Ah, damn, fuck it. Let's talk about shitters anyways:
I want to revive my old g-shock. It's a G100/2327 (pic related, but not mine).
So I gotta figure out two things, I'd like to have some pointers on:
>1. Can I just unscrew the back, pop in a new battery, close the back and it's done? If the gasket looks OK, is it still OK? Do I need to (silicon) grease it?
>2. Does anyone know of a seller on Aliexpress that sells new cases for pic related? It was quite popular way back when I got it, but it seems totally unheard of on aliexpress.

1. Yes. Honestly, I'd probably swap out the gasket if you can find one, it'll only be a couple of bucks anyway. If you're fine with taking off the watch before you plunge it in water, I wouldn't worry about it.
2. The chinks have only recently started making bezels, and they're only making them for a couple of super popular models. If the bezel has started to go, you're basically fucked.

Where do you get the gaskets? Casios (Europe) website ain't helpful.
Does anyone know a good european seller for genuine watch parts? If it's really just a few bucks and if it's meant to be changed (That watch is certainly way older than 10 years and I absolutely plan to get it wet) I absolutely should do it, I guess.
>2.
Well, that sucks. Seems like that model once was really popular. Was like the most common ana-digi G-shock before they all got burger-fat. But it seems like the straps are interchangeable (though it might look like shit) so I probably can risk 5€ by ordering one from aliexpress. Or maybe a nato adaptor. Bezel only looks like shit, but obviously still "works", but the strap has some cracks and brittle spots, so it might eventually break.
Would I would really love though, is some casemod (btw, where did casemods go?) that puts a dive bezel on an ana-digi G-shock. From a pure functional, tool watch perspective, that's like perfection!

>> No.15323652

Bah. Every single one of them has a list like

>GD-100/110/120

>DW-5600
>GW-M5610
>DW-6900
>G-5600
>GW-6900
>DW-9052
>GLS-8900
So if they're bothering to list like every g-shock on this stupid rock, but NOT the G-100, does that mean that one doesn't fit? Seems like they all got an identical lug setup, but now I'm worried.

Those NATO adapters are cheap plastic garbage anyway, and they look awful.

It's possible the lugs are more recessed on your older model, I just tried fitting one of the newer G-shock square chink metal straps to my old AWG-101, but it wouldn't go deep enough to engage.

Incidentally, i found a metal band that explicitly says G-100 (and a bunch of others)
But I do t want a metal band. That looks even worse (on that model. Really cool on others). However, if a metal band fits mine and a bunch of others, stuff that only lists the others should also fit mine!?

15323840

I picked up a bunch of cheap chink straps to see if they were any good.

First things first, DO NOT buy a ceramic bracelet, even just to try out. Mine was like 15 bucks, weighed a ton, had a shitty clasp, and while trying to re-size it, I broke like 3 links because of how brittle the material is. I liked the color, but the full metal pins and collar system they're using just doesn't work.

Of all the cheap straps I bought, I was most impressed by these guys. It was a couple of bucks, and works great. The lug holders are metal, not plastic, the strap is light and fits well, my only issue with it is that the magnet can pull hair a bit while you're putting it on, and it's slightly fiddly to get on in the first place.

Casio was bought for a vacation with a friend, bought one for him too
Skx was my first automatic I thought I needed to have
Rolex was what I traded my sub for when I found out I didn't have the sub for myself, but to project something for other people. Still glad I had it, it was a symbol for getting somewhere
Tudor because I wanted something in an oyster case that nobody cares about that doesnt know watches and is more beautiful than any modern Rolex or Tudor
Doxa was included in a deal and in hindsight was a very good deal. Never seen a nicer one in that size
Wittnauer was bought with some of the money made in the Doxa deal and is one of the better ones I've seen. Case, dial and hands are beautiful and it's really its own watch
Wyler was a gamble. It was 10 dollars on ebay with very shitty blurry pics and turned out to be a beautiful watch that keeps very good time
Bb36 was a gift and is very dear to me
Richard was the first vintage watch I bought online and a very good example

The backlight is almost always the most battery-consuming thing on a G-Shock and the EL ones especially. Auto backlight is pointless because it will activate when you don't want it to, and you will end up preferring just hitting the button when you need it.

Personally, I love my seamaster (I also own a rolex explorer, so that's not just cope). Omegas are arguably nicer than the rolex sport models now, with the display casebacks and textured dials.
