Any thoughts on the Tisell type A pilot with the hammer crown? I am heavily thinking about buying one in the next few days but I don't want to spend over $300 for a nice pilot. Anybody have any experience with it? The novelty of my Orient Union has run out

I always rec getting the Laco Augsburg that has slightly worse specs but way better strap than the Tisell and is similarly priced, also consider that Laco is one of the original pilot watch companies in the '20's if you really want to larp properly.

>The dial says 7110T. The caseback says 7111
Nah, that's fine. Case and dial code don't need to match exactly, often one case can have several different dials used. In this case, the dial also changed (thinner indices) when 5626-7000 case was changed to slimmer 7110. Then case was changed to 7111 (screw down caseback) and eventually 7113, but the dial stayed the same.
>the movement is A grade (unregulated). When I opened it up to mess with the timing as it was +16, the movement says 6256B, a regulated movement.
The accuracy grades are different from the versions of the movement, though they use the same letters (and grade A is better than B, but all 5626 are A grade anyway, whereas 5646 is AA, I think). 5626B is just a later version. It shouldn't even state the movement version on the caseback, just the number.

AliExpress, chink brand is called Phylida.
Works perfectly, +2s/day.

Lower subdial is an extra “complication” it is basically a 12h indicator... compared to the 24h indicator of the original. But the quality is great.

I paid about 135€, so for the price it’s a steal, shipping took like 2 months though.

you're mostly right, but there is at least one documented case of the US army sending infected blankets to a tribe they wanted to oust. we just happen to have the correspondence from the commanding officer on that one, but it seems very unlikely he was some military genius who figured it out in an "a-ha" moment, it was probably business as usual, particularly considering the anecdotal evidence goes back way before the passage was discovered.
but yeah, the bulk of natives died of white man diseases spread normally long before there was a United States, or a US army.

And he wanted to share his love of watches with others by producing homages to some of the classic pieces he owns. He is doing his part to democratize a higher standard of timekeeping. 38mm...... > the watch wears you, you what?okay!

The explorer was 36mm becasue that was the standard of the time but dress watches were standard, 36mm is perfect for a dress watch but the explorer is a sports watch. It should be larger for legibility, that's why Rolex make it 39mm but fucked the the bezel. Now its being meme by two YouTube who both didn't like it to start and bought it because it was cheap.

5 alternatives to the Omega Speedmaster that you probably haven’t considered

>Bell & Ross Heritage BRV2-94
>$5000
Flight-inspired, like most of the Bell & Ross range, this is a slightly smaller, yet more muscular, proposition to the beloved Speedy.
>Seiko Prospex SSC757J1
>$800
OK, so it’s not a mechanical chronograph, it’s not even hand-wound, but it’s a rock solid Seiko, and no matter what reference it has, we will still refer to it as the Sumo chronograph. A highly legible matte black dial with large polished indices punching above its class? You betcha!
>Sinn 140 St S
>$5000
This is the 2020 version of the Sinn 140 S that German astronaut Reinhard Furrer wore during a D-1 Spacelab Space Shuttle mission in 1985. Sinn, the German meisters of instrument watches, deliver a chunky, cushion-shaped case not too dissimilar to an astronaut’s helmet.
>The Bulova Lunar Pilot Chronograph (the other moon watch?)
>$440
Astronaut David Scott wore a Bulova Lunar Chronograph on his Apollo 15 mission. When it surfaced in 2015, it sold for a huge $1,300,000 USD at auction. So for those of you who just see a Speedy homage or a good-value chronograph, this has bona fide history under its belt.
>Bulgari Octo Velocissimo Chronograph
>$7300
Yes, it’s angular and not even vaguely similar to the Speedmaster Professional. But if you shut your eyes and really concentrate and imagine a Speedy with no history and no emotional baggage, this could represent a possible alternative.

Nah fuck Rolex, I've had explorer 2, explorer 1 mk2, milguass, sub no date, then I was planing to buy a 2 tone sub or steel daytona and cause myself on. £10k-£17 is out of the Rolex league and I should start looking at ap, vc, pp maybe a lange.

You should be buying a Sub when it comes to rolex as cliche as it sounds and move on. You have a rolex, there are better watches out there. So i have no Rolexs now, I'm just planing my next buy, overseas in blue most likely this year, my other watches will hold me over. I'm glad to be out of the rolex shit fest but when I see people meme 36mm explorers I get triggered because I know what a lad of shit they are, the braclets to the underwhelming size.

34mm, it's a 74000n.They made loads of different dial variations (mostly for the Asian market) and these pop up every now and then. Expect to pay around 1500, a little more or a little less. Be careful, lots of fake dials, hands and even cases. This has aftermarket hands and glass atm, I have the original ones, but they need to be relumed and can't be arsed to find a new glass. One midnight experiment, I fucked up the LCD of this greyed out W-59B-1AVEF with a bracelet from an A168. Now I'm looking for a replacement:
>digital watch
>small, elegant, and out of the way like an F-91W rather than like huge ridiculous g-shocks
>with better water resistance than an F-91W
>shows current time in stopwatch mode (or vice-versa?)
>ability to mute button press beeps (like on 5610 or AE1200)
I would list dual time too but already I can't find a watch that does exactly what I want. I'm considering B640 as closest, specifically black with a non-negative display (B640WB-1A). What are some alternatives?
https://www.casio-europe.com/fr/produits/montres/vintage/b640wb-1aef/

Also what if I got that black bracelet on the W-59? Could be cool too. I would have to get a new module. It's a cheap-ass bracelet but I prefer it because its light weight and comfort matches the small Casios. Plus, you can adjust it on-the-fly. Are there bracelets like that sold separately?

you need to live within your means
if your budget to buy a watch is $150 you should stick to that instead of saving up money that you could probably use elsewhere, to buy what is ultimately a luxury. you probably just want to be able to tell time by looking at your hand and for it to not look like dog shit. watches aren't supposed to be expensive, they were just a tool for working men with an element of personalization. all the hype and status and prestige is largely bullshit memes.
an orient mako/ray is $120 all day every day and you get a reliable, good looking watch with enough money left over to get a decent leather strap, and on a leather strap that watch can go literally anywhere for any occasion.
and you can get a $20 plastic casio ae1200 and that's actually a charming-looking watch that's very durable and has loads of features if you feel you ever need a no bullshit quartz backup. even the stock plastic strap is surprisingly supple and while people shill the "metal" one it's just chromed plastic that wears and the regular black look is sharp in its own way.
then, later on, when you can actually afford a better watch, you can buy it if you want it. this "big boy" watch stuff is bullshit, considering grown men who call themselves watchfags are out paying $10,000 for a fucking omega that has snoopy on it

San Martin, Steeldive, Heimdallr for some great Seiko homages and more. They use independent websites but can also be found on AliExpress.

Pagani Design for Rolex homages, found on AliExpress. I think they win in the best value for money ever found in a watch category.

Cadisen has some sleek designs and specs on certain models, also found on AliExpress.

Other great Chinese watches are Seagulls and Sugess.

Some Orients are great, but their super good stuff like the Kamasu are at the 200ish+ price range, the Mako is OK though.
