I never had a single person comment on it. It is the fact that it is a watch that works and works extremely well while feeling good while you wear it. Gimmicky marketing (James Bond Edition; XY edition), selling an almost completely Swatch-designed and produced calibre as an "in-house movement", marketing tricks (Co-Axial has no real merit, no artistic value and is simply their next choice of hype train) etc...
Rolex watches are simply not liked by the ordinary consoomer watch guy because they look simple, they are expensive and they have been used as a status symbol forever.
If you don't know shit about watches, you love Rolex. If you acquire consoomer-tier information about watches you hate the brand. And once you start to know more you get back to loving Rolex.

>A European court has told Lewis Hamilton a 100-year-old watchmaker may continue using his surname.
>Hamilton’s company "44IP" appealed to the European Union Intellectual Property Office over the use of the name by Hamilton International. The watch-making company was founded in Pennsylvania in 1892, 93 years before the Mercedes driver was born, and registered the term ‘Hamilton’ in 2014 for a range of goods.
>The court noted 44IP, “a company holding the intellectual property rights relating to the racing driver Lewis Hamilton”, brought a case in 2017 challenging the scope of the registration and arguing fair competition had been impeded. This was rejected, and 44IP appealed against the decision in February.
>The Fourth Board of Appeal ruled against 44IP following their latest attempt to stop the watchmaker using the name, stating its case was “not well-founded”. It noted the EUTM proprietor [Hamilton International] “has demonstrated a legitimate interest in the registration of the contested mark and its intention to register the contested sign falls within a normal commercial strategy on how to protect the intellectual property rights of the designation ‘Hamilton’.”
>“The argument relating to the IP rights of the racing driver ‘Lewis Hamilton’ fails,” it continued. “The contested mark consists solely of one word, ‘Hamilton’, and not ‘Lewis Hamilton’”, which it noted “is a rather common surname in English-speaking countries.”
>“There is no ‘natural right’ for a person to have his or her own name registered as a trade mark when that would infringe third parties’ rights,” it added.

Maybe they want to move into a more luxury market. Grand seikos problem is that you see low end seikos everywhere and people associate them with that.

If there are limited numbers of their mire budget offerings around and even those are being traded at a premium its hypes them up. Its probably the equivalent of free advertising.

I don’t know. The reductionist says that something is worth whatever someone will pay. Even though I think Patek still makes the best watches in the world along with ALS (discounting any extreme niches like FP Journe), I find their constant price increases and slimy marketing techniques totally distasteful. Patek MSRPs were hiked up to 15% at the beginning of October.

Don’t get me started on the absolute insanity of the used market. Some of the blame lies with Patek but most of it lies with idiotic “investors.”

The AE1200 is like a GShock on a budget. It has so many great features. Silent operation, strong backlight, 10 year battery, 4 time zones. The sizing is perfect too. Big enough to be substantial, but still feather light and not too large.
And the A700 is just a straight upgrade to the F91W. It looks retro but adult. The display is great, and the band just works.

For the second time in this thread (ok, maybe it was the last one), the difference between 6R and 4R is the mainspring material (7S was turned into a hacking, handwinding 6R with special alloy mainspring for longer power reserve, then that was downgraded to 4R). Both 6R and 4R are slightly thicker than 7S (mainly how high the hands sit, actually), but normally not enough to cause problems. You can use your old movement holder, if there's any difference. I wouldn't really bother swapping though, you already have all the same functionality in NH35 and it can be regulated pretty well. The difference in PR is not worth that much to me.

It's more of an overseas dial into a nautilus case. When I look at it from an angle the dial looks like the one on the 4500v. The markers and sloped chapter ring look similar too. The bezel doesn't even look octagonal unless you really focus on it. What I love though is the brush and polish ratio on the case. It is just right.

Yea okay, go for it, I think as of now its a better buy than the 36mm, 36mm is underwhelming and especially for a sports watch, could deal with it when it was half the price of the 39mm but not now. I do miss the gloss dial on the of the 36 vs the matte of the 39 but the build quality differents is night and day.

I would just put your name down at your ad, wait it out but if you can't or are a 1 watch guy fair enough.

Just a word of warning the explorer / 2 is due an update in the next year or two, new movement and they will probably thin the lugs and case down a bit like they did with the datejust and sub. Good luck getting it when that happens, so it is probably a good time to buy, idk if I would sell my gold bullion? You meant to keep that bro, just saying.
