Versace Pour Homme is my first and still favourite.

Eau Sauvage is legendary, but not long lasting. Still 10/10 to me though.

AdP Colonia is also legendary, and a benchmark. Colonia Essenza if phenomenal. Not quite as fresh, but still fresh nonetheless.

The Blue line from Acqua Di Parma has many great offerings.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is very good, a great one for work if that’s your thing.

And then it smells like shit. I remember when people online shilled me into Tres Nuit (GIT clone), Al Rehab Silver (SMW clone) and some shit arabian oils. None of these things smelled like originals, fuck they even didn't smell good on their own. Then I just bought a 10ml decant for the price of the clone and it turned out to be 100x better option. There are aromachemicals that cost $1 per tone and there are aromachemicals that cost more than many natural ingredients. That's a fake comparison you're making there. You can also use (synethetic) ingredients in a skilfull way sp that a fragrance smells good throughout all phases and if you're just another Arab pouring random oils in his desert hut you can compose them in a way that smells good only for first 10 minutes and then the scent falls apart. That was my experience with most of the clones. Even if they were somehow remniscent of the original in the opening, it all was gone soon after and you were just smelling of a synthetic 'perfume cloud'.

Testing 20 MARS 2022 Rundholz today. Bought a sample because it was supposed to smell close to the OG Norne and I'm waiting for the new batch to drop, so thought it'll sweeten all the waiting. I always imagined to be a very dark, coniferous scent/ This one is for sure very dark but it's more of a dry, spicy and incensy without anything too foresty about after the opening is gone. I've just read a comparison of it to Maggi seasoning that we use her and I think it's extremely accurate. Can someone tell me if Norne also has this vibe?

>Now, again, all of this applies to ambergris in its natural state, and you can be virtually assured that ambergris in your bottle of perfume won’t smell like “rotting fish oil,” squid, or whale poo. The material is too heavily diluted for anything close to that. If you want to smell the true beauty of ambergris in perfume form, in almost entirely solo fashion and in all its fantastic salty, marshy, quietly smoky, caramel-scented sweetness and sexy muskiness, then the gold standard for the genre is Profumum Roma‘s decadent, opulent Ambra Aurea. It’s hardly the only ambergris perfume that will be on my list, as you will see next time in Part II, but it is the very best and the very richest, so I wanted to mention it here for any of you who may have recoiled after all this whale talk.
Interesting, kafkasque also claims that it is an ambergris not amber fragrance.

Not that I’m doubt their opinions, I just wondered if this is the case in Poland too that the male attitude towards women isn’t exactly “modern”.

>Polish men because they find British men much more respectful towards women. Is there truth to this?
It's a complicated thing. Short answer: the culture is different. Poland is still a quite patriarchal country, especially in towns and smaller cities. Women there are socially expected to be housewives and bear children. That's been changing a lot over last decades though and is not true in big cities that adopted more modern, westernized notions. However, the other side of the coin is that men are chivalrous are also towards women. Almost over the top in extent in comparison to the West. Holding door in public, paying for meals/drinks or giving place to a standing women in public (even grandpas do it if they see a young woman standing) are expected and instilled in guys from childhood by parents. You are also expected to provide for your wife and family and going to be perceived as a failure as a man if you can't make ends meet on your own. This takes its toll on men's mental well-being and suicides rates are high and untalked about at the same time. All of that is almost systematic: there is literally a compulsory reading in primary school centered around a boy who takes an entire blame for what a girl has done and suffering the consequences heroically without saying a word. Women who realize themselves within the patriarchal structure are of high status and being a mother makes you virtually invincible. Old women are of especially high status in the society (that's typical in Slavic countries). If you tried to shout at one at public you'd probably get lynched by men nearby on the spot. All of that depends on the region a lot though; typically more to the East, the more patriarchal the society is but there is more diversity than that. For example miners families in Silesia, the largest mining region in Poland, are traditionally very matriarchal. That's the wife who is the head of family, men's role is just to bring money and do whatever wife tells him.

After all that context summarized, I can answer your question. Women who you are working with are probably emancipated, well-educated and well travelled as they work abroad with you. Their opinions are probably just manifestation of the anger due to the fact they don't fit an expected role in the society in Poland, probably partially positively reinforced by actual dismissive behavior of Polish men they meet.

Thanks, that explains a lot. It’s interesting how the women I work with tend to be quite timid to talk to, in what you might call a typically feminine way, but what we hear from the boyfriends is that they tend to be the ones in charge of the relationship. Maybe it’s as simple as them being infinitely better looking and they know it.

One of them is very short, extremely pretty, polite, intelligent and athletic. Her boyfriend is an overweight, balding, alcoholic gambling addict. It makes no sense.

I smell ashes in the drydown for both Jazz Club and Red Tobacco in the front. It's really not so much the actual tobacco scent that I hate, but the association I have with the scent - if it reminds me of the heavy smokers I know (ie. bums) it's not very enjoyable. Maybe if it's in the background or it's tobacco leaves I'd like it better.

