The most important thing to consider here is that streetwear brands and associated outlets understand exactly who it is that puts food on their table. They also know the "culture" that they claim to be part of (materialism cloaked in the guise of counterculture neatly packaged for consumption) holds as central inspiration an ethos of getting it by any means. Finessing, stealing, subversion of authority are among the core precepts underlying the subcultures responsible for the success of brands like Supreme, Kith, etc. Even if they were absolutely fuming, streetwear brands can't possibly say anything negative about it, because to do so would be to destroy their brands overnight. Instead, the smart ones, knowing exactly who their customers are. would have moved to preempt this from occurring, as demonstrated by Kith barricading their flagship (still got robbed) and Nike Lab hiring a private security team while the rest of SoHo was being ripped to shreds. If Ronnie Fieg and James Jebbia are as smart as I think they are, they'll just take screenshots from their surveillance footage and print them on "commemorative" limited edition t-shirts to become some idiot's "grail" in 2035.

>> No.15291084

The same people waiting in line for hours for a chance at super-rare-limited-edition-collab™ are the first ones who will turn up to rob you, because this is the ethos with which streetwear, and now the luxury brands who have co-opted it, has always aligned itself. Especially vulnerable are those places that feed off the hype economy, namely Round Two, Stadium Goods, Flight Club, et al. because those are the places most blatantly capitalizing off young people's addiction to commodity as means of self-worth. No one cares actually cares about these places, they're just obsessed with what they have. So to hear Virgil Abloh and Sean Wotherspoon crying about "culture" is rich (No, I do not think they should have been robbed.) Nor was it even limited to young men –– because the people looting Hermès and Lululemon are not the same as those who ran through Ubiq and Adidas. The snake is just eating itself.

Where I come from we have a saying about feeding the wolves. If you bring wolves around you without feeding them, in this context status-crazed young people whose sense of self-worth is tied to their ability to obtain and display your shit, they are going to eat you. Yes, fashion brands and streetwear shops were hit, but people were not after fashion, they were after status symbols during a period of extreme socioeconomic inequality. Rolex was hit, Vacheron Constantin – despite being higher-end – was not. Nike and Adidas, boom; New Balance, you're good. Dior? Sure. Issey Miyake? We don't know her.

One would hope that brands and houses would reflect on this and play their role in promoting better values, but we all know they won't. It's too much money on the table.

Just bought my first automatic watch. I went with a blue dial Orient Helios and am going to swap it to a black croc band. Did I make a good choice for my first budget automatic? I wanted an open heart because I’m new to automatics and wanted to see the movement working, I think it’s super cool. I like how Orient has an in house movement, and the price was right for me. I like the dial on the Helios better than the bambino’s, main reason I went with the Helios. If the domed mineral glass gets scratched I plan to upgrade to a sapphire one. Pic is not mine, just grabbed from google.

more about meteorites

The pattern on a sliced meteorite is called the Widmanstätten pattern, and this is created when molten metal cools extremely slowly over millions of years. (such as in the core of a planet)

this pattern cannot be recreated in the lab, or found on surface earth rocks. The sliced meteorite has to be bathed in weak acid to show this pattern, otherwise its not visible. (acid etching)

. >95% of meteorite is also magnetic and prone to rusting.

Bot that anon, but the economic conditions we are currently in tend to drop prices for luxury items on secondary markets.

One of the bigger used luxury watch sellers in this country (Spiegelgracht Juweliers Amsterdam) just changed the radio commercial to fit the times,or at least I suspect they did. They went from:
>'have you been dreaming about a Rolex, Omega or Cartier watch for years? We have the largest collection of occasions of the most famous brands with 2 year warranty!.

>'Do you no longer wear your Rolex, or do you NEED MONEY? We buy Rolexes!!'

I had a seiko 5 get dropped once and it stopped. Tapped it on the side opposite of the crown and it started right back up.
But both of you probably aren’t moving around enough to “wind” the watch. Give it the old seiko shake for about 30 seconds and I believe that equates to around a half hourish of run time.

Also the rotors in these movements are notoriously noisy, doesn’t mean your watch is broken. Still doesn’t hurt to take it to a local watchmaker to have it checked out tho if it’s bothering you.

there was an artist who sold cans of his own shit. And people actually bought it.

>A tin was sold for €124,000 at Sotheby's on May 23, 2007; in October 2008 tin 83 was offered for sale at Sotheby's with an estimate of £50,000–70,000. It sold for £97,250. On October 16, 2015, tin 54 was sold at Christies for £182,500. In August 2016, at an art auction in Milan, one of the tins sold for a new record of €275,000, including auction fees. The tins were originally to be valued according to their equivalent weight in gold – $37 each in 1961 – with the price fluctuating according to the market.

Do you not see how even your language is compatible to any other hate based movement. Dehumanising a common enemy. He clearly thinks differently to you, you are holding him to your own imagined standard, you believe that someone who has money has an obligation to share it and are assuming that other people think the same, and that therefore if they don't it's because they want you to suffer. He is not your enemy or the enemy. I don't deny economic imbalances. I am not a malevolent globalist but I also don't think I am naive, I've hated my fellow man too.

He said, if I remain caught in the illusion of my ordinary reality, I perceive myself as an agent killing you. I may hate you, who knows, but it’s difficult for me. Then, he says, if you go through a Buddhist enlightenment, you see that you have no self. You became a passive observer of your acts and I no longer perceive me stabbing a knife into your eye as my act but just, as he puts it, my knife is dancing around and in the cosmic dance of phenomena, your eye seems to stumble upon it.
