In essence, you should (IMO) nou buy above your tier or class. If you're working class, dress in rags, don't borrow money to buy a BMW... The same with watches, a Rolex won't suit a person working in, okay I was gonna say "in the industries" but that's obviously a lie since shift workers generally are millionaires. Okay, a regular 7-16 job. Buy a Seiko, don't try to be something you're not. You'll have to sell it eventually anyway.

The newer bluetooth zog botnet negative display casios are easy to read. Especially the STN display metal case models. Too bad about the built-in tracking technology.

There's no simple answer to this; usually it takes time and 'climbing the ladder' of your career path.

I had to start working late due to lots of degrees, and even though I have expertise in my field, I still have more ways to go to increase my income. If however your work does not have opportunities to climb the ladder, then you have to invest in passive income streams and invest later on in things like real estate. Watches can wait.

A 'fuck off' wrist watch for me used to be in the 25000 range...but now that I have my Speedies, the desire has disappeared. Maybe you should just try on as many watches as you can, find one that you really desire (and I mean dream about for years), and then aim to save up and get it.

Both of these were bought off of e-bay, btw, for a fraction of the retail price. No box, no papers, but a reputable shop (so I know they're genuine). I had the Mark 40 serviced with Omega, and the 3570.50 will be serviced probably in a year or two from now.

Well, in some ways we are the same and in other ways not. I don't see watches as a reward or a reminder of a success in life. They're not a 'prize' to me, they're a tool first and foremost which I have had to rely upon before and hope to rely on in the future.

That being said, I want that tool to have aesthetic beauty (in my eyes), functional practicality (comfortable, accurate over the days to the second, etc.), and I need it to be fully mechanical and not quartz regulated or battery operated.

I simply like Omegas because I like their design lines in the traditional realms (Speedmaster, older Seamasters, and even odd things like the Hour Vision DeVilles from the 2008 era). What I've found though after owning quite a number of watches is that the older I get, the closer I get to owning just 1 watch.

Maybe you just have to look for that '1 watch', regardless of price or style, and then try it on and see if it sings to you. Then if it does, start saving up, and when you have enough, pull the trigger. The secondary market is awesome if you do your research and 'buy the seller'. Depending on the brand, you have more options than you think. For instance, Omegas are for the most part really good on the secondary market in terms of getting a good deal for the quality. Rolexes on the other hand don't devalue as heavily, so while the resale is good for you if you change your mind, you won't really get 'a deal' and you'll likely just have to pay the going rates.

Stowas are good; why not go for a traditional flieger from them? I've thought about it myself...but I never pulled the trigger because I already have/had a watch that was time only automatic.

Anyway, focus on life, and the watch will come.

That's a real good collection fren. I kind of know this deep down, it is really unfortunate that I am really highly skilled in a super niche industry, like almost pigeonholed. The barrier to entry for starting up a business in it is almost insurmountable. Been looking in other industries for a new job, but covid fucked me over. I honestly just want to be a coal miner and do some over time to get decent cash, but it seems like God doesn't want me to be one, guess it's a good thing though, probably end up an alcoholic and divorced like my uncle's

>This version of the Venture is a limited edition collaboration with the Windup Watch Shop. The standard field watch dial has been replaced with one inspired by both exploration watches and our hometown of Brooklyn, NY. A balanced dial with large numerals at cardinal positions is rendered in asphalt and concrete gray with shocks of taxi yellow. A date window has been added at the four o'clock position, with a date disk that is color-matched to the surrounding dial.
>The BOLDR Venture is an impressive take on the modern adventure watch. Featuring a 38mm matte titanium case, with an AR-coated sapphire crystal, and 200m of water resistance, it's small, lightweight, and tough - exactly what you want on your wrist during an excursion. Inside, a reliable Seiko NH35 keeps time, making this a fantastic and remarkably affordable package at $299.

>Ever since the launch of the collection more than half a century ago, the Seiko Astron has long been affiliated with jetsetters and the skies. With the advent of GPS technology integrated into something as compact as a wristwatch, the lineup pushed its boundaries even further, moving into space. Now, to pay tribute to these monumental achievements, Japan’s biggest watchmaker is releasing two new models that take you to the stars.

>With two color options to choose from — the SBXC077 and the SBXC079 — both variations come equipped with a new dial design resembling a starlit sky. The former takes on a deep blue night sky-inspired look, while the latter offers a deep green option paired with a blacked-out dial. Both models feature ceramic bezels as well as all the goodness Astrons are now known for, including GPS technology that can automatically sync your time zone to your current location, a dual-time function, support for Daylight Savings Time, and battery life that can last you up to six months.

>For those interested, the two new Seiko Astron watches will be available for $2,200 USD.
