I'm slowly going through my Jacques Fath Essential Line samples and just stumbled upon something that all you fig lovers (and I know there are quite a few here) might find interesting. Vers Le Sud is a lovely aquatic fig fragrance with a big dose of ambroxan. It wears like a non-obnoxious crowdpleaser like Sauvage but unlike Dior it's really snicely balanced out. The aquatic feel of it is built around some pleasant green notes and saltiness so it doesn't smell neither trivial nor like a hardcore sea-like scents like Acqua di Sale or Fathom V. Really safe, fun but classy scent. I'd highly recommend it to everyone who loves fig or just wants some easy to wear but non-routine nor overplayed warm weather scent. Overall, I've tried 10 out of 12 scents out of this line and every time something was standing out, it was one of the initial 4 scents created by Cécile Zarokian. This women is talented.

The new Amouage release "Zwischenspiel für Klarinette" tries to capture the essence of 19th century German art, music, and philosophy while championing the idea behind "Interlude".
This captivating fragrance takes the young Goethe's taedium vitae, Mendelsohn-Bartholdy's longing for peace in nature, and Hegel's academic anaemia and distilles them in a gorgeous sea blue bottle.
But be not mistaken, much like the Marxian critique of these, these concepts are not simply directly translated into individual notes but rather "turned from their heads on their feet".
Notes of burnt linen, rotten "Prinzregenten" cake and spoiled absinthe point towards things to come for Europe's middle power.

I think i like Vi et Armis and Terror and Magnificence the most, The Coeur de Noir and Tonnerre. I just couldn't do Fathom V and Rake and Ruin, they were just too abrasive.
I haven't tried Iron Duke and Lignum Vitae yet because they were shattered when my discovery box got here and those were the ones i was most curious about unfortunately.

>> No.15749657

>>15749614
They are very conceptual, I would not wear most of these personally but for me it was an interesting experience to try them out anyways. Fathom V would make a good, reflective fragrance for mourning after a loved one. It used to be a tradition in my culture to dress all black for couple months but it's hard to do it working in a professional environment.
>I haven't tried Iron Duke and Lignum Vitae yet because they were shattered when my discovery box got here and those were the ones i was most curious about unfortunately.

I complained to Beaufort since i bought it from them, and it was packaged really well with all kinds of bubble wrap, but there is a lot of room for the vials to move around in the discovery box itself though, so buyer be warned i guess, but they are sending me some new samples because of it.

Finally compared Night Flyer to my Bat decant, and I can't detect a meaningful difference. Everyone who has smelled it on me also says it is the same. Any opinions from others here who have compared them? Always hated not getting a full bottle of Bat, so I suppose I'm going to buy a full of Night Flyer.

I bought a sample of this back in September 2019 and I remember completely hating it. I just found the thread in the archive where I posted about it because I wanted to see what I wrote about it at the time and it turns out that I actually bought a full fucking bottle and completely forgot lmao. I bought it after spraying the sample on a strip and not my skin for some reason. I returned the bottle and kept the little sample and never sprayed it again.

I just sprayed it to remind myself about it, and I still hate it deep down, but I think I can sort of appreciate it a little bit more. Literally all I can smell is pissed-on urinal cake and it's fucking awful, but it's making me feel nostalgic for being a teenager and getting disgustingly drunk in dingy pubs around Christmas time. Maybe the lockdown is just getting to me

I've had this discussion here quite a few times and even now after smelling probably about 50+ rose+ouds at this point, this one is still the most masculine and best vibing with me of them all. Is it synthetic? Yes. Am I aware that there is not one iota of real oud in it? Yes. I've smelt many higher quality rose+ouds but they were either too feminine and sweet or there was something else not clicking with me. Whereas, every time I spray this Monntale while wearing a turtleneck and a nice coat on a cold winter day it instantly makes me feel seductive and like I emit a certain confidence aura. Coincidentally, it's my most complimented frag by women (most likely due to the fact how loud it is and how I feel like wearing it). It was also a X-mass gift from my ex-gf, so selling it would be just tacky but thankfully I like it a lot. I will most likely not rebuy it as I'd prefer having a bottle of Chypre Palatin back in my roto (or Ma Nishtana) for winter but I can imagine replacing it with POAL, that I also enjoy severely, if I wanted to get another 'oudy'-rose (but which is sadly more feminine than BA).
>>15752593
I'll be definitely rebuying this one once I finish this bottle. I was thinking about ESP recently and if I could pick just one fragrance for the rest of my life it would be probably it not the niche stuff you see there. It's so gorgeous and versatile.

You did quite good. Divina Terra is a clone of Interlude (not very surprising given that Terenzi is standing behind it). Peau de Bete is probably one of the most disgusting animalic fragrance I tried. I got it as a free sample and due to my poor French translated it as 'beautiful skin' (don't ask) and let my gf test it after she asked me about the samples. I told her to get a shower seconds after we smelled it.

I haven't put it there yet but I've heard similar things about Profumum bottles. Pretty shit attention to such a crucial detail for bottles that otherwise cost 220EUR. I had a vintage Chergui bottle which was the same - you had a cork and a separate sprayer and it'd never leaked.

This anon is right >>15752020 Don't listen to retards online talking left and right about reformulation just because the smell is different from how they had remembered it. Contrary, I know reformulations that made fragrances more likeable and just all-round better, so it's not like it's a bad thing in general. If you like the scent then don't listen to some idiots whining online. To give you some examples: I prefer the 2017 Eau Sauvage Parfum over the 2012 version by a mile and it was an absolute reformulation that changed the scent completely. Another, less extreme example: MDCI Chypre Palatin. One blogger made a campaign against it based solely on the fact that the color of perfume is lighter but guess what. I don't give a fuck about her whining, I literally finished my ''''''new''''''' ''''''''''reformulated'''''''''''' bottle over like 4 months and gonna buy another one in future. I also think that she just ordinarily lies and doubles down on it as Claude from MDCI made a statement refuting all of her claims and from the little I know this guy from exchanging some emails with him I believe him not some rando fragrance boomer reviewer.
