I got my Parfums Vintage samples in.

Emperor Extrait (Aventus clone) is really good, smells better than the real thing, and that's not a poorfag cope. Parfums Vintage built their brand on Aventus clones, they've got every reason to make them good.

Intrigo Devastante Intense (By Man clone) smells very close to my decant of By Man. I haven't tried the sample of the non-intense version.

Sublime Musc (Clone of Bois D'argent) is boring. I have only tested it on paper but it mostly smells like vanilla to me. Maybe skin will light it up. I haven't tried the real thing.

Pour Homme (Clone of Gucci Envy) smells like ginger and cardamom, just like the notes say. It reminds me a lot of Arquiste's The Architect's Club. It smells very similar. Also a similarity to Nishane - Ani because of the ginger, but I think it's much better than that overhyped shit.

Imbue (Gucci Pour Homme II clone) is very unique. I haven't smelled the original. I get violet leaf and tea, and might smell the pimento.

Alpine Winds (Creed Himalaya) is a very pleasant, synthetic smelling "freshy" with tea. That's the best way I can describe it.

Enigmatic Man (Escada Magnetism clone) is a great date/going out perfume. Reminds me of CH Man Prive to be honest, but I like it more.

Yeah that holder cost me $2 at my local new age shop, so what? It gets the job done, and at this point I've prioritized spending money on the actual incense rather than burning implements. I've been transparent about this--I only started buying incense about 6 months ago after having been pointlessly prejudiced against it my whole life, and I started posting about it on /fa/ last week. "Incense anon" is convenient shorthand because very few ppl here seem to post about incense or take it seriously. Maybe just you and one other anon? I told an anon I'd give my thoughts about the Les Indemodables Vanille Havane sample I got. I've been wearing it for a couple hours now.
Right off the bat it hit me with with alcohol and fruity floral smell. Really something that keeps drawing you in to smell again. I also ordered Vanille Fatale by Tom Ford and put it on my other wrist to compare the two. Havane has a much darker vibe to it, it's definitely not a vanilla extract or vanilla cake mix type smell. I really can't stop coming back to it, it's hard to pick out individual smells because it feels quite layered. The one thing I figured out I was smelling in the first few minutes that some may find a little off-putting is clove. It's blended with other fruits and floral, but I imagine some may just be absolutely against the note. As I let it set longer I'm getting much less of that clove and I think the tobacco notches down a bit too.
This is kind of a cringe comparison but the best imagery I can think of to describe the atmosphere is like Pirates of the Caribbean. This stock photo is how I imagine the scent, but with fruits soaking in the rum. It's really good and I can tell it's gonna last long. There's almost a thick "stickiness" to the scent. I think I'm gonna get the 50 ml. It's likely too rum/boozy to wear to an office job, but I think it's pretty versatile for different seasons and occasions. If someone is looking for compliments I'd say go elsewhere, the clove and booze are gonna be a bit much for some (plus you can get several good compliment-getters for this 1 50 ml price). But damn I'm loving this and have the disposable income for it.

If anyone else has smelled, would like to hear your thoughts.

I've never smelled that but most perfumes that people describe as smelling like an old woman are good perfumes. Examples that I've run across are Shalimar, Mitsouko, Diaghilev, Chypre Palatin, and a bunch more that I can't remember. L'Instant pour Homme is undeniably elegant and it's quite pleasant on the skin. Understated, classy, all that good stuff. But my association of old women smelling like it is extremely strong.

Full context, someone recommended this when I said I was looking for a summer-safe alternative to Encre Noire. I received a few responses and did additional research, but the way people described this one in particular gave made it seem the most interesting.

Now I'm thinking whoever mentioned it was trolling. Should've just gone with other vetivers instead of something outside the box like this. Although in the long run, I think I'll just stick with Encre Noire and go light on the sprayer during warm days. The other vetivers are too expensive and EN is just too good a match for me.

Based Turin hivemind. Jokes aside, I tested a lot of his scents and liked two. Both were not worth the money though. I think Turin is in general very sceptical of pseud’luxurious’ houses. His reasoning seems to be that if I’m gonna pay $300+ for a bottle this shit be better lifechanging and his 1 star reviews are more of signs of disappointment than statements about quality. That being said, his 1/5 reviews are gems and I always piss myself laughing reading this old trolling bastard.

It's cool, no offense taken. Good news today is that I received a set of coils of Shoyeido's Nijo/Avenue of the Villa incense (from their mid-range Horin line). It's my first time getting incense in this format, and I'm really digging it. One of these coils burns for about 2 1/2 hours, but only a fraction of that is necessary unless you really want to bathe in the scent. Which I would definitely do with this one--it's a gentle, post-rain petrichor with subtle baby powder-ish notes.

Wish there were more people like that. Fragcom is so tiresome with all TOP 10 rankings composed by people who don't have anything interesting to say. I've had once a longer chat at Knightsbridge, London Nicolai's boutique with a flamboyant Polish SA. He said that some Middle-Eastern royal families are so fond of Nicolai's perfumes that when they visit London they come to the boutique and ask to close the shop for them (that is not particularly hard given its tiny size - more than 4 people inside would need to hug each other) and buy everything that is available on shelves, effectively leaving SAs with no work for the next week till they resupply stock. However, I am not 100% sure if Nicolai will follow Malle's path. He clearly wanted to cash out on it at some point. Nicolai's motivations seem to be tad different - she opened her own perfume house because no one wanted to hire her despite her talent (see the discussion couple threads back) and seems to be in it purely for the artistry. She also has lots of other things going in her life as the director of Osmotheque. But who knows. I, for one, am very happy that I discovered this hidden gem before any acquisition by LVMH or Estee Lauder.

