It's gross to post as a tripfag, but this board is in shambles. I'm gonna try my best to make it a little better, and maybe eventually some of the oldfags will come back.

I like this fit a lot because it's a minimalist take that you cannot really go wrong with. Even though it's probably not what the designers had in mind when designing the individual pieces, it still looks pretty good. The cropped trousers might be too much for some posters, however.

Speaking of Yohji, I saw these pants off Y!Jpn. They were way above what I'd spend secondhand for a pair of pants, but the detailing and the embroidery is fantastic. Yohji has always focused on silhouette and materials.

These oldfags that you talk about didn't necessarily leave its just that they grew to move on to different things and that necessarily might include not posting here. The idea of preserving the same group posting the same fits over years is just odd because things are different compared to how they used to be

Realistically instead of just dwelling on what you think is the 'best time of this board' you should just create your own content and add it because constantly reposting the same stuff is what's created this stagnation not these people that used to post here leaving

Sorry I had to base the material off memory and Google Translate. According to the codes, they're from his Spring/Summer 2011 collection which was dandy-inspired.

Here's a link to the collection:
https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2011-menswear/yohji-yamamoto

It's probably one of his better ones in the past ten years, next to FW 2019. Diehard Yohji fans would say he's become a sellout, however.

>>15644533

I'm being pretty sincere. I am not sure actually how I want to go about this. Relating to your last statement, I know I have to post high-effort content, but it's hard. I'm really glad for the criticism. It's probably true that Knoch is never gonna post here again. However, the OG tripfags brought quality content and discussion to this shithole. If there are a couple of posters on this site who try to do that, tripcodes or not, I do not really care either/or.

Can you add on to how it's not constructive? I am really trying.

>>15644587
Go onto Yahoo! Japan/Rakuten and proxy shit. I found all my pants through that without paying huge amounts of money. Or find a good thrift store and get stuff tailored. Hedi era stuff still goes for a premium. Try to watch pants you like on Grailed, and wait for the seller to drop prices.

If you're looking at artisanal brands along the line of Deepti Barth and CCP, then Stylezeitgeist might be a good place to check for deals. SSense has their end of season sales. Atelier NY sometimes has sales I think. Otherwise shell out $$$

Because there's this air that since these old tripfags left new people are constantly compared to these people that dont even post here any more. There's plenty of other people that do styles similar to knoch well but are just shit on for "trying to hard to be knoch"

>Can you add on to how it's not constructive? I am really trying.
> like how he styled ramones in an outfit that wasn't gothninja-y, which always came across as tryhard.

Specific pieces being relegated to specific genres sounds pretty creatively stifling to me. Why wouldn't people want to try to branch out and use things in ways they want to instead of having to adhere to specific (and sometimes incredibly vague and dated genres) alongside the fact that calling something "tryhard" really means literally nothing and serves to absolutely deteriorate what little critique could be made

Based. I will keep everything you said in mind going forward.

I do feel it's necessary to build rapport in facilitating discussion. In this thread, I'm posting about Yohji. Newfags hopefully at least know who he is. It doesn't help if I photodump some unknown designer that's never been posted to this website before. What would be there to talk about? In that regard, I do want to have some form of genre exist. Gothninja, techwear, dark academia, lunarcore, etc. all popped up as a result of this need for genre. Idk if that makes sense or not.

Incidentally, you also seem to know what you're talking about, so post inspo.

>I'm posting about Yohji. Newfags hopefully at least know who he is. It doesn't help if I photodump some unknown designer that's never been posted to this website before. What would be there to talk about?

Personally I think while designers are obviously at the forefront of the field in general it feels strange to me because high fashion has very little bearing on the majority of people that post here. To me what's interesting is seeing people put their personal creativity towards assembling themselves something thats not just manufactured from some sort of idea of "well this is what is at the top so its the most desirable" yohji is absolutely interesting but whats more interesting is seeing what people decide to incorporate when they take inspiration from what they see

>I do want to have some form of genre exist. Gothninja, techwear, dark academia, lunarcore, etc. all popped up as a result of this need for genre. Idk if that makes sense or not

The problem is even each one of these genres are fairly vague and nebulous while having a couple examples of "what they are" that really never change. It's obviously a great creative starting point when there's a genre people can attempt to create something to fit that mold but creatively stifling when trying to blend several ideas together that may have elements from several genres

Don't get me wrong though I find it amazing that someone can get struck with inspiration and post a few pictures and work out an idea in a way that gets enough people also adding to it until it becomes a collective thing

That's really what brings me coming back. It's fun when it feels like there's an actual give and take