>joop
Too chalky, I have MB Individuel and like it so took the gameble. I see the similarities and if it wasn't SO chalky/powdery I would probably like it, I dabbed some peroxide and took a shower.
>Drakkar Noir
I'm wearing it right now, kind of don't know what to feel. It's pleasant but I don't know if I am head over heels with it. Not sure it's in the "I need a bottle on deck" tier, a bit subdued (and I understand reformulations, but just the general vibe of it). I don't know, definitely not a disappointment but it's not blowing my dick off so far. I'll definitely use it though
>Pino Silvestre Rainforest
Judging from paper, this shit rules, fresh but delivers mentally in at least some way to what I imagine a rainforest smelling like
>Roger & Gallet: Open Black
Judging from paper, really this is just a test if I like tobacco or not, does not smell like it was made in 2013 which is what the hype around it was. Could go either way I gotta get it on skin
>Tommy Bahama Saint Barts
Smells good, no chance of it not from everything I heard, but I'm gonna need to drench myself in it to give real thoughts, very subtle
>Lagerfield Classic
I now understand the old man thing from smelling it, that being said I had to get it. I like the bottle design too much and I love scarface. I wanna hold out slight hope that once it mixes with the skin that I like it enough, every review said not to go off paper with it
>Versace L'lhomme
this isn't new to me, I just copped a second tester bottle of it as back up. Favorite 80s scent outside of fahrenheit, smells so fucking good and criminally underrated. Different batch then my other one so maybe different performance but lasts a long time, very satisfying

Also, based on what I have smelled/liked
would I like kouros? what is it comparable to? Outside of that maybe sung is the only other old powerhouse I might try. Tho I want to see if I can find a bar of irish spring soap to see if I'm into it

Actually, therapy is just a person who went to school to learn listening techniques and problem-solving tools to help people deal with interpersonal relationships during times of stress.
Fragility and occidentalism have nothing to do with it, strangely!

Not sure if you're talking about me, but I posted about my newfound incense obsession a couple threads ago. I'm not familiar with Astier de Villatte, but I'm intrigued by their branding. Would like to know what you think of the sticks you ordered when you get them.
Pic related is my current daily top 3: Minorien Fu-In Sandalwood (pure, austere, contemplative); Shoyeido Moss Garden (autumnal, whispers of a distant campfire); Fred Soll's Resin on a Stick Desert Patchouli (hardcore, primal). I can't recommend Fred Soll's highly enough as far a resin-based sticks go. I'm currently working my way through samples of most of his sticks (between $1.50-$2.00 per stick, but they're extremely strong and burn for up to 2 hours). The Desert Patchouli is my favorite, but the Taos Pine is astonishing, and the Egyptian Musk is sweet and classy

He's right though. Understanding that notes that you're seeing listed are virtually all product of the marketing team is one of the fragrance redpills. I once wrote this note on fragrantica after smelling Sauvage Parfum.
>Official notes are completely misleading and just a marketing hack to make it somehow more sophisticated, deeper and just easier for Sale Assistants at Dior booths to shill normies into buying this new 'intoxicating Oriental'. No 'Sri-Lankan sandalwood grown in a wild plantation that has been a Dior partner for more than 10 years' (kek), no oilbanum. You can tell that it's all synthetic but don't get me wrong it's not really an accusation - 95% of fragrances are synthetic and since it's Dior you can tell that they actually spent some budget on developing it and it's well blended unlike all Nautica Voyages and other shits. But at the end of the day that's the same kind of bergamot-spicy-ambroxan shower gel bomb as Sauvage but more cloying and sweet. You can tell that they basically just wanted to have their Sauvage version of BdC Parfum to take their share of the market and it was created in a Dior's marketing division with a preplanned branding and sales strategy before the perfume was even created. Just wear EdT desu. 3/10

What's the difference between D&G Profumo and Profondo
Jeremy says it's more of a mature business type of scent, is it not good for casual use? I'm 22yo uni student

If you're that interested get a sample. It's unwise to buy a bottle based on how others describe a frag

I have a Profumo sample and I like it, don't know the fragrance meta though, I've only smelled a couple of scents before. Wouldn't know if a frag has connotations like that
Can you explain how Profondo is like compared to Profumo?

>>15877563 I guess I'll just post my little script here. If you need to know anything else just ask.

I know I like fresh, aquatic, and woody scents and I'm looking to by 3-5 bottles to start off my collection.
No super expensive niche scents please my budget is gonna be like $300 max.

I'm a man who's into avant garde fashion (issey miyake, yohji, number (n)ine, etc..) I'm a music producer and also host a radio show/dj set. I want to give off night club, late night, city vibes. Masculine and unisex scents both fine.

What are your recs?

Never heard of that brand, but the sample set in europe only $25, 8 x 3.5ml, not bad at all. At the very bottom: https://www.lesindemodables-parfums.com/en/the-fragrances/

These are all old documents, they say nothing about the observed effect of the lockdowns in New Zealand and China.
