Cheapskate addition
It's pretty obvious at this point Seiko wants to move into the higher priced market and away from the "good for being cheap" branding it's made for itself. Will any brands take up that space? There's other brands in that range but to my knowledge Seiko was the best known.

This thread is about the appreciation of watches and their design, their history, and the engineering and materials that are required to make a functioning timepiece.

Coinciding with the fact malls are dying out in the us. I assume these places were high driving places of sales for seiko at stores like macys because of constant foot traffic. There is no point in them making iso rated shitters when they can make cheaper priced products that will sell more in a larger population base. The naruto and gundam watches are examples of the cheaper ones. I’ve heard those have been sold out constantly there. They are in turn using those to hopefully turn those young buyers into future grand seiko owners, much as how they used the sxk, various other divers, and the old presage line here.

Vintage watches need servicing to do their job. If you want to use it, it needs to be serviced. If you just "invest" then I don't know. You may wanna avoid sending it to the manufacturer if you want to keep it as original as possible.

Polishing depends on the case. If it has crisp lines, even a little polishing can turn it into a shiny but ugly blob. Some case shapes will not suffer so easily.

Because GS has the same problem as the rest of the modern Seiko line, they're designed for Americans.

The most pandered to I've ever felt was when I put on an old vintage seiko watch, and I didn't have to take out 8+ links like with every modern shitter. To wear that watch, fatties had to buy those dumb extenders instead.

36mm for dress watches, 38 for tool and diver watches. Anything more is fucking absurd.

Right now Link and GRT are extremely likely to go up. I am yet to see any serious analysis claiming otherwise. The fundamentals of Link and GRT are the most ‘adult’ / serious of any crypto since the introduction of Ethereum imho.

Putting your money into those two will certainly be more productive for you than a watch that would sit on your wrist.

This is unbelievably false unless you're living in a major capital / tech hub. People in regional areas or minor capitals can live comfortably on around 6 figures, and retire early if they focus on saving.
