I like that my Rolex is different than the more poplar models (Sub, GMT, etc.). I bought an OP36 (white dial) to wear to work every day with a suit so I think it works better for that purpose. No one notices the OP and that’s fine with me. I bought it for myself to enjoy anyway. It really is the perfect watch, IMO. I do like the Sub but it’s probably only my 3rd favorite diver.

I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you but everyone is noticing your OP. It's the quintessential Rolex. Dudes check out each others watches constantly, and after the ladies check out your smile and your butt they go right to the watch as it's the biggest tell of big bank.

The issue that the "under the radar" Rolex owner who gravitates to a less expensive model faces is that not only is everyone noticing your Rolex but they're now wondering why you can only afford the entry-level model.

women know very little about watches, the only female watch youtuber is only there because her husband is a giant luxury watch nerd/dealer. If their boyfriend/husband isnt into it they would know nothing at all
most people only have a vague notion that rolex/omega is expensive. And patek/RM is "even more expensive"
show them an 150k HH watch or a 5k semi luxury brand and they would have absolutely zero idea how much it costs or how they compare to each other.

swiss = / = expensive
the whole trend of "expensive swiss watches" is relatively new in history. Before the quartz crisis swiss watches were cheap everyday things. In the 1920s? swiss watches would be the shitters of the watch world, english and american watches were actually top of the line then iirc. You can find all sorts of vintage swiss junk with only a few jewels in them. 15 is pretty decent for an old watch.

Cool, that's one of the nicest looking LM Specials. 5216 also has a normal (gradual) date change as opposed to the instant change in 5206 and 5246, so if anything it has even fever parts that could fail. Still, hearing the snap and realizing that the date just changed without seeing it is very satisfying, and Seiko doesn't have it in that many movements even today. The 52 series really was excellent (so was the 56 series, it's just bad luck that the plastic they chose for that one part turned out to age poorly).

junghans is a 110% legit watchmaker, far more than tisell (which is to be honest, an AE brand, just korea owned). Junghans was founded before 1900.

in fact they created that design, in 1957. In comparison NOMOS (which most people think of 1st when they hear "bauhaus", didnt exist until 1990. (The earliest bauhaus watch designs was probably Stowa in 1930s)

Gold case
Roman numeral with sensible size (the fact they have a lot of numbers without me getting sick like with bigger number is a witchcraft)

>Seiko literally won't service your watch.
I have my own watch guy that services all my watches. He is more competent than the guy at the only official Seiko service we have (small country ya know...) that wasn't even able to change the protruding box crystal i have scratched with custom made one, said it couldn't be done and that i'd have to wait for over a month for a new original one to arrive... So i went back to my guy and he did it easily, he even made it so it sits flush with the case now so the watch is like 2 or 3mm slimmer. So yeah, fuck Seiko's service, i trust my watch guy, he is cheaper too, and i can chat with him about movements and such and learn a thing or two.

that said, my current daily driver is a electric green/teal orient tristar with day/date and I am absolutely enamoured by it. I know it's pretty expensive, but I feel it got sentimental value because my grandpa was fighting against communism in the 40s.

Pretty good price. Rado isn't very well-known in the west but it's apparently huge in Asia. It's THE luxury watch brand in India apparently.

Yeah I was thinking the same for that price, only I might change the strap.

Right now it looks like more of a mall toy.

Anyone got any straps that would make it "more serious"

ETA is a big movement company, tons of watches used their movements so servicing is easier.

Stowa is a nice brand, they have a good finishing for the price but I don't know about limes so I don't know which one is better or worse.

What are you on about?

Stowa got shit finishing, and their quality have been falling steadily after uncle Adolph left the company.

Please don't put a diver on leather. Most diver owners bought a diver because they don't want to have to worry about their watch ever. It gives you options and peace of mind in any situation, which is why it's memed as a "man of action" watch a la Bond. Realistically it's just so I can walk to my car in the driving rain or jump in a pool at a moment's notice at a party, not so I can do a triple back flip off of a bridge while shooting six baddies and bringing a woman to orgasm, but it's the same "unconcerned" frame of mind.

I thought about buying this watch a few times but its to thick and big (40mm).

If it was 38mm and 10mm thick, I and many others would buy.

Did someone say Rado? Your go-to maker for tungsten carbide cases to smash inferior brands with.
Don't know if anyone remembers me posting this 70's Diastar when I got it (a relative inherited it and passed it on to me, since it wasn't working, held no real emotional value and he was never ever gonna wear it). Since then I've gotten it working and it runs well, the only problem was a broken mainspring. It has a Rado-fied ETA 2789, which was pretty nice to work with. On paper the the specs are nice and but I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna wear it either, so thinking of selling it at some point.

Anon, do you know what is the lug-to-lug for SNDV30P1? wishing the lug to lug is a hair smaller. Wears just a lil' bit big.

It's a 37 mm case diameter and 34 is kinda diminutive? 35 mm feels the best desu.
