Ormonde Man I think
>the fragrance you've worn the most in warm weather
Probably Azemour Les Orangers - my bottle is almost empty
>biggest discovery of the year
Francesca Bianchi fragrances
>biggest disappointed of the year
The new oriental Ormonde Jayne line - idk why did they break with the typical OJ DNA. Also it's funny how unremarkable most of these are given that the brand was put on the fragrance map by their oriental fragrances.
>the best&worst designer fragrance you put your nose on in 2020
best: Prada L'Homme - I haven't tried it before but I was really impressed with it, worst: Diesel Bad - as it's name says; it's bad
>the best&worst niche fragrance you put your nose on in 2020
best: I'm still really impressed with the 2020 ELDO release Exit The King - it's a brilliant take on the chypre structure in a very ELDOish way, worst: Gallagher Rosé All Daé - no rose here, just sickengly sweet apple crisp smell that stays for weeks on surfaces

>> No.15766454

Tried two new Bianchis (so far I've tried Under My Skin, The Lover's Tale, The Black Knight, Etrscan Water and love/like all of them).
>The Dark Side
Incensy spices. Spices remind me of Arquiste Nanban. Iris makes it elegant and reserved not yet another inviting, a comfy spicy-oriental overall.
>Lost in Heaven
Fucking wow. It smells like a classic Guerlain reinterpreted for modern times. The opening is ambery castoreum (that doesn't reek at all but is rather just pleasantly animalic) with some many-faceted floral orchestra and sweetness coming from beeswax. This screams class and sophistication. Feminine leaning and oldschoolish. It gets stinkier in the middle but drydown is the pleasant powdery Bianchi DNA with some sweetness to it.
Solid releases but they don't come close to Etruscan Water/The Black Knight. I'm not surprised though, I know notes I like quite well already and there was a reason I haven't ordered these two in my first Bianchi sample haul. I can get a 1ml sample of Tyger Tyger for 5EUR and strongly consider it.

If you're looking for rum+chocolate then you probably want something like Black Phantom By Kilian but if I were you I would get Insomnia Faviol Seferi which is a heavily inspired fragrance by Black Phantom but has rum and chocolate notes tweaked up. It's very gourmandy, you got a lot of caramel, vanilla in it too, but thankfully it's balanced with some darker woody notes that work well with booziness of rum, so it doesn't smell like diabetes. You can also get Insomnia 3-4x times cheaper than Black Phantom.
If you're looking for these ingredients independently though then these are my favorites.
Rum:
>1740 Marquis de Sade Histoires de Parfums
smoky rum, leather, bitter immortelle but this austere side is balanced with some lighter sweet undertones, it has an overall oriental-fougere feel to it
>Straight to Heaven By Kilian
lots of earthy woody notes with noticeable rum to it
Chocolate:
>Vetiver Oriental Serge Lutens
a rich oriental chypre with a very prominent vetiver and dark chocolate notes
>Pardon Nasomatto
oudy dark chocolate served with some warm spices

Wouldn't be surprised to one day hear that they were somehow farming ambergris by leaving squid out in the sea and then waiting for them to shit it out. Zero chance Roja, Creed, Xerjoff, etc. use real ambergris. Basically they're just lying, and the perfume industry is one of the few where apparently you can just totally make shit up without getting in trouble. Smaller houses like Papillon, House of Matriarch, and of course Bortnikoff, Areej le Dore, and Ensar Oud do use real ambergris. I would strongly suggest to anyone curious about ultra-niche perfume like Ensar Oud to forget about it. They don't know how to make perfume. Bortnikoff has a couple good ones though, I own Musk Cologne and Musk Khabib and they're pretty great but are still not exactly cohesive, personality-having perfumes

>> No.15767312

>apparently you can just totally make shit up without getting in trouble
pretty much this. The amount of blatant fuckery in the perfume business is staggering. I guess it's just a niche enough industry that nobody cares. Everything about the house of Creed is so fraudulent it's insane. They make some good smelling fragrances, but everything they say about their history is pulled directly from their ass

>> No.15767313

Wonder how easy it is to just make fake ambergris if it's just a ball of wax and smells like ambroxide lol. Chop some squid into it, float it in brine and sell it on for a couple bags.

>> No.15767335

>>15767313
The thing is you can't really "farm" ambergris because the kind that is useable is semi-fossilized and has been floating in the water for decades. If it's fresh it's unusable, so banning it for fear of people targeting the whales and using them for extraction purposes doesn't really make sense. But it's easy to replicate in other ways. Ambroxan for instance is made using clary sage. And it's not like even seasoned collectors are going to be able to spot the difference. If a company says the use ambergris, 99.9% of people won't question it. Higher end companies also like to imply they use nothing but natural ingredients but that's a blatant lie. 9 times out of 10 a combination of synthetics and natural oils is going to be better than a fragrance using 100% natural oils anyway. If you can isolate an aroma molecule and make it more stable and better performing than its natural counterpart then you'd be foolish not to and perfumers know this

>> No.15767343

>>15767313
Ambergris has zero to do with squid other than how it's produced in whales because of the irritation of squid beaks in their digestive tract. Also the much hated "synthetic" Ambroxan is the main player in the smell of real deal ambergris. So you have niche snobs simultaneously decrying modern "bro" perfume for using nasty synthetic ambroxan (their words, most niche snobs are left wing feminist losers) while praising certain perfume houses for using real ambergris, even though like I said the smell of ambergris is mostly made by the Ambroxan.

