Nobody obsesses over functionality and complications with dress watches like they do with divers.
A watch tells the time, looks good, is sturdy and reliable in almost any situation, (You have a Casio for extreme situations like sports etc)

Diver fags deeply care about water resistance, crown size and lume, like they're gonna bust into a dive on their way to the office, and don't wanna be caught with their pants down.

Everything you wear says something about you. A gentleman wearing a nice dress watch shows poise and refinement. A blue-collar worker wearing G shock or f91-w shows practicality and restraint. A huge ass diver on your skinny pale wrist tells me you like to larp as a adventurous James Bond type, but clearly aren't one.

Disclaimer: I understand some just like the aesthetic, but then i ask: What aesthetic? They all look like the same Submariner ripoff.

Just got home to my loving, anal taking, submissive as fuck, wife of 15 years. I had been at the gym for the last hour.
She asks “how was your workout?” I reply “tough. Hit my rep PR on deadlifting.” Her: how much? “405 six times” She looked at me with disappointment, “and it was tough?”

God damn, this bitch is like 130lbs. I could pick up her, her sister, and her mom 6 fucking times and she’s acting like I’m a weak bitch.

I just looked at her sideways in a way that told her tiny ass to get ready for when the kids go to bed early... and then I realized I lost my Daytona at the gym. Fuck, I'm afraid if she sees me without it, she'll lose all respect for me but she didn't notice yet. Can I get a fake shipped overnight while I'm stuck in the waiting list for a replacement?

In that range, with tool watches anyway, you see what I would call the apex of robustness for watch movements as well. It is super rare to see a $30k watch for example be more robust than a $5k-$10k watch.

>that is mechanically superior
Mecanically superior watches are only at the highest tier, watches with several complications such as perpetual calendars, ultra thin movements and stuff.Watches without complications are mechanically equal to cheaper watches, basic ETA movements are robus, reliable, can be cosc certificed and even the cheapest ones can be regulated to those certifications, they offer everything you would want from a machine. But in watches world, snobs drool over in house movements, they are not really that better, is just a form to show the brand has prestige and not just brands that assemble watches. In my opninion the limit is 5k, more than that you pay more for less most of the time unless you buy something no one else offers like the previous things mentioned.

Watches price is not just the machine, you pay for the brand, the design, the marketing, the finishing that autist love.Classic example, speedmaster pro, the watch used to cost less than 2k, now cost more than 5k, the machine inside it is a basic but reliable movement, nothing fancy.

Keep in mind when researching watches that there are extremely poor people, such as this one >>15526955 , who like to pretend a $100 is the same as a $10k watch as a coping mechanism.

Saying there is no difference between a Grand Seiko 9S movement and an ETA 2824 is like saying there’s no difference between a Toyota's 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 and some Chrysler garbage motor.

Tissot makes sub $1k COSC movement powered watches. These powermatic movements have plastic parts in them and there have been reports of long term reliability issues. But according to this deluded >>15526955 poster, it’s no different than any other movements in the $5k range.

In any case, do your research and read about how mechanical movements actually work, some of the technologies that go into them and match that up with what you want/need.

When talking about specs, an ETA watch can have the same specs, on seiko web it says that movement has -3/+5s day and a better power reserve than the eta counterpart.
Specs are specs, the eta movement can be adjusted to the same level and it is reliable, it will tell the same time as that seiko movement, eta chronometer grade is about -4/+5.and is ETA, which mean service cost will be lower and most watchmakers will be able to repair it. Sorry if you don't like it, but a well maintained workhorse movement is mechanically equal as your seiko movement.
Sorry if a poorfag movement can keep up with your beloved seiko.

and as it's a throwback to a vintage design i can forgive the 100m as period correct

i'm cross shopping it against is the limited seiko spb149 but it may have sold out already
they're about the same size and ~1400 but the oris has a slimmer look because of the domed sapphire

the oris is 4hz vs the seiko 3hz but the seiko has a 70hr power reserve and a standard 200m rating

Yeah it’s easier to delineate with quartz.

Unless it’s a high accuracy quartz movement like the type Bulova, Grand Seiko, Breitling and some others use, in general cheap quartz movements are all the same. When they stop working you simply replace them entirely.

