The square is a pretty understated G-Shock. Rangeman/Mudman/Mudmaster look cool but the Rangeman/Mudmaster are fucking big. The Casio Duro is a pretty good quartz diver but it's also pretty big and the lume is not ideal. It works as a tactical watch since it tells the time, the date, and you can use the bezel for timing.
Marathon is overpriced. Bertucci makes military watches too and theirs are also overpriced but much less than Marathons, and those have a pretty understated look

Talk to me about rubber and silicone straps.
Ive had a cheap 8 yuro rubber strap that I could cut and microadjust (clasp) to my exact preferences and loved it, fell apart at the lugs after about a decade. Nowadays the same one costs 20 yuros, wtf.
I also hear silicone straps are lint magnets, anyone have a QRD or article as to what is what and what are the going rates for a good one right now? Third party straps.

Well for one, the Hamilton has a field watch dial while the 809 has a weird miniaturized German pilot dial.
For two, while the Hamilton has a sapphire crystal, the 809 only has Hardlex. It will collect dings and scratches.
The Seiko also says "SEIKO 5" on the dial in a raised shiny bit of metal so that's kind of a tell.
For three, the Hamilton has a metal bracelet while the 809 has a cheap strap. There's a variant 809K with a metal bracelet as well, but it's cheap folded links.

And while it won't be noticeable for others, for your every day usage the 7s26 movement isn't the most accurate movement in the world. They're notorious for running fast and you'll find yourself setting the watch several times a month.

Don't get me wrong, Hamiltons are kind of overpriced and the 809 is a fair amount of watch for the money, but you're not going to pass one off as the other for anyone who would care about that sort of thing. And anyone who wouldn't care isn't going to care about your watch either way.
