ok, uh.. so..
i took the nudging of a fellow anon and finally pulled the trigger on a VCM

When I 1st saw this watch half a year ago with its plum blossum textured dial I was very intrigued... knew I had to have it

even finding this unicorn has been a huge pain. In my search I only saw 2 other specimens on WUS, and those were posts from years ago. I had to download an app to search on xianyu and another app to even talk to the seller. Im close to positive this is the only one available online.

The seller didn't want to ship out of china, eventually I resorted to using a taobao agent. That agent even asked me if Im sure, as they cannot guarantee vintage items. Due to communication difficulties I dont even know if the watch runs or how the movement looks like (I know......but this kind of gambling is apparently normal for VCM purchases)

the agent just shipped it and assured me its extra well packed. I wanted to ship by air but due to current situation they didnt have it. And now im waiting.... I think it will need a service regardless, but im okay with that.

What are the comfiest luxury watches? I absolutely love this shitter, it's really slim and just fits and feels like a bracelet. You almost can't feel the watch case because it's so balanced. I think it's because of the angled lugs and slim case, I think 8mm or something.

thats a frankenwatch
and its russian, not chinese.
the original that such 'friendship' watches was based on is the Vostok 'Druzhba' , pic rated. This was back in the 50s when Soviet Russia and China CCP were on friendly terms (hence the name of the watch which means friendship in russian, the place depicted is the Forbidden Palace)

that watch >>15787806
has a salvaged soviet movement, with printed dial (like a home printer, thats why the quality looks so bad) and new hands.

many such frankenwatches exist on etsy and its usually a easy tell because the hands are too new and dials too flat and fake. Normies often buy them and spend way too much per watch.

Otherwise get a citizen, shop around on amazon, jomashop, the citizen website, they look up the model number on ebay and maybe google shopping and see if you can find it cheaper. I find it pretty legible in most lighting situations and at most angles, but you're right occasionally I do end up having to hit the backlight. Having that backlight is a major benefit though in my eyes. I get that needing your other hand to check the time sometimes is lame, but you can read it in even zero light and without counting on your lube being charged.

I will say I don't think it's the perfect G-Shock, but my favorite under $100. Maybe competition with the Casioak.

Although VC is the oldest continuously running of the trinity, it's also the underdog in terms of production numbers.
So they're rarer and more exclusive. Especially when you look at the RoyalOak/Nautilus/Overseas trio.

They're also the most fun and exciting of the three when it comes to their releases.
Like that Américain in your pic.

I found it funny how her personality seems to switch to a bit more "robust" when she speaks natively german. Also that lighting doesnt do her any good.

>It's also deceptively clever in what it chooses to show and when it shows it. Because, if you haven't already noticed, those hours on the dial aren't all facing the right way up. Only one does, and only for 60 minutes at a time. As in the other 'Upside Down' watches, the numerals are each set on their own, independently mobile disc with a simple dot to indicate the hour. When the minute hand precisely reaches the fifty-ninth second of the fifty-ninth minute of the hour, the past hour number instantaneously turns 180 degrees upside down.