There's a lot of confusion and FUD around the Powermatic 80 movements, doesn't help that Swatch group aren't that forthcoming with info on the movements. The escapement in Tissot and Certina Powermatic 80 movements is a synthetic silicon material, and it can be serviced, just good luck finding an independent with a Swatch parts account if you need to replace the escapement. If you take it to a Swatch service replacement they'll just pop in a new movement because it's cheaper. These are 23 jewels, and you can tell if they have the synthetic escapement if they are designated C.07.1xx. There are Powermatic 80 movements with a traditional metal escapement on other Swatch brands like Hamilton and possibly Mido, these are 25 jewels with designation C.07.6xx. These are also serviceable, but none of the Powermatic 80 movements have a ETAChron or similar regulating mechanism, though you can apparently regulate it with a magnet, but good luck finding a watchmaker who's figured that out. I would have less qualms with buying the latter Powermatic 80 movements, since they are essentially a 2824-2 design with an alloy mainspring and a slower beat rate which does help with the wear somewhat. I would still personally go for a traditional ETA movement though, if only for the beat rate, and the knowledge that any independent watchmaker can service it if needed.

from caliberconer.com

PLASTIC PARTS:
There is confusion about whether or not the Powermatic 80 movement uses plastic parts (similar to the Sistem51). First, it’s important to acknowledge that there is more than one Powermatic 80 caliber. For example, The Tissot Luxury line has the Powermatic 80.111 with 23 jewels and uses plastic parts. The COSC rated Powermatic 80.811 found in the Tissot Ballade does not.

quartz:
chinese quartz-aliexpress stuff
cheap quart-casio and other basic stuff
high accuracy quartz- brands like bulova offer it, not really expensive.
Better high accuracy, thermocompensated, which means better accuracy even when its hot or cold and usually these movements are really good, Grand seiko has those movements,Breitling and I think omega has HAQ too, these are expensive watches, over 3k.

reminder that, fugly unbalanced watch it is, it's possible they made it that way:
lange never wanted to release a steel "sports" and jump on the rotting roke/nautilus daisy chain
in all their rhetoric up to this point it was never mentioned as a priority
i think there may have been some instances where they specifically said they wouldn't
however lange isn't independent and has to do what its master tells it to do
so when richemont execs want lange to try to compete in the played out as fuck high end luxury steel sports category (you know the one where every contender fails miserably and the long reigning knigs still reign supreme?) lange had to rush out and design the watch
i think they did a good job, all things considered, in doing something they had obvious reluctance to do
i doubt that richemont would've let them, a german company responsible for making the actual fliegers for the luftwaffe, make a watch reminiscent of that today
(don't want to piss off them jews right?)
they did sneak something in, that shouldn't at all be controversial but in germany will probably get you arrested and subsequently raped by ackhmed and mustafa in prison for:
the dial of the odysseus
what color is it?
it's certainly not from saxony
there's no more "german" a color though, in more ways than one and one of those ways is hilarious when you think about what it means

I heard a watch reviewer on YT say Armand Nicolet are very underwhelming in person, infering that's why they're so heavily discounted/ so cheap with such great specifications.
I was looking at a model that was built around a movement that had been left in storage for 70 years. Sounded amazing. Manually wound, unique and simple moment, display back, looked great on the monitor but I couldn't find any reassuring reviews. The only in depth review confirmed my greatest hesitation, the quality in real life wouldn't match my expectation from the advertisement. But the return wasn't too difficult.
Proceed with caution or avoid. Is my advise. Soz

Just get a quartz and unfuck yourself from this söyboy mechanical faggotry. You will get so much more selection. The real world is not this fucktard forum. Nobody will care if your watch has a battery. Nobody besides you will care about your watch.
>80€
>30bar water resistance
>screw down crown
>is precise, last battery ran for about 3.5 years.
>40 mm

It's smaller than the usual stuff. If you search around, you will find even smaller divers. Just got this because it was locally availiable. Pretty sure there is tons of cheap quartz shitter diver hommages.

It gets inspected and if more documentation is required it will usually be sent to the shipper. What is the status of it currently besides being "stopped?" If all the paperwork is in-order and accurate, it will likely undergo an inspection and be released.

Nobody is really that anal about that. And also you can let the hands get adjusted. Not even expensive.

No telling, depends on current customs volume, how responsive the shipper is and what is required. I would follow up with the shipper if you have not seen any movement inside of the next week to ensure they are on it. Who did you buy from?

Yeah, customs sucks. Kind of surprising, Sakura does enough business that you'd think they have the int'l shipping down to a science. You could probably send an email today to their customer service and reference the shipment/PO and inquire if they have been contacted by DHL/customs just to make sure they are on top of it. You'll get it soon enough.
