Is it worth it in the long run? Yes. I spent a thousand dollar total to fill my closet with nice and high quality vintage stuff that fits well. But it took me 3 years of painful thrifting. You’re stuck in these tiny crawl spaces that are not made for 6’2 guys. You have to try hundreds of pants on before finding a pair that fits. And then you have to hope no one buys it before you do, because your autistic ass forgot his wallet. There’s no AC in these fucking things so thrifting is nigh impossible in summer because thrift shops are simply way too hot. You have to go regularly as well because most of the time these shops are filled with garbage, and good clothes are so far in between. So yes, thrifting is worth it in the long run, but it’s absolutely awful and requires patience. Thrifting also got me into repairing my clothes, sewing, learning how to tailor my pants, checking stitch quality on clothes and identifying materials...

This, I go to thrift stores pretty regularly, but it’s extremely rare I find anything good. Perhaps if I lived in a more city-ish area I’d have better luck. But if I solely created my wardrobe from thrift finds as a male I’d look like a 95 percenter

>> No.15350866

I just think up an outfit and then scour through online stores looking for pieces that are exactly like I want them to be. If it costs, it costs.

Same. I’ve spent all my life compromising when it came to clothing. With age came the realization that unless absolutely necessary (financial) there’s no good reason to do that. I’m happy when I’m doing and wearing exactly what I want. So I spent $250 on a rare shirt. I don’t care because when I wear it I know it’s exactly what I want to be wearing. I’m always dressed the best I can be and that gives me confidence which makes me feel good and makes the expense totally worth it.

Dipshits who have a problem with this but spend $250 on yearly Cuckflix subscriptions, or monthly drug/alcohol/cig purchase, or bimonthly energy drink / coffee purchases, can suck me

This really. And even after spending all that time thrifting nice clothes from reputable brands I hardly wear them because they're itchy and uncomfortable compared to my second hand luxury clothes.
It's much more expensive, but i think it's worth going for barely used second hand luxory goods. At this point I have around 3k in saint laurent / dior homme and my wardrobe feels pretty sizable and ranged.

Americans, particularly ones in high population areas like california or new york, have no idea how good they have it for thrift stores. It's not bad in Vancouver, but quality jumps 10x the moment I step into a buffalo exchange in San Fran or Portland, as opposed to my local value village.

Thrift jew chad here.
I don't buy anything for retail.
20$ for a tshirt is too much for me. I buy everything used and in thrift stores.
I actually have a big collection of vintage and designer stuff all bought dirt cheap.

I put all my money into investments.

Spending big money in clothes is for women.
There's literally men who wear gucci "purses" nowadays..
