1) Where you get it from and who is selling it to you directly affects the cleanliness of the movement.
2) There are several variations of the 1963 homage, and there are several variations of the 1963 design. The two issues I just stated are in fact different.
3) Standard procedure should be to have your trusted watchmaker near by so that when you receive it you can have him look it over to make sure it's well lubricated and to adjust anything that is out. Mine came with a chronograph seconds that wouldn't engage deep enough, which resulted in a pretty serious stutter in the red seconds. A minor adjustment, but without my watchmaker I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it.

Good luck; it's not a bad purchase if the proper precautions are taken. Be advised though: a full service of it in a few years will be close to if not equal the price of the watch. So perhaps treat it as a curiosity, or something to learn 'the feel' of wearing a mechanical chronograph.
