I would not try for Joe Biden-core. He literally dresses like a politician from 1950, and the Seamaster 300M is horrible on him. The 300M's features with its curves from the twisted lugs to the scalloped bezel, the complex bracelet, and eye-catching dial and handset, are meant to be a sleek, flashy watch that seems purpose-built but doesn't look out of place anywhere. The Vulcain Cricket is an alarm watch. The 4th hand sets the alarm. Besides the standard "pull crown out, adjust time/date" function, you wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise, and wind the alarm spring by rotating it counterclockwise. Press the pusher and the crown pops out in alarm mode. You set the hour amd then an internal of 10 minutes. Then push it back in to activate the alarm.

Marathon msar/gsar is definitely not a homage and has cool glowie bits and a very military. Otherwise what you posted is probably the most military looking diver.

If you have a fair bit of money one of the non gilt dial tudor black bays since they have a lot of military heritage and say have a rolex look, can't rip off your own parent company and seem a bit more utilitarian than the rolex sub.

That's the best I could find that isn't ancient, I looked into CWC but the designs are slightly too shoddy-looking. It just looks so much like a cheap Sub though.

San Martin Nautilus update: After extensive testing this week, it is clear that the problem lies with the automatic mechanism.
Winding the watch fully through the crown gives a power reserve of 40-42 hours, but it makes no difference whether I leave it on a table the whole time or wear it throughout the day.
I have written to San Martin explaining the issue. I don’t know what to expect from them, but we’ll see what they say.

I’ll probably use the opportunity to try and open it up and fix it, knowing full well that I will most likely fuck it up.

I reached out to the NY Lange Boutique to inquire about availability of a recent “Boutique Exclusive” release. What a terrible experience. Despite having purchased five complicated Langes from my AD over the last 3 years (which I made clear) they treated me like I was some kind of pleb who walked in wearing a Fossil and flip flops. Another friend who I was hoping to convert from AP/Rolex to Lange had a similar experience. While he hadn’t yet ever purchased a Lange, he walked in fully intending to buy one and walked out saying “I’ll never buy a Lange after being treated that way. Never.” Very disappointing.

I understand why some brands with long wait lists and watches trading well above MSRP might give new prospects customers the occasional Heisman (Rolex, PP, etc). But give me a break Lange. My buying history from ADs should count toward something, especially given that I don’t live in a city with a Botique. I felt like I was being penalized for buying locally from a business with which I have a long-standing relationship. And worse, I felt like I was being extorted being asked to buy a “core” piece from the Botique to prove my loyalty to the brand before they would even be willing to provide details of availability for the LE piece.

Lange owner here. I do not know why this guy was so secretive about the "boutique exclusive" because the *only* watch Lange have an application process for is the Odysseus. It is also the only time I've ever experience the staff saying buying another watch will give you preferential treatment and it was the same for other people in other locations so that would mean its a company directive. It's like they are trying to copy Patek or AP to increase perceived rarity and demand.

Everything else is simply a case of going on a waitlist if not in stock or being told a limited edition has already been assigned.

the thing about MWC, it has kinda dodgy history
it claims to be involved in real military issue, but on WUS people investigated its history and the link was very tenuous at best, apparently they supplied some parts for some african country IIRC but even the hardevidence wasnt there.
And of course the name MWC is very close to CWC which it is trying to ape, I guess. So the "military arrow" is mostly stolen valour/larping.

Maybe consider a Citizen Promaster, it is real mil-spec (the NY004 was issued to Italian seals) the price is roughly in the same ballpark, it is a quartz but citizen is known for quartz(ecodrive) and it is very well made.

Rolex is the De Beers of watches and if you have not realized that yet you are destined to be fleeced your whole life.
There is no difference between a Rolex and some Chinese Rolex ripoff except that a white man's hands touched the former and spent an extra hour polishing and regulating it. They most likely come from the same factory. The rest is marketing.

First of all wrist size can not accurately be described in length. Generally one could say there is width and height, and there is a unique shape to every wrist on this planet. So no two people with 7 inch wrists have the same wrists.
Also there is a matter of personal preference and taste. If someone, like my friend, likes to wear giant watches since he was 15 i won't even notice he is wearing one, same goes for the old chap reading the newspaper in the corner of the pub that has been wearing hand-wound 34mm dress watches for his whole life, both can get away with it.
Also this is fashion after all, it is you who expresses yourself in one way or another by wearing clothes and accessories, therefore there can be no wrong decision, only different interpretations.

Rolex has not had an original design in like 50 years
>resale value
If this is that important to you you are hopeless
>ease of repair
Rolex doesn't actually fix watches most of the time, they just have an authorized watchmaker do it. Their repairs are rarely, if ever, in house. That said you can simply replace the movement on a homage for cheap or order parts from the seller directly while Rolex often will not even repair vintage models.

If your self-respect is tied to owning a Rolex you should hang yourself. It's not even a big dick watch anymore, any boomer can buy one.

Most of the vintage watches I bought early in my collection I ended up not liking once I bought my first modern watches. Vintage is cool with its history and affordability but I simply ended up not wearing them. They were a hassle to set, maintain and repair. Modern watches just work and are more reliable and accurate. I have a Chopard L.U.C ltd edition I regret. Not a bad watch at all but unremarkable compared to others I now have. Same for my Vacheron though I probably regret most how much it depreciated and I never wear it because it's too formal.

As for some of the watches that have (surprisingly) grown on my the most. Hmm, my all yellow gold AP RO - its pure fun, my Eichii II - minimalist perfection that gets better every time I see it. Also my Rolex DD 40, my first expensive modern watch I bought when I knew nothing about watches, I simply liked how it looked, but it is my most worn watch this year because it is just a damn good watch and easy to wear and use.
