“We never take anything downmarket,” he said. “That’s not what we do. But there will be a lot more leisurewear and activewear. We won’t forget the tailored piece but there won’t be a huge emphasis in that area.”

Despite its reputation as a purveyor of mainly suits and sport coats, sportswear actually accounts for more than half of Brooks Brothers’ sales. “That’s true, but it needs to be 80 percent,” he said. “And although they sell a lot of sportswear, they never put emphasis on it.”

The cheap shirt is what kills it.

-The pants aren't bad at all, but if you can, try to find ones with a bigger waist, but less room in the hips/seat. This can probably be done by moving to a "slim" or "tailored" fit, but going one size up. Your current ones pinch too much at the waist, which makes you look like you have larger hips than you do.
-The shirt looks like some cheap polyester shit from Target, and that collar is horrible. Button that last button on the chest. Find an actual oxford cloth with a button down collar. It will cost you $85-$150, but you'll thank me. Never cheap out on the shirt.
-Shoes and belt are fine. Black or that really dark brown isn't my taste, and the shoes look like they have rubber soles, but its whatevs. Fix the shirt and you'll look 500% better and can worry about the other stuff another time

Okay, let's get this out of the way real quick, your funny little joke makes you look seem like an absolute pathetic person, I mean, why would you even joke about that? This isn't plebbit where self deprecating jokes such as these are funny, grow up a bit, "man".
Anyway, I will quickly list off everything wrong with your fit, in a somewhat lazy manner:
•shoulders are too big
•notches are slightly too high although this is a minor issue in your case
•Jackets sleeves are a bit too long, covering your shirt cuffs, creating ugly crinkles, and covering your watch all at the same time.
• the buttoning point seems to be off centre, meaning that one of your shoulders may be wider than the other but it could also be that you put it on lazily or something else but you should definitely keep this in mind.
• low waisted trousers; they show off your belt to everyone which isn't a good look, especially considering that your quarters are pretty closed. Another point on the trousers and quarters is that from what I see is that they make your legs look quite short compared to your torso, this is something that I struggle with as well but in your case it's clearly because your jacket is either too long or too closed and that you are wearing low rise trousers.
• the crinkles at the bottom don't look good at all, your trousers are too long
• your shirt is too tight because of what's going on with you placket.
• the shoes are actually terrible, something that you would get for less than €70
I think your wife is going to be less satisfied after seeing you wearing this, you cuck, sort yourself out or go back.

>Your proportion bullshit makes absolutely no sense
Looking back at it, it's not as bad as I made it out to be but it's still a problem, of course, you can't get every single detail right but you should most certainly strive for perfection.
The way the jacket is cut (either the length of it or the quarters) make his legs look a bit shorter than they might actually be so I'm really not sure how it's bullshit.
>some of the details you say are just for the sake of criticizing someone.
Such as? I just pointed out most of the things which I didn't lik in the fit and they were all pretty big issues.
Not sure how this makes me autistic hahaha I was having a bath trying to pass some time so it's quite silly of you to simply assume that I have autism just because it's a somewhat long post.

>> No.15487716

The 4chan critique of "you put effort into your post therefore you are autistic" is just anti-intellectual bullocks. Saying that, the op definitely needs to move away from the mirror. Why would you want to follow that rule? Are you larping? Fuck stupid rules that only Stephen Schneider cares about.

There's been some discussion about rules and I agree with the train of thought that declares then bunk. This is a fashion board after all. I propose that being tippy depends on whether you ascribe to an ethos, lifestyle and an aesthetic that I'd consider tippy. At least in the American sense. I know European variants night be different. Here's what it means.
>Natural fabrics (,wool, cotton, linen etc)
>Unstructured, relaxed approach to clothing that extends to formal wear (white/black tie excepting).
>Sporty, athletic elements mixed in
>Academic
>Clean cut and understated personal grooming
>Focus on durable, long lasting clothing of good quality

It's so much better to focus on themes. You don't have to wear button downs although they fit perfectly well within the idea of a relaxed sporty approach to formal clothing. On the other side of the coin, this doesn't stop you wearing double vented jackets (which do look much better on big bummed individuals) however the fussy, fitted nature of going full euro-core would conflict with the relaxed, rumpled aspect of tippy clothing.

