VUI and VU are good. Intense is, well, an intense version VU but even VU is OK for winter. I do not believe that Valentinos are inferior to DH. They were created by the same perfumer after all. Notably, the people who says Diors were ruined by reformulations, barking on the freshly issued Valentinos.
You can also try Givenchy Gentleman Parfum if VUI will be hard to find.

Hi, /frag/.
I own a bottle of Cool Water, my first perfume. I use it mostly to go to the beach and to the gym. I want to buy another fragrance to go out at night and maybe to rotate it with CW to go to the gym. What is your recommendation? I live by the beach in a forever warm and humid place. I'm in my early 20s about to graduate college. I don't want something too loud, I am a sober person. Also preferably below $100.
Jerememe recommended Versace pour homme for the gym and I heard is good to go out at night too. Should I get one?

Worth it only if you're after the historical value or they bring out the dearest of your memories out of your mind. If you're after a scent then not worth it in 99/100 cases. The huge circlejerk fragcommunity makes it feel otherwise by glorifying and romanticizing the vintages but in reality most of the vintage juice was exposed for decades to direct sunlight and stored in shit environment like bathrooms so they anyway don't smell anything like they used to. The quality, natural ingredients catch phrase is also bs. They used naturals because chemistry wasn't as advanced as it is now and you didn't have as many amazing synthetics. I guarantee you that if they had access to inventions in modern chemistry they wouldn't bat an eye to use them. We also live in the golden era of perfumery right now. I don't see point in chasing vintages of dubious quality if you have 100x more choice than in past. Everyone will find something to suit their likings if they look deep enough.

I'm for long enough in these threads to notice that here people rather cringe at the made up from their asses history of the brand and the fanbase made mostly of divorced men in their 40s. They are also overpriced for what these fragrances are. I personally would be all over BdP if Nicolai NYI didn't exist. You're also right about Aventus. It's overplayed af (and I personally hate it) but it's definitely one of the most important fragrances of the last decade that started a modern masculine take on the fruity-chypre structure that most people associated with Mitsuoko.

I really love Le Male, maybe it's a nostalgia thing but I've always loved it and probably will always have a bottle (although the one I have is way too old and I should probably ditch it). I got a 10ml sample of Ultra Male and holy shit it's weird. It's the sweetest thing I've ever smelled. I wore it on a night out once and when I woke up the next morning with a bad hangover the smell of Ultra Male was so strong it made me puke lmao. I finished the sample eventually but really I can't imagine anybody ever wearing this

Any thoughts on this guy? I liked the sample I smells at the department store but the only other other one I tried was essenza which I liked but found a little too orange blossom-y (neroli?) Idk not too good at this stuff. The pure was a little more shaving creamy and citrus zest or something. Also any cartier frags good? The lady gave me some samples of them even tho I did not ask about cartier and I havent smelt them yet.

I’m just a lurker over there, but one of the classic AdPs, BdJ, Eau Sauvage, PR PH, Azzaro PH is basically an exhaustive list.
Spergs will add Drakkar Noir or Brut.
But that’s the problem with tip in general, you end up with something rather unimaginative or spergy.
Had one exchange semester at an Ivy League school in the past (I’m a Europoor) and the only fa&tip professor was a guy that was filthy rich, had accomplished everything in life und basically teaches in order to not get bored in his mansion. An incredibly nice and spergy (in a good professoral manner) guy, but i guess that he wouldn’t pay more than 20$ for a frag.
You can’t even combine the aesthetic with more expressive classical fragrances like MDCI IB, because it has too much personality.

I went to an ancient Oxbridge college and fellows there often wore really nice frags. I'm 100% positive I identified GIT on one of them. Half of them didn't care about attire though (especially those from STEM disciplines) but other half was quite fa&tip. Also the posh students I've met there typically were wearing whatever their mothers gifted them for Christmas.

These bottles are so ugly. The label in the middle looks vile. The good thing is that apparently caps are magnetic and ridiculously tough to open for a bottle of perfume, so it filters out all of the s*yboys from owning these frags automatically.
