Kind of.
The problem with IWC is that they are extremely overpriced for the basic bitch watches that they offer and you would think that with the small amount of them they make available per year and the prices they charge that they would go the full autistic Grand Seiko treatment on each one... but they don't. They are disappointing.

Bulova is sadly not what they used to be and that's a discontinued lower-end quartz model that could be had for a hundred bucks with a 3 years guarantee while it was sold officially, the one you're looking at is probably a new old stock one that might lack the box/papers/guarantee, so that's why it's cheap:

But they don't have one with that awful styling for 100 bucks.

What's weird is that you're fine with spending 250 bucks on something because it's a mystical magical mechanical, but spending 500 bucks on something with better performance is bad because it's stinky evil quartz. And why is quartz stinky and evil? Because some kike told you that only mechanical watches are acceptable for some bizarre reason.

>> No.15439687

It doesn't really damage Cartier as a brand to offer quartz watches. IWC on the other hand is solely a high end watchmaker selling ETA based watches for 5-6k, maybe more?, whereas Cartier sell in-house movements at the same price, a movement Vacheron Constantin uses for base in the fiftysix's.

A1000D-7EF (white on bracelet, pic related)

they both come with corresponding mother of pearl, in the render its saturated but from what i read IRL, its subtle.

theres 3 more but they are rose gold (basically all the A1000 ones)

Actually mechanical chronographs make more sense than pure mechanical timekeepers.

If you "keep time" for a whole month with a simple three-handed mechanical watch, you'll be off by minutes.

If you "time" a particular event with a mechanical chronograph for a few seconds or minutes, the result will be indistinguishable from the most accurate quartz chronograph in existence.

>>15440999
>>If you "time" a particular event with a mechanical chronograph for a few seconds or minutes, the result will be indistinguishable from the most accurate quartz chronograph in existence.
Not really, because of both the inherent latency in activation, and the basic fact that even a cheap stop watch can manage hundredths of a second.

It's less important for a timekeeper to be within a second than it is for a chronograph to be within a second. If you're just looking for a rough estimate of how long you've been running, then you're really just using the feature as a larping tool.

The Nomos is a definite no, I need the GMT function for aviation rather than travel or international business so the style of its second time zone doesn't work, plus it just doesn't fit my style. The Grand Seikos are really nice but the models that appeal to me are way outside my price range, and I'm not sure if the movement has the BB's best feature, the ability to jump the local hour hand without affecting the GMT hand, which afaik is something you only get on the BB and Rolex GMTs.

I really like this GS but it's well outside my price range, almost twice what the Tudor costs in the real world, and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the fact that it's titanium.
