>As implied by the name, the Xeric Invertor has its automatic winding rotor displayed on the top of the watch rather than underneath making for a distinctly unique appearance and an unusual way of displaying the time and allowing you to see the time and automatic rotor in the same glance.
>Having the movement on top also lets the wearer appreciate the intricacies of the mechanical movement, which is derived from a Miyota 9000.
>A new proprietary module was made for the hi-beat Miyota 90S5 - this module makes the watch run backwards so that it could be inverted and tell the correct time.

>Case Material: Hand Finished 316L Stainless Steel
>Crystal (side): Custom dome Hesalite
>Crystal (top): Sapphire
>Dimensions: 46mm x 13mm
>Lume: Super-LumiNova hands and numbers as well as front-facing winding rotor
>Movement: Miyota 90S5 Automatic with custom Invertor module

Goddamn I fucking hate nato straps. How can people like nato straps? The strap on my f-91w broke and I put a nato strap on it. I swear every time I put the watch on my wrist I'm gonna break into a fucking fit, it's so fucking annoying to put it on. Tudor could make a killing if they followed the footsteps of the BB58 with other models. (i.e. Prince Ranger in the style of a 1016 or revamping the dates and datedays). Based on the Tudor royal, it looks like Rolex doesn’t want to lose sales.

For work, I wear a dark grey polo and either khakis with brown leather shoes or black slacks with black leather/sneaker shoes. I am a supervisor for a maintenance department, so sometimes I have to dive into manual labor (but not around moving machinery) to make ends meet. What kind of watch should I wear?

I was thinking pic related with a steel bracelet. I have no danger of getting snagged and degloved, but it should stand up to some beating if need be.

The one im looking at is a Japanese seller with good reputation and has clear photos showing the marks and scatches on the bracelet and body.

Also how much less than retail would you consider buying a used watch? Most GS are in the 15-20% range of a haggled down retail price.

depends on what movement model.
you'll likely be paying 15-20 percent less for a second hand spring drive. If it's a 36'000 it'll likely be pretty pricey and they don't come up for sale very often.
The more standard 9s55/65 movement you can get probably 40 percent off if not more depending on condition.
Case condition would be my no.1 concern. Bracelets are very expensive to buy from Seiko if you decide you want one later and you (no shit) have to give it to them to ship back to Japan to put it on for you so you better make sure theres enough links for your wrist size.

Good luck tho, theres deals to be had.

I'm not big into the Vario hype. I see the appeal of Salmon dial watches although I doubt I'd ware one.

There are some vintage Laco with Salmon dials they seem to pop up around the $400 mark which I think look better. It depends if you're after that more art deco style. the laco is a lot rarer though

I have one of the older Varios and these are my thoughts on this watch. tl;dr if you like it, I think you should get it. It's pretty unique and it's not just a homage, it has its own style.
>The strap it comes with is really nice. I think I read on their site somewhere that it's a "no break-in needed strap" and it's true, it's supple although not too much and it's even got that nice expensive leather smell, all the stitching is even. There is a branded buckle, the strap tapers heavily which is a nice luxury touch, and it's a good thickness, not too thin but not too thick. They started as a strap company and it's a great strap.
>I mostly wear divers so maybe I have just lost perspective but even though it's 11mm thick it feels slightly thicker than that.
>The watch is very readable because the polished hands catch light at any angle but dead on and it looks great. And then when you're looking right at it it's obviously good.
>The watch is actually balanced enough to wear daily. It has these nice vertically brushed sides that tone it down. Also it has drilled lugs which is very nice at the microshitter price point.
>The handwound Miyota movement they use is discontinued IIRC and if it's a display caseback it's rather pretty. They usually gild it but not always due to availability. I don't know if this will affect servicing. The closed caseback auto versions are nicely done but I hear people complain the etching is not as deep as it could be.
>The case is really cool, every part of the watch leans hard into the art deco theme. The case has angular art deco elements and feels like it's made of sections, especially the lugs. The hour hand is supposed to look like the Empire State Building as well.
>They ship using DHL which is very fast if you live in a major city, DHL picked up the package next business day and I had it 4 days after ordering.
I'm considering getting another one but I've spent a lot more money this year than I wanted to.