>> No.15767362

>>15767292
Ambergris doesn’t come from squids. It comes from sperm whales. Basically, sperm whales eat squids, but they can’t digest the beaks so sometimes the beaks get caught in their gut, the whales create a lump of this waxy stuff around the beaks to make them easier to pass, sort of like how an oyster forms a pearl around a grain of sand.

The thing is, it’s fairly rare for sperm whales to do this, probably only 1 in 10 ever produces ambergris in their lifetime, so you can’t really hunt them for it. Also, ambergris is essentially worthless unless it’s aged, and artificially aged ambergris isn’t as good or worth anywhere near as much as naturally aged stuff (and when I say aged, I mean it’s been floating around for years or even decades). So yeah, there’s no real good way to farm or hunt for the stuff. You can realistically only really find it washed up on beaches, which doesn’t happen super often.

>> No.15767376

Correct. Fragrance snobs are retarded and largely have no idea how perfumery and the construction of fragrance actually works. People will complain about "synthetic" fragrances while praising "natural" fragrances when the reality is that what they're smelling isn't the difference between natural and synthetic so much as it is the difference between a good fragrance and a bad fragrance. No perfumers use 100% natural ingredients, to do so would be retarded and impractical. But it is possible to make a shitty fragrance that smells nothing like anything found in nature using natural oils and it is possible to make a wonderful "natural" smelling fragrance using nothing but synthetics. The vast majority of the time a fragrance will sink or swim on the basis of its construction, not on the basis of its ingredients

and how many fragrances were there 100 years ago? There is some truth to what you (not that is something original) say, but 90% of fragrances really suit the gender the companies are pushing it to. Sure, La vie e belle would make a killer mens fragrance if it were a bit tweaked, or a watered down Sauvage with less pepper, lavender and more sweets would make a good womens perfume. Any idea what scent you’re gonna wear?

She’s extremely experienced so I think it should be fun. She knows I’ve never had sex and she says she’s excited to show me the ropes.

I’m thinking of either Tuscan Leather or Tobacco Oud. Maybe something a little more smooth like Noir Extreme. I do own fragrances by other companies...

>> No.15771158

Sounds like a good one, then. The best ladies in my experience are the ones who seem legitimately excited to help you cross things off your bucket list or create a fantasy for you. One of my current regular ladies has an onlyfans and we chat and come up with ideas for things to try next time I see her, and she almost gets more into it than I do! Always going the extra mile to put together outfits for me, comes up with little suggestions, it’s great. The last thing you want is one of these dead fish who are only in it for the money and want to do the absolute bare minimum possible.

I might be a bit careful with stuff like TL or TO. Some ladies like them a lot, but others find them very harsh. I love challenging scents, people here know my collection is full of them, but I usually stick to more “sexy” scents for my dates. Musc Ravageur, Tuxedo, Enigma, and Chypre Palatin have been my go-tos, recently.

That sounds great. I don’t have the money to do it often so it’s unlikely I’ll do it again, but you never know. How much do you typically pay? I know you’re in a different country but what I’m paying seems less than I expected, but far from cheap.

I know they’re bold scents, but I’m thinking a single spray of TL on the chest might be OK. I did consider finishing my sample of Musc Ravageur. I’d buy a bottle but my budget is now gone for that.

>>15771170
That’s a bit lewd. I didn’t agree to that. I know a guy that hired a prostitute to shave his back before he went on a date. She complained about her not getting picked up for an hour so he gave her a pile of ironing and put the TV on, then left for his date. He lives with his mum which makes the whole thing more weird.

Anon here who said he was going to start perfuming. So far so good. I'm thinking about exclusively making sleazecore stuff because it's the most interesting. Here's the note breakdown for my newest sleazy fougere:
Base-
Oakmoss
Musks
Tonka Bean
Vanilla
Benzoin

Heart-
Rosemary

Top-
Italian lemon
Lavender
Bergamot
Aldehydes

It's so nice that I'm afraid to skunk it up with Alpha Pinene for full sleazemode. Might have to make a second formula with pinene and suederol.

The ladies I see are typically 350/hr, but the main agency I use has this weird break point in their pricing where if you book 5 hours, you’re basically getting one for free. So my typical session is 1400.00 CAD. The lady I mentioned works for this agency. I know that’s definitely outside most people’s budget, but they really do have the best ladies in the city by far and I always have a great time with them. Plus the owner and the bookers all know me and give me a lot of extra little perks (like getting to try out new hires at a reduced price).

