My £20 tacticool fake tritium tube watch arrived. Its actually not bad for how much it cost, the lume is shit (after charging it for a bit with my phone light it's barely visible) but the bracelet has solid links and the bezel has a decent action with minimal play. The crystal seems to have some blue AR too.
50m WR is shit though and it's pretty big at around 45mm too.

No its their stupid detail sheet. I'm supposed to list each part of the watch separately priced (movement, case, band battery) well I told them the site and many other dont list tje price of the movement they usually only list the whole watch and the straps. That was my first hiccup and now the problem is the sheet can only have one watch band listed. Well I ordered two of them and wasn't told by anyone id need to fill out a fucking sheet and pay a tariff when I'm supposed to get free shipping. After my package made it from over seas to the United States I was emailed a detail sheet to fill out. I filled it out based off of what info I had at that time as was told later it cant be accepted because I listed two bands. I was told this by 3 different people from dhl. They do test them up to 6g’s I believe. They are as robust as a watch in that price range can be. They have what I would consider the best shock protection in that price range. The latest movement provides a 50% increase in what was already a great shock protection approach.

The movement also includes silicon/parachrom hairsprings, etc.

Rolex guarantees a -2/+2 accuracy out of the factory and in my experience they can back up that claim. I have a 15 year old Rolex that I wear on a daily basis and it is still my most accurate of my watches despite only being services once during that time.

I can only speak for style rather than movement quality or whatever, but this collection is boring. nothing is outright bad (actually everything is balanced well aesthetically) but either I dislike the style (chronos are too busy to me) or find them mostly unremarkable and samey. so cutting it down is wise.
personally, I like the white dial nomos (club?). the black dial nomos is almost there but I personally dislike those stretched numbers and lugs.
I applaud that your divers don't have dive bezels, which I find distracting. the seiko has a really nice, balanced looking dial. but I like the halios better. the batons, date-at-six, and bracelet look really good. plus, are those batons tritium?
beyond that, I don't have any clear favorites. the komono is interesting at least, although I don't like it especially, and dislike the strap.
not sure this is helpful to you but those are my impressions, anyway.

Casio started producing rainbow IP-coated watch in 2019 with the lunar rainbow MTG. In 2020 they produced the volcanic MTG, the Borneo frog Frogman and 2 GM like this (GM-110RB-2A and GM110B-1A) and they seem to have sold well. So there will probably be more in 2021.
Otherwise there are some beight GST models, and Zelos seems to make good "flashy" watches in the $3-500 range, though in a different vein.

I wouldn't recommend it as an only watch, but having something playful to wear some days (more days than expected in my case) just feels good.

It's just boring. It feels like it's not one watch, but two or three watches combined and it doesn't do anything it's going for well. This is also the one time when they should have gone with a cyclops on a diver, because the tiny date contrasted with the huge cardinal numerals is silly. They could have just glued the cyclops directly onto the dial or on the underside or the crystal or something to keep it flat.

Your options will also vary on whether he's the guy who wants a big macho diver watch that might get banged up and rained on, or if he prefers something classier and is not doing a lot of physical activities.
You could save up a bit more and get him a Citizen Chronomaster (somewhere around $2000 used) or Grand Seiko quartz ($1500-2000) which are seriously impressive, will last him his entire life, straddle the line between sporty and dressy well, and have the no bullshit simplicity of quartz.

Then the term collection, usually is just a bunch of selected proposition value watches memed by reviewers and youtubers, get your credit card, instert the number, wait for the watch to arrive, that's credit card collecting.I think the word collection should follow some personal criteria, for example, you like planes and form a collection around pilot watches,or a mix of stuff you like, not just the memed options ''that every watch collector must have''.

Huh. There's no personal info in the pic so I'm not too bothered.

Every other post on reddit r/watches is
>just picked up my grail
Which is idiotic, the point of the term is that it's supposed to be something you go on a years-long quest for, not something you scoop up because you're some newmoney chinknadian dink

Yes, if you carry a magnifying glass with you all the time.If the movement is good and it has no caseback, you can't see it. At the end of the day what matters is what you can see at a simple glance.

You don't need a magnifying glass to see the difference in finishing between a chink chronograph movement on the one hand and a Lange chronograph movement on the other.

You also don't need a magnifying glass to see the difference between the external finishing on a Rolex/Breitling/Omega and a GS/RO/Overseas on the other.

You can get an NH35 for $35, add 30 for the case and 30 for a good clasp and bracelet. Dual plus hands is another 30, so.... 125 is my number.
