i ordered like 6 straps off them;
-the perlons were the worst. (both the normal perlon and the "premium perlon". Very stiff
-the rest were a mixed bag
-the $15 premium-made-in-sweden "Kvarnsjö Racing strap" was way too thick (like 4mm!) and the paint on the side of the strap was sloppy and some was on the front of the strap (luckily the excess was easily scraped off with a fingernail)
-their nato was meh, not good not bad. Slightly stiff and keepers didnt feel too solid. The best nato I have so far is still an AE one.

however, the "vintage suede single pass nato" was amazingly soft,
and their "seatbelt fabric 2 piece strap" is very good, (only like $3 on sale now btw). But the sizing is off by 1mm, I ordered 18mm; it fitted onto a 19mm tristar barely. Its probably one of my favourite straps now though. Not sure if the colour combi works but meh, its cheap and I like it

Wearing it on the bone is jsut straight-up uncomfortable. Blocks some of your movement too, and might even damabe some straps by deforming them over time.
if you wear it lower on the wrist, you don't get any of these problems and you also don't need to wear your watch as tight in order for it to stay in place.

Unintentionally put together an 3-watch <$10k collection.
Also happens to be all Seiko, all quartz, all bracelet, and all chunky.
In the past few months (or maybe weeks, the pandemic has robbed me of my sense of time) it's just these 3 pieces that have been seeing any real use, except for when I change to a different piece maybe once a day just to keep them running.

・Daily/travel - Landmaster SD
Large and readable, with 10 bar WR more than enough for typical daily use. Unfortunately the GMT won't see much use now, but at least it looks cool.
・Outdoor/beater - MM300 Tuna
300m of WR, highly legible without getting in the way for being too bulky. Stainless steel case+shroud and a quartz movement deals with any impacts too.
・Dressy/weekend - Snowflake
It's the snowflake. Would have been perfect if it were the double logo version though.

HOW?
I somehow do not believe that, after hundreds of years experience in watch making, modern materials and oils and modern machienes for watch production, we still can not manage to make a movement that is almost maintenance free.

Why the fuck do you have to keep your "classy" watch on while exercising? It makes no sense. Divers are not elegant either. What you want is a sport watch but beware because that's just a name, you can't mistreat a mechanical watch. Even when riding a bike you must be careful, if you're riding hard I advise you don't wear a mech. In your case a Casio Edifice (quartz) might be better and then you can get a mechanical for when you're doing something chill.

The oils could dry up, but that has nothing to do with whether you moved it or not. What is going to wear a sealed watch down if nothing is running?

There is some debate about whether the oils will settle in spots leaving rubies and metal on metal exposed in certain areas when you do decide to wear it, but the jury is out. The watchwinder is just if you use multiple automatics and don't want to let them run out when you aren't planning to wear them for a while.

Fav is the quartz diver, love it on the leather strap, second is the zeppelin. The junkers is nice but the bauhaus dial and hands bores me now. I will find some fun dial and hands that fit it and a good metal bracelet. Just found pic related but it's 95 euro on ebay and looks bad. But i like this style. Hands would be different tho. It will looks great with the domed glass from the junkers.

recently it has been lots of Vostok Neptunes but just get a case shape and dial that you like. That pic is the 420 case (smallest that vostok has outside of fringe stuff like ladies/cadet)

pay a bit more for stainless steel, if you go too cheap on meranom it will be plated brass. You can change the toy bezel to a seiko one or a clean bezel like these if you dont use the bezel timer anyway

>>15557634

>why is handwind better
because a rotor adds 2-4mm bulk (thickness) and for a small classy watch like that you wouldnt want it

and personally, i enjoy handwind more than pure automatics. Its more interactive, you get to handle the watch daily, and its much less of a pain if you are not wearing it. With pure autos they die after a day or two and if you want to wear them again, you have to reset the time and date. Thats why some people get an autowinder. That said, most autos these days also support handwinding so you can just manually wind your watch.

>Timex Marlin
'expensive' if you are new (i used to think that way too), but honestly its not. Anything below $500 is entry level in mechanicals. If you can find the marlin reissue under $150 its a good enough deal, otherwise i wouldnt. For the timex it is a modified auto+handwind seagull with its rotor removed to make it handwinding only.
