• Blue Seamaster is going sometime
• Might get a auto Nomos
• Pick up a Nomos Orion 35mm
• Wait list for a Sub No Date, someday never

technically-- there is nothing wrong.
but swatch watches are plastic disposable fashion watches, made to be worn and thrown away. Cant get the movement swapped out when it dies (there is no caseback),and integrated straps make changing them out a pain. Imagine paying $50-$80 for such a thing, when casio only asks for $15 and AE brands give you the house and the car for $80.

swatch watches are the bottom barrel of the Swatch Group--scratch that, they are the drain gutter that the barrel sits on. Hate the feminine bulbous curvy shape that reminds me of an overweight fat woman. Outside of certain iconic watches (jellyfish, random ghost, halloween etc) they have little worth.

I kind of just want to add watches slowly over time. I did the whole 2 watch thing and I like having a small collection, the hording and own is very satisfying.

As of right now watches are fun money for me, 7 watches under 10k. If I want 7 watches higher end level, it would be 25k+ and it's a bit more serious then. I will in time but get to that level but I would rather invest most of my money now while I'm young.

a watch collection is not about getting watches other people approve of

a watch collection is about getting watches you like, watches that reflect your own personal tastes. There is no real right or wrong as long as you are happy.

whats the point of having a "collection" of the usual XYZ watches, like checking the tickboxes off a list of the "top ten watches under $20000"? soulless and insipid, reeks of needing validation and asspats.

>> No.15548360

>>15548341
they are disposable because the watch cannot be opened to be repaired and they have gone to great lengths to ensure that in the past. They even released mechanical watches that was sealed and with plastic parts inside so its eventual demise is 100% guaranteed.

i'm not going to disagree with that. however, i dont see how a JLC doesnt fit into that collection as it is lacking in anything dressier. an IWC would get you a top quality watch that satisfies the aesthetics of both stowa and laco, and getting rid of the blue seamaster at the very least reduces redundancy further. the homos is whatever and the seagull is pretty much junk.

there is nothing wrong with shitters (i would even say that everyone needs some) and it actually has the most character in that box. mechanical specs and history wise it delivers so much for $300. The HKED was specifically made to be as close as possible to the actual 1963 originals.

I do think Nomos is a better brand than IWC honestly from a value stand point and at £10k+ for a big pilot or £7k for a Portuguese the last thing I would buy is an IWC.

I'm a very casual dresser so no need for a dress watch but I do like them.

Never noticed it, but I have looked, and 99,9% of watches images from google are like that or 1:50, and most of the seconds hands are on the 30s-37s range and some at 12 o clock.

It's probably some kind of photography autism,I like road bikes and there was some meme/stupid rule that somehow always were true that stated that a bike must have the crakset (pedals for non cycling people) on a certain position and the chain must be on the big chainring and the middle of the cassette. It was true for commercial images, and meme for people posting or showing his own bikes.
On watches is probably because it has some kind of simmetry that appeals people more than other positions, if every watch pic is like that, there must be a good reason.

His videos are top comfy until you get to the unfunny dinosaur skits.
He strikes a good balance of being both informative, having some production value (which really matters when it comes to watches once you get to stuff like macro shots) and having some presence on camera rather than being just some guy reading specs out loud.

But more importantly, which watch video cringster is the worst?

The writing, and, vocal affect, of Watchfinder, is truly, something to behold. Indeed, it seems that, every video, he is doing everything in his power, to drag out, over the course of 10 minutes, regurgitations of wikipedia articles in the most bloated, and fatuous prose.

Federico is basically the opposite with his underproduced content. Fat, concise, knowledgeable, has actual opinions.

I'm going to say the fit and finish is best on the nomos. Its only poshished with no bushing tho but overall its well done, runs about 2+ secs a day

Stowas and Lacos brushing is about the same, they both run 5+ secs a day. The lacos movement is the best feeling to wind by far better (Unitas), then the stowa and nomos, nomos is very fine and light to wind but some might like that (most refined).

If they were all the same money I would take the Nomos, thinner, inhouse movement, adjusted to 6 positions. The lacos movement is lovely, finishing is on part with both but its a 42mm 3 hander if your okay with that. The Stowa its lighter and smaller (40mm) and a little underwhelming vs the laco in all honestly but that is due to size and weight, it wears better for it. Fit and finish its about the same with a timeless design.

You couldn't go wrong with any of them, idk if the Nomos is worth £500 more, probably not but it is the best watch under a loop. All better than any Swiss and Japanese watches at the same price regardless.

Nice collection, goes without saying, loved the 5711 from before the hype. Enjoy the new white gold sub when you get it.

5711 outstanding, the curves on the case just make it. I used to like the Royal Oak over it but I've come around 360 now.

I always like the black gmt, near bought one before they discontinued it. I would love a jubilee not going to lie and the new tones on the bezel are a great improvement.

I like the 2 tone sub in blue more but I would worry about full gold standing out to much.

IWC, I could never get along with the brand, they aways have to have a date windows on clean dial, killed a lot of the watches for me. I use to think the portugieser were some of the best looking watches ever made.

Omega 1967, dad has a 18k one, same sort of age, started of my whole interest in watches.

Breitling 1946, I think vintage Breitling is underrated and good buying.

Bulova, little out of my tastes but it probably has some history with you.
