there is a difference between watches certified / capable of EVA’s and those that operate within the pressurized environments with controlled temperatures in space.

That F-91W, its battery and its quartz movement will likely start to choke in terms of voltage in the extreme temperatures of space. And even if it doesn’t the time keeping will become extremely inaccurate due to the temperature variations.

And god knows what would happen to that LCD display.

Think of a mechanical watch as a 45 year old boomer who used to be a Marine and did triathlons until he hobbled his right knee while taking out the trash one night while half drunk.

And think of the F91w as your run of the mill zoomer who thinks of himself as being invincible because he can throw out the trash in the middle of the night without having a single worry of ever hobbling his knee.

the Marine may not be able to walk or run as fast, he doesn’t know who the top 5 Twitch personalities are, he doesn’t know what a Season in video games is, etc etc. but that marine could probably shove that zoomers shit in if he really wanted to, despite how fat he’s gotten due to his hobbled knee.

well one of them is a near mint Vostok cadet, which is no longer manufactured. Its a 34mm sports/diver made for youth, I have small wrists like you so I felt it was a good choice. This is similar but different colour. It was only $37

The other is also a vostok, a beautiful dress watch with a faded cracked spider dial that Ive posted a while ago here.

but I have to warn you, vintage hunting is full of landmines and frankenmonster watches pieced together from various broken watches and with unoriginal parts. I spent days looking at so many different ones. Many sellers will try and cheat you or have dodgey parts, I pulled out of buying one because the seller did not disclose /wasnt honest about it. You have to do your homework and request pictures of the movement inside. And I'd likely have to service these both when I get them because god knows how long they have not been cleaned. And please avoid etsy, that place is just full of redials and fake dials and new cases passing off as vintage and all sorts of dishonest garbage at much higher prices on ebay

As for the copyright, looking at the watch it seems it was done without permission but as you said they couldn't sue a soviet company. They might attempt however to sue a bit of a bigger company using mickey without copyright. The first time mickey was on screen there was no copy right notice posted in the title card and at the time apparently that meant no copyright, it's never been tested in court however. It's a bit like the happy birthday song, for years it was questioned whether WB owned it, but they charged so little to companies to use it, everyone just paid as it was cheaper than legal fees, that is until recently it was tested in court, and turns out they never owned it.

Most LED watches required that otherwise they would drain the battery too quickly. Still if you want one just for the sake of having a throwback pice of tech you may want to look for hamilton or timex leds (they came out when lcd digi watches started showing up) they are usually affordable, pulsars are great but the ones in good condition tend to be pricey

Just like pink shirts gold watches do look better on darker skin types. So yes, you have a point there.

Just say it's a more utilitarian Rolex. No different that a GMC and a Cadillac. Rolex is a luxury brand, Tudor is a tool brand. They're like alter egos of one another

The one pictured is an early "PolArouter" and one of the most desirable, I think the seller got $2700 for it. Later ones in rough shape seem to be going for as little as $500 on ebay. A lot of them have aged badly and thus aren't too collectable. It all depends on what design and condition you specifically want.

For a poorfag, a few hundred bucks is probably off the table but if you can sell a few shitters and scrap up 7-800 you could get a nice later polerouter that would be a stellar part of any collection. They're high quality watches with a unique history. For some reason I absolutely hated them until I saw a nice one and it just clicked how well they embody the 50s/60s futurist aesthetic.

Yeah, it worked fine, I didn't exactly make a pretty job of it but it's not visible anyway.
