gonna chime in here o disagree actually - I think that the back face of most of the pieces of le Corbusier's furniture has been treated with a level of care rare in furniture design. It is not only nicely proportioned, but it is also equally a functional composition as well as aesthetically consistent with the rest of the couch.

>>15666292
These couches are a bit played out right now due to their popularity in the early 2000s, but trends in furniture are less fierce than in clothing. In the right context they can be great. And hey, they're an important artifact of the start of Bauhaus from one of the most influential Architects and academics of the past 100 years (although absolutely derivative of Eileen Gray's work, but don't get me started on that.)

They're totally interior design emergent-memecore right now haha.

The camaleonda is worth further consideration - the way it works as a modular set by strapping together is really cool, with the same straps also functioning to give the couch its form. I got so hyped on them that I built my own couch based on the concept haha

Unironically books remain a great way to learn this stuff, especially because so much work that looks modern was done as far back as the 20s and 30s.

I’m disappoint that the internet now has less creative stuff on it now that it’s all Facebook-Reddit-YouTube content instead of weird creative shit like fffffound and small blogs. Hoping the internet can turn back into a more varied place instead of what it’s become so that anons can learn cool stuff.

If it’s furniture/interior design you want to learn about, go through the catalogues of Cassina, De Sede, B&B italia etc and find who designed pieces that interest you. Then just get used books or hit the library and you’ll start finding all of these other interesting less mainstream projects they’ve worked on.

For architecture there are still rich online sources like dezeen, archillect, arch daily etc. Then you can extend what you find via books again.

>> No.15667877

>>15667869
And just stay open and interested. One of the most random things for me was when I lived next to some subsidized housing our neighbors threw out this pair of round tables, one had a broken glass top and the other had a dented base. I walked past them for two weeks before I was like “wait these tables are by someone interesting” and so I took the good base and the good glass top and cleaned them up. Eventually found out they were by Eileen Gray and it blew my mind to learn that Corbusier essentially lifted the design of his furniture directly from her work after staying a weekend at her country house. It’s so funny if you look at bauhaus work before that weekend - its all extremely modern looking architecture with random Victorian furniture because they just hadn’t figured that bit out yet...

yeah this seems interesting, but our couch is dark brown + mustard on the back cloth, so we were thinking of a dark ecru linen cushion cover. the floral green/white is a little too bright i think.

for anyone else, this entire setup was scrounged a lot. the couch was free from CL, the cloth covering the back of the couch was $13, the le corbusier knockoff was $40, the speaker setup around $80 (sub $40, speakers + amp $40), the coffee table $50 from a flea market. in the kitchen the dining table was $10 and we put up a lot of this stuff since there's no security deposit (pot rack, spice rack, magnetic knife rack, shelving, the pendant lights). i think total we spent around $2-3k furnishing this place, if you're patient you can find a lot of the stuff slowly by slowly (we started 9/1)

I did recently drop 22kg, but I'm aiming more for a svelte aesthetic.

At 185cm and 94kg I'm in a good place, but I think the layering really pads me out again.

i think they look dumb. disguised yeah and it's nicer than a big black rectangle . but those big black rectangles are in every room. it's not horrid or unusual. there's no real need to disguise it. if your interior design is tight enough the focus won't be the tv regardless of whether it's styled to look like a painting. pretending your tv is a picture frame just tells me you couldn't actually commit to buying a piece of art

Go to the hardware store and pick out some shelf mounting brackets. Get some screws and a stud finder if you don't have them already.
grab a small can of wood stain while you're there.

If it's a decent hardware store they'll also have a stack of pre cut shelving boards.
If not then go to the dimensional lumber and pick out a straight piece of 1x10, ask them to cut it down to length
Fair warning: most hardware stores only carry Spruce/Pine/Fir wood, which isn't especially rustic looking even when stained.
You may need to source wood elsewhere if you're particular with how the grain looks.