Hello /frag/, this afternoon my thoughts wanted to escape the severe winter we have here and I ended up thinking about long carefree summer days I had been spending in my parents house as a child. It was hidden among old linden trees that were providing us with some shadow to sit underneath on hot days and becoming busy with bees collecting pollen above our heads. I would like to find a fragrance that can transport me there. Something linden blossom forward that is not sweet nor get cloying in hot weather, quite the opposite - I am looking for something airy and refreshing.

We think that clones are tacky but this one perhaps had some reason to exist when it costed $40. Now that it costs about $100 you must be retarded to buy it. I owned it years ago and I know the kinds of mental gymnastics it was taking me to convince myself that it's not inferior to the OG Tuscan Leather and that I was smart for buying a blatant clone (spoiler: it is inferior). For this kind of money my advice is to pay just a tiny bit extra and get for example pic related. It is clearly inspired by Tuscan Leather but done by Nishane in their own way. It's a strict improvement form Tuscan Leather for me; the suede+saffron accord is done better and it doesn't get cloying like TL sometimes can. You will also own a genuine product from a (nice niche) brand that you won't have to be embarassed about. Or just buy a decant of Tuscan Leather. For the price of La Yuqawam you probably can get about 40ml of legit Tom Ford juice from one of these decanters buying 500ml flacons on sales instead of some basement Arab clone. The povos will probably reply to this post with some shit but I can tell you one thing as a person who was into clones for a long time: they never smell the same, they always feel cheap to wear and the entire community praising them operates like a pyramid scheme where instead of making money you try to convince others that the clones are as good/better/smart just for a sake of convincing yourself of that and shutting any doubts.

Sorry to break it to you but Nishane is an opportunistic Arab (Turkish) clone house. They some times tweak this or that but their modus operandi is the same as Rasasi's and other clone companies. Charging exorbitant niche prices doesn't make them a genuine niche house.
Hacivat - Aventus
Fan Your Flames - Palo Santo (Carner Barcelona)
Boszporusz - Sel Marin/Acqua di Sale
this - Tuscan Leather
I could carry on.

I don't know, I've never smelled them. I can tell you once I smell them. But let's be honest, you have neither. You just decided to throw some relatively obscure Nishane releases to save the brand image, ironically, like every clone house fanboy that your buddy >>15886649 is describing. Even if these were genuine creations it wouldn't change anything about my argument - the brand was put on the fragrance map thanks to their clone releases. Have you considered a possibility that there is a reason that their uncreative clones like Hacivat or Fan Your Flames are the most talked Nishane's fragrances for a good reason? Maynbe when they try to release something on their own like presumably this Ege or Unatumam it fells short of being worth talking about?

I ordered a few Francesca Bianchi samples as part of a recent Luckyscent order (still have to get to the Tyger Tyger) and so far I have tried Under my Skin and really liked it. I've heard a lot about The Lover's Tale so I was about to try that next, but after looking at the notes list on Fragrantica it just seems super similar to a bunch of her perfumes, like The Dark Side, The Black Knight, and Under my Skin. She makes good stuff (I especially like Lost in Heaven) but it seems like all of her orris-based perfumes share the exact same DNA, with fairly large variances of course. I haven't seen such similarity between perfumes in any other house.

I'll add that Bogue - Lita is somewhat similar to but worse than T Rex, and Corpse Reviver is not good despite its interesting note combo.

Muscs Koublai Khan is a very dirty musk. It's not exactly an in your face perfume, though. It has a soft feel in general, I actually find it relaxing, like falling asleep with your nose in a girl's armpit or something lol

If you want something that is actually "animalic" (also fits your boozy interest) Amouage - Overture smells like you took a smelly dirty wolf or some other mammal and tried to drown it in whiskey (or cognac, as the official notes say). I don't like the animal note in this one though.

I'm just speaking about how the general public will react to your smell. This should be all about personal enjoyment, but there is a difference between mogging out sauvage and Salome. Don't know about vintage mkk, modern smells positively tame, like a wet nap a girl dabbed her piss up with, or a real expensive old public hotel bathroom that is clean, but has that faint lingering smell where you know what had been done countless times in there. They’re definitely not meme frags. It’s a very high quality house overall. Now, that’s not to say their scents are super wearable, they have some that are (like Camel, Bee, Musk Deer, etc.), but for the most part, they do “artistic” scents. Scents meant to evoke the animal in question and are meant for personal enjoyment rather than crowd pleasers. If you’re looking for something to wear day-to-day, probably not the best house. If you’re an enthusiast and want to try some very unique, high-quality niche scents, they’re very worth trying.

Allegretto is the “coldest” of Gardoni’s scents if that makes any sense. No real warmth or brightness, but lots of smoke, medicinal notes, and camphor. Worth trying if you’re interested in his work, but it’s near the bottom for me. I’d say my power ranking goes:

T Rex > o/e > MEM > Maai > Allegretto > Doleur!

I tried Doleur 2. It smells the same as the original. I didn't compare them side by side because I hate it and didn't care enough to, so I'm sure there are differences, but they're relatively minimal. I can't even fathom how depressing the life of a Basenotes fag with full bottles of both versions of Doleur would be, and I know those people exist from reading the Bogue thread. Everything else I've smelled from Gardoni has been at least decent, though. I love YY and O/E were pretty good but not enough for a bottle. I'm contemplating a bottle of MEM. I like Trex but a full bottle of that would be 3/4 full if/when I'm 90 years old.

I love 30ml's. I already have a ton of perfume and I'd rather have variety over volume.

At some point in the near future I'm going to buy at least 3 Francesca Bianchis (Lost in Heaven, The Black Knight, and Under my Skin). I'll admit that I hated that forced Francesca Bianchi posting while it was going on, and I don't want it to come back, but some of her perfumes are just great.
