobody will know that it's expensive".

This watch looks so damn good, better than almost any other sports chronograph on the market, it’s chronometer certified, and it has a column wheel and vertical clutch within an in-house movement. And it’s relatively cheap, available, and doubtlessly generously discounted.

But it’s fucking thick bros, 15.5mm.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it's easily thr best price for one, your alternatives are the addies/addiesdive version and the steel dive version. There is also the san martin version but that is specially a copy of the iwc flieger case so it has pretty long lugs. Skeleton watches are now part of almost all watch brand portfolios and have been around for decades. Most don't achieve what Zenith did with the Defy. The Royal Oak looks like crap compared to it. I think now that we are reaching perfection in the movement department, finishing and materials a lot of companies will revisit their skeleton options.

Hello. I'm looking for a watch similar to Rotary ref. GB05325/01. I need an analog watch, highly readable and which shows current date (day of the week, day of the month and the month). Preferably arabic numerals. I would buy this Rotary, but (unlike a bit pricier models) it is not SWISS MADE and I don't know how's the quality of those.
Any advice?

The accutron actually had an interesting movement with the little buzzing tuning fork, though. Most auto movements are very visually dull, and I'd personally go for an accutron with the coils hidden behind a proper dial any day of the week. I'd consider a display caseback on one though.

Ultimately a watch is designed to be read. A cluttered dial might be visually interesting, but it's also visually noisy. Perfection in movement is a good joke too, the vast majority of watches on the market are completely destroyed by your accutron there in terms of specs. And that's an outdated design that died 40 years ago.

You have to accept the fact that 99% of people you come across will not know what this is and will frankly probably think it looks odd and/or cheap with the rubber strap. No but they are dumb and ugly. Just do worry about it and the new glass and having someone swap it would bw your maintenance after 10 years since the solar capacitor will last longer then that. It would only cost like $30 with paying someone to swap it.

No I'm buying it to actually wear it as my only watch (with maybe a really cheap beater) but the stigma of being "not Rolex" and not having one at an advanced age is just too strong, it's so dumb and I know it's dumb.

If you want other people to recognise you have an expensive/nice watch, and the chance to sell it to get most of your money back out of it later on, go with Rolex.
