Which movements eith hand einding can easily be swapped into vintage seiko 5s? I absolutely hate the lack of hand winding in seiko 5s.

In theory, an NH35/36 can replace the old 70XX movements, but it's probably not a 100% fit.
I have a 5 with a 6319 and briefly researched the same idea, but the only hand winding 61/63 series movement is... a 36 000 bph Grand Seiko 6146 or better, lol. Best improvement you could realistically do is with a hacking 6106 or 6306.

>> No.15776909

If this guy is actually telling the truth in his listing, he's retarded. If he's lying, he thinks buyers are retarded enough to fall for that shit.

If the only issue was a broken stem all you would have to do is find a local watchmaker who could order the replacement part and swap the movements back to the correct cases, and then the resale value of both watches would be much better off and 12 paragraphs of explanations wouldn't be necessary. He's a retard for not getting the issues fixed before selling.

On the other hand, all of this could very well be made up to cover a broken movement because he fucked something up while doing the movement swap.

>> No.15776925

>>15776902
>is a broken stem a common thing?
No, it's a sturdy little bit of metal.
You really have to be doing some weird shit to break it.
And if you want to break it while it's screwed in you pretty much need to run a train over the watch.

I have a Seiko that got run over by dozens of cars, and neither crown is even slightly bent out of shape.

New Explorer is the highest quality but kinda boring. Santos would be effay but probably not really worth it and classic Datejust would be effay as well but also a watch I could sell without any loss, even when I scratch it. But it's also the worst quality of the bunch.

thats a rather narrow venn diagram and the ideas are kinda at odds from each other (pic kinda related)
i suppose it all depends on what you and your personality can accept for an "everyday watch" and what constitutes a "fun piece" for you
maybe get a serious everyday classic watch (maybe a sportier one since you already have a nomos?) and also a cheap <$500 fun watch. Then you can get the most outrageous meme microshitters and not worry about wasting your money if you tire of it.

the first tech I bought was secondhand and had a tobacco stain on it darker than the ceiling above my grandpa's easy chair. the aluminum surface was yellow with large brown areas. I have no idea how that much smoke stuck to it. it was like it had been kept in a safe without ventilation except a tube someone blew a pack a day into for a decade.
but it ran perfectly and runs to this day. a little cleanser, a little elbow grease, the aluminum came clean. Tech 12s are fucking bomb proof.

I have the DW-5600BB. My thinking, matte black, but more importantly, 'PROTECTION' & 'G-SHOCK' aren't written in another colour. A cult classic to have in the beater collection. My girlfriend's first reaction when she sees it, "that's so ugly, take it off." Um, let me tell you something, Keanu Reeves wore this in Speed, it's a cult classic. Hmmm. Nothing is ever going to change a first reaction I think. Sometimes it should matter what a woman thinks. If you want avoid sabotaging yourself stay away from g-shocks. They're ugly enough to a normal man as it is.

https://youtu.be/Dk0roE34zLw

Think of Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. Now redo the whole scene, but instead of throwing the New Balance sneakers over the bridge, he also throws his G-Shock over the bridge.

Bite the bullet, give your g-shocks away to your nephews and get something that's not ugly.

https://youtu.be/koJ8TlCfViQ
The breitling is also pretty cool, it has its own in house caliber chronograph and claims 50atm of water resistance.
I don't really like the crown on the breitling. The MR G seriously has incredible finishing quality.
I would suggest watching a teardown of the mr G and finding a youtube video where someone goes through all the functions and explains how to use them. The deal breakers with g-shocks can be a weird menu system or you don't like how the crown works, that sort of thing, so you should be aware of the functionality and make sure it seems useable to you. You should ignore the Bluetooth app and make sure everything works without it.
