I wanna get my first tattoo but I sent an email to an artist and a shop and have heard nothing back in 3 weeks. /fa/ is this normal? I wanna respect their work and stuff. Pic unrelated.

>I wanna respect their work and stuff
>and stuff

Spoken like a true tattoo fan just reeling out some line that means nothing to justify their poor life choices.

But damn son. Are you a child? Send a follow up e-mail or give them a call. Can't believe this really warrants a thread.....

It's generally not normal to wait so long, but ya know, there is a certain Wuhan Flu around so these places only accept so many customers per day if any at all right now.

I sent a follow up email already. As for why the post was so light, I figured literally anything I said on here I would be given shit for and somehow with how little I said you still gave me shit.

Good to see I'm going about it right though so thank you.

I gave you shit because I assume you're a teenager and I am trying to actually help you before you make a mistake. The age of tattoos is over. Don't be a basic bitch. Be better. Be more.

I'm mid twenties.
What makes tattoos over? I'm positioned to be able to work from home for the rest of my life so I don't know why getting a tattoo for myself is a bad thing. But maybe you have some "education" you could teach me.

Tattoos rose with the rise in tattoo shows, they became mainstream and popular, their usage is now falling in the zoomer populations. IT was just a fad in which people got tattoos to fit in once they turned 18.

Nothing to do with where you work, just about respect for yourself. But if you want to be "unique" while being totally basic, it's no sweat off my sack.

not that guy, but fuck him. I have tattoos as well and recently got a degree and started working at a "serious" tech company. At first I thought I should hide my tattoos under long sleeve shirts but as I warmed up to my colleagues I showed them eventually and literally nobody had a problem with it.
It's not that tattoos are over, it's just that they are normal as fuck now.

>>15900197
>3 weeks
definitively not normal. Sometimes shops are really overbooked to a point where the wait list is multiple months long, but a good shop will advertise this on their site and at least respond to e-mails or invite you for consultation in this time. Currently many shops around the world are closed down completely due to covid however, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I would double check wether they are indeed open and what their site says about the wait. And then call them or send a follow up and politely ask wether they got your message, its no big deal.

I mean I get it. This is the fashion board. I didn't really care about fashion but I figured someone here would be able to answer my question.

Thanks for the info though

Aw OP, ive had the same experience when i was younger. tattoo artists can be kinda pretentious and too cool, just try a different artist who isnt a hipster douche

>> No.15900405

Thank for all this. Yeah they are still open but have strict guidelines for letting people in. The website doesn't advertise how busy they are or what to expect and the artist had on her portfolio to expect responses to take up to a week, but my emails to her are three weeks and one week old now so I dunno. She was really good too. Damn shame if I can't get something from her.

I can do more research then yeah. I'll look for another artist that I think can get what I want done. Thank you!

>I have tattoos

So you're biased.

>I have tattoos as well and recently got a degree and started working at a "serious" tech company.

I nor anybody else made any arguments about this or hiding tattoos. Just that they're basic sheep shit now and in future people will know that's why you got them as a conformist.

>it's just that they are normal as fuck now.

Yes. Basic. Conformist. Sheeple. Go you.

I have heard it's not actually that bad and I feel like you could argue that about trying to buy clothes. They all go out of style anyways.
I think it'll make me happy so I'm going to do it. That's just how it be

that's why I mentioned it, ya. I like them a lot.

>anybody else made any arguments about this or hiding tattoos
your post and the reply made it sound like that's what you meant by "mistake", my bad.

So do you genuinely believe not having tattoos is more of a statement of individuality? The only winning move is not to play?
Why be on a fashion forum at all then? Why not try to dress as bland as possible for the off chance that I'll look back at pictures of my outfits and cringe?
Isn't that what conformists do, living in fear of being judged?

Also, I disagree that tattoos are dead with zoomers. They are getting even more crazy with it and getting them on their faces and shit, while having tattooed arms was pretty much the endgame when I grew up.

>Why be on a fashion forum at all then?

because tattoos are not fashion lol. Almost every tattoos thread on here receives little interest and ten fold more hate. Tattoos are anti-fashion. They are conformist stagnation of people who pick something from a window many times and those that come out with scripted lines such as "it shows my personality" or "it shows my appreciation for art" like every 1 in 2 say.

>Isn't that what conformists do, living in fear of being judged?

Young people with tattoos get judged far more by tattoo crowds than the other way around. Your tattoos are you symbol of fear and that you wish to fit in.

And if you want me to go one further, studies indicate those with tattoos have a higher degree of mental instability than those without. No, I don't mean super crazy, but on average higher. All factors are taken into consideration. Even to the point we can predict groups with higher instability to higher tattoo usage.

Those with face tats indeed rate a lot higher on instability and we have seen a great rise in that within zoomers so it would make sense you at least see more of them.

I don't mean tattoos being bad for employment, or even that I care who has tattoos. But I am against this whole "I'ma bit unique... I have tats and piercings..."

Yeah, about as unique as a dog with 4 legs.

Just stop and think about how shit tattoos actually look. If you like some art, just put it on a t shirt. Wear it on a necklace. Don't make your body look worse than a ghetto bus stop. Unless you end up going to prison. Tattoos belong on criminals.
