Well, unless you're actually diving with the watch—at very great depths—you will never need to use the valve. So I have never had to use the valve. Functionally/mechanically it is a very simple valve; if it screws and unscrews properly then it should work under actual conditions. Mine is just fine in that regard.

I haven't heard the same about the valves being nonfunctional - source?

Hello, random tourist here. I'm interested in buying either the Casio G-Steel GST-W100 series or the GST-W300 series of watches. My problem is, it's hard to tell how large these watches are, and how they look on my 7.5 inches/190.5 mm wrist. I fancy the W100 series (pic related) and it's the largest out of the two watches, and if it's too big, I'll go with the smaller W300 series. But, yeah, can anyone show me what the watch(es) would look like on a big wrist?

Omega's bracelets are good if you compare them with Longines or Tag, but their direct competitors - Rolex, IWC, Cartier, Zenith provide better offering in that regard. Omega is also notorious for the "holes", i.e. visible excessive space between the case and the bracelet which spoils the overall impression.
As for the reviews, a lot of them are biased and superficial - still, most of the "vs. Rolex" put movements, finishing, overall design on the same level, but when it comes to bracelets reviewers always give the nod to Rolex.

I'm talking about design.
I think that what rolex did, developing a generic classic bracelet or buying the companies that made them, I think that they bought gay freres, is extremely smart.
Just develop one bracelet that can be used in pretty much the entire line up.
By doing that is going to be much easier in terms of production, helps them to upgrade year by year that design and also helps them making their watches much more recognizable, for example you instantly associate jubilee or presidential bracelet with a rolex watch.
I find insane other companies not doing the same thing, in the same way that they introduce a new movement or a new watch, every watch company should introduce a bracelet that can be bought with any of their watches.

Nice pair. Honestly, I prefer almost everything from a design perspective about the old model. I don't like the wave pattern—I think the flat dial looks much "deeper"—and I prefer the smaller elements on the older one (the hands, the bezel numbering, the hour indicies, the helium escape valve). I also like the the first fifteen minutes are much more clearly graduated on the bezel, that there is no number "10", and that the triangle at the 0 mark is filled (matching the minute hand) instead of "skeletonized".

That said I prefer the new design to almost every other watch on the market regardless of price. I just like the old one a teensy bit more.

Speaking of Monsters, this is a very rare one in that family. This was released around the same time of the 1st gen, but was only a limited release. It carries the same handset, and shares the angular indices found in all Monsters. It was also very unpopular, most likely due to the integrated bracelet and protruding bezel markers. For a budget Seiko watch, though, it has some of the best finishing on the dial, case, and bracelet in its weight class. This ones rare as hens teeth, but it’s not worth much for resale so it’s a keeper. This is the ugly red headed stepchild of an already ugly family of Monsters

There was a wave of “organic” looking watch designs in the late 90s and early 2000s, which was when the watch came out. The Japanese really pushed that trend, especially with Citizen’s eco drive watches. Seiko made a lot of these streamlined designs, but were almost always for their quartz watches. It’s rare to see a design like this for a mechanical diver.

But yeah, it’s ugly as shit, but I always wear it when I’m in a suit. It’s the most comfortable watch I’ve worn, bar none. The milling of the case, bracelet links, and curvature of the caseback make it top level comfy. Yes, I’m autistic

Why don't watch manufacturers put a power reserve indicator on the back of the watch case? It's only while the watch is off your wrist that you would be interested in what the power level is. While you are wearing the watch it's a useless complication for automatics. The dial looks cleaner without it, and it could look cool to have it on a display back case.

>Gorilla was founded in 2016 by Octavio Garcia, who was creative director at Audemars Piguet from 2003 to 2015 before starting the company,
>While Garcia's work at AP often stretched into six-figure territory, Gorilla was founded with another intention, which was to produce visually distinctive and texturally rich timepieces, using materials generally associated with higher prices, on more affordably priced watches. Along with his partner Lukas Gopp, an industrial designer with work at IWC, Ralph Lauren Watches & Jewelry Co., and Audemars Piguet to his credit, Garcia began producing watches often priced right around the €1,000 mark but with ceramic bezels, forged carbon cases with anodized aluminum accents, and multi-layered dials, all powered by reliable Miyota movements.

I have an older model circa 2008, titanium with tobacco dial. Dial finish is above par for price range, movement finishing is fine. Done with a machine, nothing mind blowing - simple 2 hand movement with sub seconds. Panerai market is volatile. I got mine for really cheap but have no idea if they’re more or less expensive now. The designer didn't do much; he changed the angle of the top polished case flank surfaces so you see more of them from head-on, and I guess he designed the bracelet.
The watch is absolutely amazing though; with literal GS external finishing.
I mean just look at the detail in pic.

The spring drive is also the best "luxury" sports watch movement.

Amazing watch all in all. Even the X is not quite as grating as on most other watches (although it's still absolutely atrocious).

It isn't, but since it's a 24h hand you get 2 rotations of the main 12h hand.

My local time is 00:35 GMT+2. If I want to follow Tokyo Time, GMT+9, I'd rotate the 12H hand 14 times which would display 07 in the morning. Sorry if I've been unclear with my previous posts.

Also, why did you leave out the part where I wrote "heavy", when I addressed the question of, what you refer to as "no design exist in a vacuum"? It's another thing to draw inspiration than to just take whatever someone has designed and not come up with new aesthetical ideas but to just alter the design just a bit so that one can call the design 'original'.

I can guarantee you there is a sizeable portion of watchmakers who want to die at AP since the RO is their only seller. Anything new they try turns out to be a massive disaster (Code 11:59 anyone?). I don’t blame them for sticking with what they know but I do pity them. I guess the Royal Oak Offshore did ok for them financially but I think many people would agree it was a big misstep for the brand.

Just stuck it under a loupe. Everything on the face seems printed well, the seconds dial indices are properly hit by the arrow. I'm not confident about the chrono dial and the chrono arrow though.
