Great size, enjoy. Try out a black leather strap, older subs look amazing on them too. But leave the lug holes, don't get these shitty everest straps, the covering of the lugs just adds beef to it visually. I put my diver shitter on leather and can't go back to metal now. It looks too good.

Yeah, the lug parts are a dick to install. I can do it just fine, use my fingernail to keep the springbar in place. Also insert one side first and let one side of the bar rest just on the tip of the lug, then press down on the other side. But not sure if hollow endlinks are easier due to flexebility. Yeah, i would too, if i had such an experience. I do it like in the vid, but i dont pull that much. More like a leveraging move and a pull at the same time. Fix the watch with tape so it won't move. Also tape the lugs with thick masking tape in areas you might slip. Never force things or you will just slip harder.
Or get the springbar tool, they're cheap. Or an original bergeon, but prices on these are retarded.

there are chinese brands like beijing, shanghai or seagull that have decently long histories

the weakness of chinese brands is not really the quality or anything, they can produce to spec if they are paid (most swiss brands get their parts from china anyway); its the lack of originality to put it bluntly. Most chinese watches have a very safe, usually mid century western aesthetic (if they are not already homages). This is also why certain models like the seagull1963 are so popular, its one of the few very striking decidedly chinese designs.

but now there are brands like atelier wen and maison celadon trying original designs, so hopefully in the future we'd have more of that

>> No.15740501

I don't see any faults in those statements and they agree with >>15740493

That Atelier Wen is one of the best chink dials today but that's because it's not chink design, it is actually French with a mediocre +/-10spd generic shitter movement inside. They are basically anOrdain but with porcelain instead of enamel.

That is actually pretty accurate. The chinks do have low quality steel. They can be better but then they cost too much to be worth the hassle. I guess that the watch case will be doing fine. It's not like it's under big stress or needs special stouff done to it, where it could fail.

Why are power reserve indicators frowned upon?
They make perfect sense from a practical standpoint and when well integral to the design, dont make for an eyesore.

Just because the watch is ticking and the seconds is moving, doesnt mean the watch isnt on its last breath you can pick up a watch, turn it around three times and it will come alive, this may be more of a problem if you switch watches often, or have a few days of PR and dont know where you stand (or dont have a winder storage to be topped off all the time).

The Panerai I posted that fits well in the busy dial with a lot of subinfo going on, the PR of the Tudor which goes hand in hand with the tool watch look of the North Flag, or a small circular cutout with a red-white indicator as per Nomos?

Before I do something stupid, is Strapcode worth it for a Ray 2? Right now I'm rather comfy with my marine nationale modified to not pass under the watch. Problem is, it's not versatile enough, can't fit in to more formal occasions. I feel like with a nice bracelet, Ray 2 could fit every occasion. Pic related. Anyone with experience?

you can buy similar bracelets to that, only without the fitted links but with solid screwed end links and a milled clasp and everything, for 20 bucks on ebay and 30 on amazon. and it's the exact same thing as strapcode sells. in fact it probably comes out of the same chinese factory. the only difference is that you save $40 by not getting fitted end links.
also if you cared about "formal" occasions you would just put your watch on a LEATHER strap, because that goes with any occasion while bracelets are still a bit flashy.

>The dial says 7110T. The caseback says 7111
Nah, that's fine. Case and dial code don't need to match, often one case can have several different dials used. In this case, the dial also changed (thinner indices) when 5626-7000 case was changed to slimmer 7110. Then case was changed to 7111 (screw down caseback) and eventually 7113, but the dial stayed the same.
>the movement is A grade (unregulated). When I opened it up to mess with the timing as it was +16, the movement says 6256B, a regulated movement.
The accuracy grades are different than the versions of the movement, though they use the same letters (and grade A is better than B, but all 5626 are A gradd anyway, whereas 5646 is AA, I think). 5626B is just a later version. It shouldn't even state the movement version on the caseback, just the number.

Got my old man a Vostok Europe N1 Rocket for his 50th and he wears it to no end, the only hiccup was the rotor getting a bit loose.
He can wear it and flex it because he a is a gigawrist oldtimer welder/metal worker, worksmanship being a downfall, the bezel being looser than yo momma puzzy. The 7 link bracelet is also supremely comfortable, but the whole deal weighs a kilo. Also tritium.

He could do with a winder because the NH25 POS they put in them at that time cannot be wound with the crown, motion only.
