Well, see, my solar plastic shitter does like +0.5s/d on the table dial up, and +0.2s/d with daily wrist time. (Miyota movement, no date.) This equates to between +37s and +91s over 182½ days, which is manageable by setting it behind according to how much wrist time it's gonna have, and not off by more than 46 seconds. In my book that's "minute accurate".

So I'm really wondering if it's typical for mecaquartz to achieve this degree of carefreeness, or if it's more a "set on short months" type of quartz movement.

whenever you see "meca-quartz" it's 1 of 2 specific movements, and the vast majority of the time it's the one by seiko, which is as accurate as any other quartz. you will be fine unless you get one that is straight up defective
