Any anons have experience buying Spier & Mackay shirts? I’m about to cop a few of their OCBDs since they seem to be good quality and have decent collar roll for the price.

I’m trying to figure out whether I should go with the Contemporary fit or the Slim fit. All the reviews and photos I see online are for the Slim or Extra Slim fits, so I have no idea how the Contemporary fit looks. I’m looking for a shirt with a little bit of drape, and the Slim fit looks a little too fitted for me. I’m worried though that the Contemporary will go too far in the other extreme and be too baggy. I also wonder whether, since I’m rail thin (6’, 37.5” chest, 32” waist, very low body fat), the Slim fit will be a little baggier on me than it is on the pot-bellied middle aged guys who are posting reviews.

I know this is a super-specific question and a hard one to answer over an online forum. Worst case scenario is I’ll just buy one of each since they’re so cheap and try them both.

I’m also wondering whether anyone knows the difference between their normal OCBD fabric and their new Lightweight fabric. Some reviews complain that the normal fabric is a little heavy, while some say that it’s fine. I’m worried however that if I go with the lightweight fabric it will be too thin, wrinkly, and not have enough weight to drape well. Again, I can’t find any reviews online that discuss this

how would you guys transition from wearing tight-fit white t-shirts and khakis/shorts into trad style?
the autumn is already creeping in here and i've got no idea where to get decent clothes, and my second hands are running low lately (also come from polan country)
and how would i go about shoes, i've been walking mostly barefoot or using minimalist shoes or sandals which look pretty traditional but won't be enough when the cold hits and i'd rather not stuff my feet into shoes that will keep deforming my already week feet

If you need to discuss prep, and read “resources” about prep, and post about prep on 4chan, you’re a poseur.

Real east coast blue bloods inherit a wardrobe full of old sweaters from their grandad who was the captain of the Dartmouth squash team. You can’t compete with the real thing, you’ll look like new money at the absolute best.

It would be better to find your own style, something that’s less than 100% LARP.

LL Bean duck boots are well liked
A good pair of weatherproofed leather boots would probably go far as well.
In winter, especially harsh conditions, you want durable, comfortable footwear first of all. Worry about being 'trad' later.

>> No.15593983

>>15593926
Honestly, those shoes are fine. They might not be on the official list of /tip/ approved styles, but they can definitely vibe with the spirit of /tip/, which is to "dress down" nice but casual clothes with relatively rugged shoes and outerwear.

Wear those boots with khakis, an OCBD, and a chunky wool sweater or a jacket and you'll be /tip/, no question.

Since your foot condition limits you to certain kinds of minimalist footwear, another thing you can maybe do is invest in some minimalist white canvas sneakers or moccasins for wearing when the weather isn't so bad. White canvas shoes and moccasins are decidedly prep, and while the minimalist shoes you need to buy might have a different profile than typical /tip/ approved models, they will be close enough.

Fit is great, no doubts about that.
The green pants are hideous. Lime green with a touch of neon. They absolutely do not go with the cream belt and socks. The two-tone belt is tacky and looks like he is wearing parts of two different belts.
Changing the trousers to almost any neutral would look a dozen times better. Even dark green would work better. The yellow in the belt, watch, and socks still would stand out but the contrast would play much better.

Won a bid for very lightly used Rancourt loafers at well below what I'd say is the average auction price. The seller messaged me saying that he has lost the shoes in a recent move. I reckon this could be true if I'm being charitable. The seller is either dishonest or extremely negligent. Shoes are the most important clothing item when it comes to overall comfort and health. leather shoes mold to your foot as do the insoles. Buying second hand shoes, especially too-good-to-be-true ones, is just asking for problems.

Not sure of the quality but the following site has a ton of different designs for around $100 each
