>Omega made the 2008 Speedmaster Moonwatch Alaska Project as a “re-issue” of essentially a few very obscure Omega watches from the past. These are the original Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project watch from 1969/1970 and the later Speedmaster Alaska Project II watch that came a bit later. The 2008 model combines elements from these both. The coolest among these original Alaska Project watches were produced as five prototype watches at the request of NASA who wanted an even beefier timepiece for use in space. NASA was also planning a (never to be realized) mission to the dark side of the moon where temperatures are much cooler.
>Therein came the “Alaska Project” name, because much of Alaska is very cold. The watch was developed with an optional red aluminum housing that was meant to offer the watch additional shielding from high and low temperature extremes (as the story goes). According to Omega, the case “shield” offers temperature resistance up to 260 degrees Celsius and down to -148 degrees Celsius. Aluminum apparently has a high thermal retention, so it doesn’t heat up or cool down very quickly. I think that is more important than its actual insulating capacity. The red color was also chosen for specific reason – related to either ambient radiation or protection against sunlight.

Perhaps the most amazing element of the 2008 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Alaska Project limited edition watch was that is actually came with specially made aluminum outer-casings that you could wear with the watch. This was a very rare addition to a limited edition Omega watch, in that there was a specially designed accessory to go with it aside from the watch case, straps, and tools.

Not to forget, strap choice makes a lot of the overall aesthetic. The lugs on my 40 are so agressively turned downward, they add another 2mm to the overall height, but guess what, with a correct strap, it vanishes and makes it look as though it is hugging the wrist more.

More sensors although a lot of them are gimmicky. Much tough, better lights, water resistance. The middle button is a lot better than the light on the F91W, and the F91W has random water resistance. Sometimes you can shower with it sometimes a dip in the pool kills it. The F91W is just one plastic piece while the G-Shocks have a "bezel" and the module itself is also more protected.

They are cheap, have great specs for the money but you do risk qc issues, but there isn't much to screw up with how simple that watch is. One anon bought a san martin rolex clone recently and they sent the wrong color so now he has to wait for them to exchange it, another got a watch where the gasket wasn't installed properly so he had to take the back off and reseat it because it was interfering with the rotor, but otherwise people have had good luck. Especially those pilots watches are some of the best value stuff on the market for a beater with sapphire and good water resistance. Also you will probably want to spend a few dollars getting a different strap for it but they are cheap and easy to swap.

the only thing you have to check when buying "womens watches" is their specs as many brands just lazily slap in a shitter quartz movement (since women dont care about specs) and you'd likely have to swap the strap too if you want to wear it as dude since they taper too greatly

I can't stand that voice+hand movement, it's really fake, monotonous voice, and the same fucking 3 types of hand motion in every single video, looks extremelly fake.The hand movement really triggers me, it does not add anything of value to the content, yet there it is on every video, trying to look something that is personal, but it is fucking sterile and dehumanized, the hands does not show nothing, one hand holds the watch, the other moves just a bit using he same movement pattern in every video, feels like those japanese human robots that try to make human movements but they fail because the movements are souless and rigid.