I also had an indy lady I used to see who’d give me 4 hours for 900.00, and she was a super cool chick who gave absolutely absurd blowjobs (and swallowed!), but she retired a few months back. I miss her.

Yeah, one spray of TL might be ok. I do think you’re probably better off with MR, though. In my opinion, MR is one of the best niche sex fragrances ever made. It just smells like sex to me.

Let us know how your date goes. I’d be interested to hear your experiences.

I want to start using fragrance. I've checked the flowchart top 10 and tested it in a local store but I dislike most of them. In my opinion they all have an agressive scent, but I'd like to get something more subtle. I liked the Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male, but it was a little bit too sweet.
So I'm looking for something more subtile I guess, should I look for cologne's instead of parfumes and Eau de Toilette's?

I don’t really know how it works but she offered to stay the night for more money but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. But it’s not that much more, so maybe I will.

I’m wearing TL now and yeah, it’s probably too much. It might be better well in to the drydown, but the first three hours are quite potent. It’s funny how people talk about fragrances I enjoy smelling like sex, I have no idea what it smells like so I can’t really relate to that.

Can anyone tell me when to use eau de cologne, toilette or parfum? Is there a quality difference? I've heard that eau de toilette is more alcohol based, so the scent is less pure and more biting.

I'm curious about a few bottles:

Hermes' Terre d'Hermes: I've tried this in a store but I disliked it. I've heard the scent is too harsh in the initial phase. Does anyone know what it smells like after an hour. Is it way better?

Uomo's Casual Life: I've seen this in the german coke addict's video. He said the scent was like tiramisu. Is gourmand a good option for fragrances? If there is anyone with experience, please let me know your thoughts on it.

Chanel Allure Homme Sport: Someone suggested this to me and I saw that it scored high in a blind testing video of that same german coke addict. I was wondering how this fragrance competes in general. For example, how does it compete with fragrances like Chanel's Blue de Chanel?

Jean Paul Gaultier's Ultra Male: I like this scent and the price is nice, but it's quite sweet. Do women think you're feminine ergo less of an option while using this?

Dior's Fahrentheit: I've heard good things about this one, but I can't imagine that women would really love a intense scent of gasoline. Does anyone know if and why it's working?

all the ones you write about are popular fragrances that you can find in a store that sells fragrances, you should go and smell them. Also, the initial spray is always quite harsh and alcoholic, wave your hand around in the air a bit and then smell. Also yes, things smell different after an hour and more.

generally, each one is more than just a different concentration, its typically a similar composition, but not the same. In ye olden times, you woke up and started off with a light cologne that doesnt last long, then mid day or when you go out, you use an edt, and in the evenings you use the edp. They were all designed to compliment each other and create something wonderful where the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Colognes are supposed to be light and ephemeral, edt's are great at projecting, and edps may(or may not) have the depth or complexity you might be looking for. Its all personal preference to the scent profile, maybe you dont want to use an edp and smell like the same thing all day and night, or it might not work as well in certain weather, so the edt might be for you.
>tdh im not a big fan of waiting around for a scent to become likeable. Yes, I understand the first blast can be wildly different than to what it becomes, but Im not going to wait around for an hour or more through a difficult phase to get to the good part. The whole thing should please me immensely.
>womo It might smell great, but I dont like wearing sweet stuff, at all. I can recognize a good scent without having to want to wear it personally though, thats not where I'm going with that thought, this is me and not you. You do you. Gourmand: one who is *excessively* fond of eating and drinking. You might be able to infer where Im going with this.
>AHSE: its lemon curd vs a blue nose stabby thing. Totally different, smell them, and youll see.
>JPG: Your concerns are not mine. Just be yourself

These are all good but kinda borderline warm weather scent. SL Five O'Clock is a full-blown Christmas scent so not sure if that's what he's looking for.

>This would be in my top 5 if the coffee lasted.
What are your other 4 top coffee scent. This fucking note drives me crazy, I have yet to try a realistic coffee note. All scent I tried were this weird mixes of sweet notes, tonka, hay and some coffee vibe. Nothing smelling like freshly ground coffee.

Any recs if I like the aggressive spicy kinda dirty vanilla opening of Musc Ravageur more than the drydown? I read some writeups on
>Labdanum 18
>Helmut Lang EDP
>Meharees
and they seem like they're for fags who like the powdery phase of MR, and I'm not too big on that

Received some money from my grandparents to buy my own present this year, decided just the other day to try and become familiar with fragrances. This is what I have ordered from LuckyScent, it's just their masculine sample colllection (UniSex was sold out and Feminine didn't have scents that interested me) as well as 4 extras that intrigued me. Advice on how to wear and test these? Judgements on my initial tastes?
