I think the one you're looking at ran a mildly adjusted 2824 so like .. it's the same as a Tissot...or Tudor black Bay or what most counterfeit Rolex run

I'm not deep into watch collecting and most likely never will be. I research purchases before making them, even for trivial things like a fairly cheap watch. Already have a SARB033 and a G-Shock and happy with them, would just like a couple other styles to round things out. Highly doubt I would ever spend over $1000 on a watch. Just want watches that will last a long time, keep reliable time, and look decent.

The first ed. King Midas is one of the finest modern Rolexes. Genuinely rare, unique manufacturing, worn by celebrities, timeless Genta design characteristic of the era. All it takes is a single Hodinkee article and you will all screech about how badly you want one but can't afford it after the prices have quadrupled. The original Nautilus, the Yacht Club, the Overseas and yes, even the Royal Oak were all seen as bizarre old-fashioned monstrosities before they were rediscovered.

This very much.
It's all about marketing.
I like the midas already. I can only imagine how shiny it is in the sun, like the super simple forms. That triangle for the crown is extra nice.
Only the dial is boring, despite being perfect for that design. But i would want a bit more on the dial.

It even sparked an idea.
>get small dial from an old ladies watch or so
>machine some very simple variation of the midas in stainless steel
>learn rules of proportion before so dial and case look good together

The hardest part would be to actually machine that shit. Or just get precut metal parts and grind them down with belt grinders and dremel.
Or get good at planning and cad, design your watch virtually and give some company the order to make it on the cnc.

Depends on the woman. Something that compliments your personality and/or style of dress is always respectable. Some women get excited at the prospect of a man who can afford a luxury watch, some women are indifferent and in some cases repulsed by a man who would wear thousands of dollars on his wrist. From my experience a watch is not going to make or break a woman worth being with's opinion of you.

Then be done with soviet shitters unless you're into them for the fun factor alone.
You can also try and track down a proper Gagarin Sturmanskie (again, do your homework), a Type-1 or a cal. 3017 Strela but I feel those are pretty overpriced for what they are and might not be worth the effort of finding a good example at a fair price.

The Smiths is real nice, it's from the 1950's or early 1960's and it probably has a sterling case, these were usually gave out as retirement gifts. Seeing that it still has the nice original box and the paperwork I guess it's worth around 180 pounds if it's a sterling model indeed. Smiths is starting to have something of a cult following and it's a nice model with what looks like a good condition radium dial between the scratched glass so the prices might go up somewhat with time.
The "Ramona" is a mid-segment 1960's dress watch with probably a Felsa 4000 movement inside. it's unlikely but check if the back is steel or gold in color, if the latter it might be a gold watch, but again, it's not very likely. I guess it's worth about 60-80 pounds if you can find a buyer, these watches are nice but there are tons of no big brand name mid-segment automatics from the era.
Vintage watches are in vogue and yours have real good condition dials, they will be perfectly wearable after service (a professional case polishing and a new glass would benefit both). Learn what it costs to get them serviced by a reputable watchmaker (you can usually find recommendations on forums, don't hand them over to the first botcher), calculate the cost and see if it's worth it to you (don't run them until they get serviced). I'd preserve and wear them, especially as they are family heirlooms, but that's just me.

>Tulip mania reached its peak during the winter of 1636–37, when some bulbs were reportedly changing hands ten times in a day. The conference yesterday revealed to the world the stuttering SWISS that run this scam. Price has already tanked 10%. Once it breaks through the $10,000 resistance the panic will begin and small ARCHIELUXURY subscribers and Hodinkee readers will begin to offload, with the flippers already long gone. Once it shoots through the $8500 mark, unabated FEAR will ripe through all Rolex owners. With all those who dumped their saving accounts into this scam twitching at their arsehole continuously while refreshing Chrono24. The $7000 mark will be met, the largest panic in history will ensue. The final deluded watch sites will begin to go offline, and wagecuckers with their middle management salaries loaded up in "investment watches" will be left with it stuck in their dressers, unable to move it to ebay to salvage some self respect. The price WILL tank at this point to sub $6000, and most probably sub AD retail levels. From that day forward the deluded ROLEXROLEXROLEX wagecucking "nouveau riche" middle managers who bought this STUNNA thinking it had investment value will go back to their jobs, with no money in their saving accounts, to be made redundant by the next wave of pajeets and changs arriving to undercut their wages. Deluded ROLEXROLEXROLEX will hold muh investment watches FOREVER, with no job, no money, and no value. I warned you Rolex owners. There’s still time to get out. Sell NOW. Don’t be deluded, don’t be a ROLEXROLEXROLEX.

That Smiths is based and I'd 100% wear it. Polish the crystal if you want or not.
