I've got some atrophic acne scarring from severe cystic acne in 2015. Certain lighting makes it look like a giant crater in my cheeks, particularly in dark rooms like at concerts or parties. But most of the time, it's hardly or not even noticeable.

I've heard that subcision is a great treatment, but I'm always worried about the off-chance of something going wrong and making everything worse.

If you were in my situation, would you just leave the skin as is? Or would you think it's worth it to pursue treatment?

I've been on Tretinoin from 2015-2018, and resumed it again in March 2020. I've been using BHA, AHA, niacinamide serum, and The Ordinary Peeling Solution. I also just got lactic acid yesterday as I hear that can help with atrophic scarring, but since the scars are 5 years old, I'm not too hopeful to see new or drastic results. For hyperpigmentation concerns I use 30% vitamin c cream.

Mine is patchy in some areas. Unless yours is *very* patchy, I'd try growing at least a goatee. Full perfect beard is nice, but a patchy beard can be /fa/ as fuck. People are too obsessed with perfection; perfection is overrated.

Thanks! I'm not wearing skin makeup in either pic tho haha, foundation makes atrophic scars look worse unfortunately. It doesn't settle into the scars right and draws more attention to them. It's promising to hear about your friend's success with lactic acid though - Maybe my old scars aren't too doomed after all.
