A$AP Rocky gingerly touched the sleeve of one of the leather jackets hanging on the rack.

The Rick Owens store was spacious, with long racks full of monochrome clothes. A$AP Rocky carefully pulled the tag out of the neck of the leather jacket and looked at the price. He grimaced.

He took a few steps down the rack and looked at a shirt. Again, he grimaced.

The rest of the A$AP crew was looking at clothes, holding items up to each other and laughing. The sole employee was standing at the cash register, dressed in all black, gazing stoically at them.

A$AP Rocky didn’t know what to do. The clothes were beautifully made and just his style. But he hadn’t anticipated just how expensive they would be. He didn’t feel comfortable spending that much money on a whim. But, he didn’t want his friends to think he was cheap, or unfashionable.

Should he buy a hat? Maybe a pair of socks? Just so he could have the bag to carry out of the store. Or maybe he should say that this stuff isn’t actually his style, and they should go to another store. What if his friends saw right through the act?

He looked at another jacket. It looked very similar to the first. It was more expensive.

His friends’ laughter echoed to the vaulted ceilings of the store. A$AP Rocky felt very alone.

A lot of his stuff from what I've seen is very top heavy, for example, a lot of his longsleeves. If you the items Rick makes that are those longline tees and stuff, I think it's just going to make you look shorter. I'm sure there are still items you can still wear from Rick though, just be selective.

Rick did the goth monk phase and now he's moved on. I feel like most of his collections come from his own life experiences to some extent and when he was living in LA he was part of the grungy warehouse scene that included goths, bikers, and flamboyant bisexuals. Rick just celebrates the outsiders. I think I prefer goth monk Rick for my own style but I respect his recent stuff. I think his work's getting better, even if it's not stuff I'd wear.

Maybe the best thing about Rick is that he's done sooo many different styles really well. There's military Rick and monk Rick and formal Rick and glam Rick. He's one of the best answers to the "if you could only wear one designer..." question.