Anyway this just my thoughts. Tell me what you think.

American trad sport coats tend to be less padded and less structured. I have a 60s and a 70s brooks jacket and both have very minimal shoulder padding. Anyway it's not a deal breaker however if the rest of the outfit ends up being too 'fitted' then you'd be straying away from the trad aesthetic

Put the faggotry associated with it aside, dark academia pics are essentially just TIP in fall colours aren’t they? Where can I pick up items like this (UK) if I’d like to try it without buying too high end and I have no autumn/winter wardrobe at all right now? I really like the look and idea of wearing longer wool/tweed coats or blazers which are on the looser side of fit but I don’t know the specifics or names of coats like this. Same with I’m not really sure how to go about footwear and I don’t want to wear docs or some cringe black derbies.

Also about boots, definitely nothing black or chelsea?
I always find brown boots to be too light in colour but maybe I’m looking at the wrong shades of brown, could something towards oxblood be fine?
I’m not trying to be too TIP accurate since it’s not my whole wardrobe so maybe I could consider a thicker soles or footwear with slight alternatives unless they look like total shit. Sorry again I just don’t usually wear much colour and I’m used to wearing dark footwear almost always but I’ll give them a try if I can find the bare minimum for decent footwear because I don’t want to sink a lot into it yet.

Ebay is the move. My advice is that generally when you are buying clothes on there (or etsy or any other online store), you always have to compromise on either getting things cheap, fast, or quality.

That is, if you want quality garments fast they will be expensive. If you want cheap garments fast they will be shit quality/not fit you. The best way to play the ebay game is to check back repeatedly, because the only way to get quality things cheap is to scope out the best deals over time

If you're in the UK, ebay has plenty of wool/tweed sport coats. You'll find plenty from the 90s that are 100% wool and with a 100% viscose lining. No blends or polyester to be seen, often manufactured in the UK too. There will also be many in greys/browns to good with black and for Autumn/Winter. We are talking in most cases, less than £10.

>>15493241
I'd avoid loafers, outside of TIP circles they are a rarity, especially in the UK and when in Autumn/Winter you want boots.

>>15493248
>Black is definitely outside ivy/prep

Black and dark colors are common in inspo movies such as Dead Poets Society and The Emperors Club.

>>15493271
Put your jacket in the bath or something similar with a little washing detergent, do not use warm water, it will stretch the wool fibers, use cool water. Gently hand wash it. Then lay it flat on something such as a towel for a day or too, hanging it up again will stretch the jacket. Make sure the collar is right when you lay it flat to dry or that too will get out of shape.

After it is dry, hang it outside in the wind for a day and it should be fine after that.

>>15493344
I just ignore rigid rule makers. I think black pants/grey tweed jacket looks great, I think white pants and a salmon pink shirt only looks good in certain areas that are warm, you'll look like a fool in some cold European City in Winter.

Black becomes formal when paired with other black/formal items. I think you'll make less mistakes with your fir for new people, wearing brown pants and loafers is going to come across bad unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Most people here are TIP alone, Not in a community, not at a college, just random people dotted across the world. You're unlikely to even come across someone who emphasizes a rigid set of rules irl and only on here/online.

The point is, if some 18 year old wears them with an overall bad fit, her is going to look bad. One singular item is never going to make your fit.

Look at the stupid sneaker shit on this board, that's what teens are wearing. You better look good if you are going to wear loafers at that age. But dark boots/black pants and a grey blazer is an easy step that will look generally OK to most people in this direction.

Unless people post a picture with their message it means little anyway. Some people are just hardcore being autistic here and larping. All it does is scare away those with an interest.
