Not too easy actually, you're in the peak midwit budget range for new watches. Between 500 and 2500 lies the massive black hole where the watches stay basically the same quality but the price explodes.
With just a bit more money (2.5-3k) you could buy a two tone Tudor in in something like 37-39 mm in size which would be perfect for you and the kind of gold you're looking for I think.
However if you don't want to stretch, I'd get something like a Citizen Corso or even better something like a Seiko 5 (SNXJ92 or SNE044 come to mind) and if you're still into this thing and want to upgrade later you can still buy a more expensive Swiss watch.

Just one more note: I wouldn't call the Endeavor a "not big" watch.

Any attempt to get the certificate of authenticity will require the watchmaker to get the watch's serial number, which will show the watch as having been reported stolen. Of course, you can wear the watch yourself, but when it needs servicing, you'll get busted - again, when the watch's serial number is checked. However, expecting a looter to think 5-10 years into the future is probably setting your expectations too high.

For reg seiko, it’s tiered depending on if the watch is newer or vintage.
Depending on the model it’s between 50-300. A quartz would be low end and a 7s26 would be 75ish, and something like a sarb would be 200.
For grand seiko, it’s about 300 for a 8j/9f movement service, and for an automatic/spring drive between 5-800 depending on the model. A re-Zaratsu polish is 600 across the board last time I checked.

Seiko in the mid to late 70s. You've probably missed the boat for being able to buy truly exceptional stuff for dirt cheap (like less than £100) though. The stuff worth looking at has the characteristic penisquartz logo on the dial and generally speaking the quality goes Superior, Grand, King, Lord, Type II.
