15779782 No.15779782 [Reply] [Original]

I've just bought my first pair of colored, gelatinous contact lenses, dark-bluish tone called "Grafite" in the reference image.

What am I in for?
Any tips and tricks now that I'm joining the blue-eyed master race?

My natural color is somewhere on dark-medium brown spectrum.

Please remove this thread. You're embarrassing yourself.
I'm not even trying to bash you either, I'm actually giving you some good advice here.

>> No.15779806

I think I've gathered some information from what you've said already.

You believe it's a personal embarrassment, and I agree. I will probably face some mockery from friends and family.

What I'm thinking is how much of a difference it might make on people that do not know me. Beauty bias is real, and during a pandemic, having the bottom half of your face covered leaves you with a small gap to get someone's attention. I'm proposing that people will treat me better and think higher of me if they notice I (might) have blue eyes.

Hell, I actually even if they KNOW that those are lenses, they will treat me better and possibly find me more attractive.

>> No.15779807

Those things make your eyes look weird because the colour of your irises isnt laying on top of your eyeball, it's further inside leaving a water layer type thing that you can see through from side on. Those lenses are creepy. Its the colour of your eyes dude you need to get over it

>>actually think that* even if they KNOW that those are lenses, they will treat me better and possibly find me more attractive.

I'm basing this on the thesis that suggest that people find others atractive even when they KNOW that they went through aesthetic surgeries and instagram filters.

OP Here.
Yes, they will.

It's also weird to tattoo eyebrows or dye your hair.
We've normalized a lot of things that once were weird. It's a Body-mod, not much different from piercings or different hair color than the one you were born with.

Literally, what's the difference between changing the color of your hair to changing the color of your iris?

One is socially acceptable, the other makes you look like an extremely insecure cringe lord.

If I'm secure enough to do something that isn't socially acceptable, why would I be insecure?

they especially look wrong from the side profile, the way they sit on top of the eye isn't natural looking.

I'm legit interested in what the collective opinion of a board dedicated to fetishizing looks thinks about how somebody else tunes his/her own looks outside of what is considered mainstream to do.

To be fair, that's often what fashion is, right?
A bunch of people realizing they can do something else than what they're accustomed to by copying the concept of someone who ventured into doing something different, and doing that until it becomes a normal thing that everyone's accustomed to again.

My dear, I'm not in favor of the beauty bias neither - but it is real. It is a thing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_effect#Role_of_attractiveness

It's natural and even subconscious, and I agree that it is discriminative. However, that also means we can use it in our favor.
